  1. Will check when I get home but they are on a Mk2 Escort C50 so very soft but stick like gule
  2. Hard to tell lap times as didnt have a timer with me defently better than my last sesion of 1:30.5 next time out I will get a new app for my phone. Yeah the distributor spat the rotor off the top and that was the reason.
  3. I finally got to the track on Sunday first time since the new engine has been run in. What a diffrent car to drive . It passed cars that it should not have even been anywhere near and kept up with quite a few not to bad as well. had it on 3 wheels more than a few times. There where a few small issues but nothing as bad a the R8 that lost a wheel down the back straight and the Mclaren that didnt take turn one at all. So thanks to Max here are some photos and I will post a video when I get some more time. It was double entered for the day A ringer from down south helped put it to the test. so it was doing two sesions per hour back to back all day. What do you mean I wasn’t beating him…? so this was the look on Billys face when it took him a whole sesion to get past the little escort even with a hairdryer helping him along. Guest driver that only put the go pro on the roof twice till it went flying but luckly it still went. Pushing hard holding off the turboed Trueno Mule Getting some blueing on the headers so we have decided to build a airbox set up to keep the heat away from the carbs The first problem was the sweeper had taken its toll on the sealent not a major fixed in 15 min with the help of a few others. (The Mule did get it in the end…) Mid afternoon it started to run a little rough so I thought one of the leads had come lose but to my suprise I had lost the clip to hold the cap on off one side so we cabled tied it down and carried on.So all and all the day was great and the car made it home in one piece. There is some bleed on my garge floor but it is a ford thats how they let you know that they are alive. Next on the plan is a 4.1 diff and replacment housing to see if that is where the vibration is coming from a set of 45's ( more fuel is required) and the airbox a new dipstick and a few other little things.
  4. We where at Hampton on Sunday testing out the new engine . You should come to the next one we go to Brad.
  5. I'm really hoping that is all it is but its brand new . Should find out this afternoon. It still has compression which is a good thing
  6. Went to get the car last night was soo looking forward to taking it for a drive maybe a little to much . Got to the end of the drive gave it a rev it took off great then a big pop and it died still turned over but nothing going on Hope it will be going by Sunday for hampton but no holding high hopes.
  7. The list of problems just doesnt end at the moment it's a money pit . Just had some poor quailty parts from the UK and hold up after hold up . but only a few things left on the running gear then the body finally. How is your car going? What are the quarter light windows like?
  8. There are quite alot escorts at current
  9. Got a new dizzy cap big difference . The one that came with the new dizzy was moving all over the place . Run into another couple of problems took the car for an early morning run up north just though the tunnel and the alternator light comes on and I'm leaking oil every where . Source of the oil leak from a brand new oil pump. Contacted the seller and they are sending a new O ring for it. As for the alternator the regulator is stuffed and unrepairable no replacement parts ( not happy $400 and only 15 month of use poor quality ) So I'm looking for a replacement Jap one to put on so the car sits waiting for parts . Track day booked for the 18th keen to see how the new motor will go
  10. loads has been going on at late engine is has been going from strength to strength have the 34mm ventures in and am running 160 main jets but it still wants more gas so I'm going to get a set of 45's for it on 36 mm ventures which should give it all the gas it needs. Took it on the Gumboot rally was like a 1000km race drove it like i stole it for the whole weekend . Not one problem. I do have a few oil leaks now . And the vibration is back. It was noted from a car following me that me left rear wheel sits on a slight angle which could mean that the diff housing is bent.I did get a lose seat bolt from the weekend Have fitted a new catch can and new air cleaners .Got some new brakes as it's just a little faster than it was I have fitted Ferodo DS2500 pads and still have the vented disks to fit I also need a new dissy cap as the current one is lose which is causing the car to run a bit crap at current.
  11. may the force be with you Max
  12. I have an old rack that has the other side that failed a wof if you want something to play around with. But a new quick rack is $340 and is brand new no need to fix for a long time after that.
  13. Looks great keen to get out there as well
  14. Went to Beach hop for a drive for the weekend and stayed in the Coromandel for the weekend so we could get some driving in seen as it's only done 1500 km since start up. The drive down on Friday night was fun had the shocks wound up far to hard but it stuck like glue to every corner and didn't miss a beat and got driven hard. Had to rob this pic car looks good here you can hardly see half of the faults. So I let Jenn drive back to the batch so I could have a few beers. She gave it a fair amount of stick as you can see A couple of things came from the weekend need better brakes and already have the 34mm venturi on the way and then maybe a tune to get the best from it and it will be already for the gumboot rally. And it goes really well
  15. I have had this issue for a long time hard to find what it is. Was the gear box from a running car?
  16. Vibration fixed finally after replacing every part of the running gear every bush balancing the engine . It had a douggie universal so two new joints and its all gone. taken a year and half till it has been found many thanks to Paul at Marua Automotive. On a really good note the car had been staving for gas around 5700 rpm and with a quick change into 2nd gear it would bogg down so while it was in the shop today we took the top of the carbs and it was only running 115 main jets with 32 mm venturi . so with a little playing around. It now runs 140 mains and i'm looking for some 34 mm venturi as it is still searching for more but will pull all the way to 7000 rpm now no problem. but it is getting to the limit of a set 40's so I might need to go to 45's yet. sorry no pic's this time will post a video of it running soon as its away to beach hop for the weekend
  17. Got a second hand set but looks like that might not be the problem . We are changing the diff head on Monday as the car seems better but not fixed I have it for the weekend to have a play round with and get a few more bit and bobs done before the Gumboot rally. It does go a lot better now I have full throttle. If I cant fix it I will slowly buy brand new parts as that is the only bits that aren't brand new
  18. Hey Brad yeah super keen on a track day . We are doing the gum, boot rally soon . Roman is asking to when we are going Max still has no car going we are trying to talk him out of a boat anchor . Did you go to Nats?
  19. I got it from a mate but import it's cheaper by a long way . I like to support Kiwi as much as I can but escort parts are just over priced here with limited amount of parts here
  20. Car went back to the shop today to have new axles put in to hopefully get rid of the vibration for good. I'm not holding my breath but everything else has either been replaced with new parts it's the last thing left that it could be. The accelerator cable has been fixed up so I can get full throttle now . Turned out the brake boster hose had a split in it already so I was sucking air into number 4 Had these fitted as well while it's having a few jobs done keen to see what it will handle like after this as it handles so well untill now.
