  1. I feel like I've made the most progress in a long while... Got all the old tyres pulled and sent the rims to the blasters, added a good thick layer of 2k while they were at it. Decided on a generic grey rather than white (to match the roof) as will likely get scratched up and look terrible. Came up well There was also another 109 chassis waiting to be blasted when I was there, so thats always a good sign... Got a good deal on tyres (correctly 235/85/16) and after wrangling up some muscle (aka @azzurro) to haul them back to the warehouse, got em fitted up, reckon they look quite the part. As per the discussion thread, I've been (rightly or wrongly) having a go at my own upolstery, got one set of seats completed so far. Pros and cons with going with the canvas but will see how we go long term
  2. This happens to me every so often if driving through rain. I havent bothered enough to look into it further...
  3. Some more work last night Also just picked up some tyres, were a good deal so lets see how well they last
  4. I've been having a go at reupholstering the seats myself in a thick canvas, there are really no option for off the shelf of these deluxe seats if you dont want black. These have been redone before and was able to salvage enough to get good patterns. This was last nights attempt, needs some replacement foam before I give it a stretch over, but the right direction to make the next one better.
  5. I did a typo here.... 285 is just silly... yes its 235 I did have it up for sale on a whim and one interested party, decided I was having a moment of sillyness and sticked with it.
  6. Decided to stop feeling sorry that this is tucked away and get to work on it some more... Its always been a smokey beast... have pulled the injectors to get them re-tipped. The nozzles did look pretty bad Getting these off to treat for some new shoes. 285/70-16 is what the landy barrys say I should be going for. How long ago did Goodyear make these here...?
  7. Try and get the bulk off with mineral turps/paint thinners. Remaining residue might be susceptable to acetone, or if you can find it use dichloromethane/methylene chloride - be careful that is the active ingredient in paint strippers
  8. I am + maybe 1 other. If slim on numbers we could have a shorter blat round George king memorial drive + somewhere else and set up a longer run in the NY?
  9. Yea add me. Yes its the rugby club in Mosgiel Turn right at the lights in the middle of Mosgiel onto Factory Road, then 1st left onto Reid Av, carpark is at the end you cant miss it.
  10. I'm good with the 12th. Roll call of whos planning to attend?
  11. The deep throat shrinkers do have some extra capacity in hard to reach spots. Depends on the price difference? I need to make a decent slapper too, but you can get buy by bending up a worn out bastard file - leaves some little marks so you can follow where you are.
  12. ^I have a pair of them and made foot operated with some scrap steel. Works a treat.
  13. If you haven't seen it already, check out this channel on various tips to dress your panel up nice.
  14. If we're heading out that way do we want to meet at Peter Johnstone Park at 10am in Mosgiel? There is a big asphalt park there to meet up. Pretty limited without backtracking to Ranfurly on a halfway spot but there is a rest area just as you cross the Shag River at -45.19724, 170.42537
  15. Thats cool, I used to be on that forum yonks ago and hes one of the old hands here, I must have dropped out about the time this started.
  16. Here for no other reason.... I've bought Golf with leather seats which has some tears in the side bolster, right where the seat-airbag is. I've been advised that only certain shops can repair/re-stitch these to comply, does anyone know who can do this? Replacement seat cover from VW is now NLA... @64valiant ?
  17. Titles arrived and takeover has been pulled forward to next monday. Once the dust has settled I'll look to do some financial analysis.
  18. 1st wkend dec if we can do the sun?
  19. @vivaspeed do you want to make an executive decision on a date and route? Some good ideas in all of this.
  20. You can do the 'smaller' block run of Palmerston/Dunback/Macraes/Middlemarch which is a good trip. If you dont mind the gravel, take the moonlight valley between macraes<->middlemarch
  21. NE valley or port Chalmers up and over to Waitati at Arc for a drink/nibbes Or Highcliff out to the portobello pub and back in on the harbour road
  22. Sure... I just dont have anything OS running yet.... the perpetual project horder
  23. More bits and pieces but this may help someone else out. I found that the steering knuckle for the FloPro item must have a different point in the shaft where the flat is milled for the taper pin to go into compared to whatever 770 copy I have here. I first tried to redrill a new hole for the taper pin but I was unhappy with how little brass was left around it - if it was to split there I would be in trouble. The FP item does have quite a recess milled into the end Decided to make one from scratch out of some square brass bar, in hindsight I could have remilled a new flat in the shaft but dont quite have the setup to do that and many ways to skin a cat.... Took it out for a quick blat in the weekend. Pretty happy with the results, gets up on the plane now superquick (very little bow rise), planes slower and kicks up a nice jet at full speed. Off to Central labour weekend so hopefully get it out a bit more.
  24. Cheers all. Like most villas, this one was designed to present well to the street. So in the context of what we are detailing with, these are better shots (taken last summer) On the shed front I have a decent sized workshop which will fit nicely on the lower lawn. I'll have to get a new vehicle entry from the other street but that wont be a bad thing. Making it big enough so I can fit a 2 post hoist.
