  1. Those bits of metal look more like pieces of ring from what I can see aye. I'd say it's spat the rings.
  2. I was wondering where the hell you went! Figured you may have decided not to come to the big meet, haha. Is it cable or hydraulic clutch?
  3. If you jump it and it starts fine, then yes the starter motor is okay. If you jump it and it just clicks, or wont crank over at all, or cranks over very very slowly then I'd be looking at the starter motor.
  4. You need a twister chart but with cars instead of colours. Spin the wheel = decision made.
  5. I'm hella keen, but will it fit my busy schedule... Hmmm. When do you need those forms in by?
  6. I guess that's the two looks, personally I prefer the vinyled out windows.
  7. Looks mean! Bit of a touch up here and there, some nice wheels and it'll be a mint cruiser.
  8. Alternatively, does somebody have a big slab of land with a white house with a large wall with no windows on it where we can slap a projector and all park up in our cars and watch a drive in movie? No? Okay as you were then...
  9. I guess if it rains it means I wont have to wash the escort... Haha.
  10. Gone in 60 Seconds still rates high as my favourite car film.
  11. Yeah alright, storm trooper and darth gaydar?
  12. I'll probably take the mps to this one if the weather is that bad, partly cos it's a pain to move the cars around to get it out of the garage and means getting wet. Give me shit all you want, at least I'll be dry!
  13. I've actually got a ported head for a 1300 that's going to be of little use to me cos I'm now building a 1600 if you're interested. I may have some pistons too but I'm not sure what overbore they are, I haven't looked to see whether they're 1300 or 1600 pistons yet tbh, haha.
  14. It was pretty orange peeled off the gun so I hit it with 2000 grit wet and dry until the surface had no shiney bits (basically until all the high spots were rubbed back) and then machined polished it with Farecla G3 (though G6 is softer so probably less chance of things going wrong). That process probably took about 100 hours, maybe more (took about 5 or 6 weekends) but was fully worth it I reckon.
  15. So I picked up a bit of a "kit set engine" shall we call it. 711M block, A3 cam, (and a spare which is a bit bigger again but not sure what it is), some brand new 1300 pistons, still in the box and a GT head. Crank needs a grind which is no biggie but the block is already bored out to 90 thou and the pistons are 40 thou so it needs to be re sleeved. Looking at a fair few bob to do that so got some time to save. Was planning to have it in the car by nats but with the price of re sleeving the block that may be a bit of an unrealistic goal. Still though, once it's built it should be a pretty sweet engine!
  16. I think I've made the decision to re sleeve the block that I have so that I can run the pistons it comes with. I'd rather give myself a bit of a window to play with rather than going for pistons that are close to the maximum. I should be able to get a good price through the guys we deal with at work so will investigate that option. I haven't found any pistons other than the burton items which are shit-ya-pants expensive. Oh and I've done so many SR20s they just aren't exciting to me any more, it's time to play with some oldschool engines! As oldschoolers yourselves I'm ashamed of you
  17. The other option is finding an unmolested 711M block to use the pistons with... I can't decide which route to take!
  18. Not wanting to go mega if I can avoid it. But I don't know if 1300 pistons are available in 84mm sizes... I think I'm pretty much limited to performance type pistons.
  19. So I may need a bit of help/advice to put together an engine. Picked up a 711M block, GT head (with an A3 cam, w00t!) and all the bits and bobs. It also came with some brand spanking new pistons but when I went to check them out I noticed they're a .040 oversize and measured the block and it's 83.5mm so that's not gonna work! What piston options do I have here? Was thinking of boring it right out to 84mm because there's a little bit of scratching on the bores and it'd be nice to start with something completely fresh. I may also have some standard oversized pistons for sale, lol. Brand new still in box xoxo.
  20. Yep, we meet at Backyard Bar carpark (by the golf course), usually at around 6.30.
  21. And Furai will still be walking around in a tshirt...
  22. Icecream in summer, hot food in winter? As cool as the Riverhead tavern is, last time was a bloody nightmare, plus half of the other cars from the meet head there so it's busy as hell. Fish n' chips somewhere could be cool.
