  1. http://www.speedhunters.com/2015/03/mizuno-works-does-the-corona-markii/ thought you might like this if you haven't seen it yet pretty cool on those rims
  2. making some more progress with well side started bare metalling the left hand side, bit of bog was hiding in there but its not to bad pretty happy really, after i have finished stripping the sides ill flip it back over and paint the inside and get it bolted on, might make a new loom to duck down the chassis for the fuel tank and lights, love how simple these things are sorry for the sideways photos no idea why it keeps doing that
  3. Cleaned up the underside of the well side and painted it, need to flip it over and do the same to the inner of the tray and strip the sides and prime them
  4. haven't got much done while the weathers been so awesome! but really need to get some more progress underway, have started to look around at a couple of panel beaters to fix up the rust in the cab i don't really have the time or patience to do it myself, in the meantime I've started stripping back a panel at a time starting with a guard. I'm almost keen to strip the entire thing back to bare metal and just have it like that for awhile and not worry about panel beating and just use that clear primer, could get it on the road a bit quicker and just use it for awhile and then panel and paint it down the track.
  5. awesome wagon good score! look forward to watching the progress
  6. have had a couple of weeks break from working on this, started to get back into it this week and continuing stripping the underneath, such a messy job
  7. tipped cab on its back and hit it for a few hours with the wire brush, cut out some of the passengers floor to give me a better idea of what I'm dealing with, will start etch priming what i strip as i go, haven't found much un expected rust so its not too bad
  8. cool history to car! the coupes are such a sweet shape, look forward to following what you do with it
  9. Cheers man, Yeah i was on exile while i was living in chester for a year or so, did you bring back the hb?
  10. Finished stripping the cab of everything tonight, everything is phillips head and rusty/underseal(tar like) so there was a bit of drilling going on and winding the left overs out with vice grips, managed to get the loom out leaving everything still attached so hopefully not too much guess work when putting it back in, theres a few modified sections thats going to need re-doing, passenger door cab hinge bolt/phillips head counter sunk screws were absolute bitches to get out 10 came out with the impact driver but ended up drilling out two and managed to get out the remains of one but going to have work out some plan to get out the other theres just not quite enough meat there to get a grip on it, started hitting under the passenger guard of the cab with wire brush, and had a wee go at the floor but the underseal is almost like tar and kind of comes of but sort of just gets pushed around, any sweet tricks out there to remove this?? I've hit a couple of sections to get the worst off then going to see if prepsol will get the left over layer off. theres a few hours/days of quality time with the grinder/wire brush ahead!
  11. been carrying on stripping down the cab to get it ready for paint removal, removed both screens (no rust in there), mostly removed all the interior, finished pulling all the carpet and material that was glued to floor and firewall (no rust found there either), just few fiddly bits to go like removing chrome trims from dash and wiring loom ect, drivers door came off easy with impact driver but passengers not so much got 3 or so bolts that won't budge the slightest left them to soak up some more crc like spray hopefully it helps free them up or the drills coming out
  12. yeah can't say I've seen many utes around, i wish i got a photo of the rack and suspension it was some really flash bit of kit! you did an awesome job cleaning up the 302 looks super clean in there man
  13. this came into work the other day. the guy has just finished it. he's even put power steering, central locking and adjustable suspension in the front i love the hubcaps on it such cool old utes!
  14. yeah mate have a well side for it, its even not too rusty.it came on this ute i brought for $50 and stripped. and heres the tailgate i brought for it
  15. Thanks man! yeah pretty happy that part is more or less done, onto the bodywork now!
  16. painted the spare wheel and got it winched up in place, pretty much everything done before start on the body work, next job finish stripping the cab of doors, windows/screen, wiring, dash ect, then get the stripper disc and grinder out to remove some paint/rust.
  17. thanks mate! its starting to look like something now
  18. motor is in chassis! pretty stoked its close to being done ready to cover up in the corner. started piecing driveshaft back together but one of the 3 u.js had been incorrectly packed and wrong size so couldn't finish it! also brought two new sills off trade me so hopefully they turn up this week, last jobs on chassis is to: paint exhaust manifold, clean up intake and carb, get d-shaft in, get spare wheel painted and in, clean up alternator, starter motor and dizzy.
  19. Be4ver- cheers man it definitely tests your patience doing it to this extent! but hopefully in the end it will all be worth it. Kiwi808-thanks, yeah rotor conversion would be cool but I'm building this too be my daily driver so I'm more keen on fuel economy, gaining twin cam and fuel injection will be good. pretty easy conversion by the looks of it a friend has already done one and i took photos of mounts ect, and he said the b1600 gearbox tail housing bolts to mx5 gearbox so don't need to touch driveshaft or gearbox mount. heres the photos
  20. cheers man! to be honest i don't know as its some weird looking writing maybe german or something on the can no english but i got it from R.J patterson paint supplies i can get a photo of the can tomorrow if you like? it seems to be pretty good stuff it does leave a bit of a textured finish and semi splattery but just top coated it with satin black and it looks all good, the guy at the shop recommended it.
