  1. Vibration is only when driving. The spigot bearing is in and everything's nice and tight. Gearbox feels nice with clean changes. I think you're on the money ALLTorque. I had a guy come to have a look tonight and that was the first thing he picked up on. Because we used the auto crossmember, it dropped the rear of the gearbox down about an inch. So we're going to make up a bush for the crossmember and see how that goes. Thanks for the tips!
  2. Hey guys, I have just converted my mk2 escort from auto to manual. Took it for the first drive and I had some serious vibrations around 2-3 thousand revs. So I took the drive shaft down to be balanced and had all of the universal joints replaced while they were at it. Next drive and I still have vibration. Exactly the same. Any ideas? The only thing I can think of is maybe the gearbox isn't centered as I had a new cross member fabricated. Otherwise, maybe it's the gearbox? Help!
  3. Hey guys. FYI, Autolign in Mt Wellington are re-building the original mounts for $110 per mount. A lot cheaper than any new options on offer around the globe. Generally very helpful guys as well, highly recommended
  4. Thanks guys. Haven't had any luck finding 2nd hand ones and need them pretty quick. Was going to head over to Suspension Tech today so hopefully they can help.... thanks rs
  5. Hey guys, My Mk2 Escort just failed a WOF for cracked top mounts. Does anyone know where I could get replacements/ have them rebuilt? The only options I can find are from the UK..... Will be basically $400 incl shipping. http://www.burtonpower.com/parts-by-category/steering-suspension/suspension-top-mounts/top-mount-rose-joint-alloy-escort-02-77-mp1115.html Any help would be awesome

  7. hey guys, was wondering if anyone here has had any issues with bp98 unleaded in an old car... i have a mk2 escort '79 and was told upon purchase a few weeks back that he ran it on 95 with the valvemaster. so yesterday pulled into bp realised they didn't have 95 so filled up with 98 instead, almost straight away she started running a bit rough. then this morning she wont start at all! also a few weeks back i tried 91 and she ran better than on the 95? could 98 actually stop it from starting like this? thanks guys H
