esky boi
I have just recently taken the head off my 1300 esky to do a bit of a port and polish, so of course I brought a new gasket set and included was one of those head gaskets that apparently do not need re tightening like normal ones do. I am a bit sceptical about this as I know that it is always a good idea to retighten gaskets after a certain amount of running-especially head gaskets! If any one has some information or recommendations on these gaskets I would very much appreciate it
peteretep
i dont know anything about tightening head gaskets but if you tightened it with a torque wrench before try doing again at the same pressure, there would be no harm in that or just see if theres any play in it and tighten if need be
Toucan
I've never heard of re-tightening gaskets I havent checked my head bolts since I tightened them with the torque wrench when I put the head back on...
kyteler
Yeah, you're supposed to re-torque the head after 100 or so km's or something along those lines. To do with the heat of the metal; expansion, contraction etc. I wouldn't worry whether the gasket was one that said you didn't have to do it, I'd do it anyway to be sure. At least that way you won't keep wondering about this magical gasket.
