  1. What Cletus said. It will have so much crap inside the oil gelleries etc that you need to do a full strip down, clean and remachine where required. What's an import engine worth? I couldn't listen to all that video I was expecting to hear something quit in the first 60 seconds.
  2. Roger that Mr.Mk1 I might be able to find an old/not working one at work. If you want it for show. Do you read me. Over.
  3. Yeah it works well. I don't think I would be doing it on a car that hooked well with slicks though. I strongly doubt these will break.
  4. Gasp! You mean? For real? Take your bits to Escort Metal Polishers, They polish them and get them chromed. Edit or get Horse25 to help.
  5. Looking at this leads me to believe there is a little used velodrome in Invercargill. http://www.fixedgearfever.com/modules.p ... ack&id=788
  6. http://www.fixedgearfever.com/modules.p ... ist&cid=nz I believe a post nats road trip to inspect is in order. Hornby. Tinwald. Temuka.
  7. So your top tank has Died? I can get it to the radiator shop we deal with at work if need be.
  8. In my experience the factory Escort Sport 4/2/1 ones worked best for mildly tuned engines. Most of the aftermarket ones have comparatively large primary tubes whch is great for high rpm but not much help for a daily/road car.
  9. I just got hme from this. It was a funny drive with the classis car people. Good to see some new people along too. I was going to take the camera but I didn't. Here are some mental pictures for you to enjoy Bean101s white Mk2 cortina, slammed with minilights, SR20de and hung over passangers. Guvsams Black Morris Minor, not slammed at all with working popup indicators. Tims? Mint, Mint Subaru Leone coupe, so 80s, perfect. My dirty white Valiant. Thanks
  10. Me too. Keep in mind that Weber and Dellorto parts are expensive to buy and you will need to buy them X6. Either way I like the idea.
  11. Woah sorry I missed that one, not being a snob. Updated now! Thanks.
  12. I've slowly been working on this since the last update. Fixed a lot more rust, I'm happy that all the rust I will need to fix is done now. I have pulled the creased sill out and banged the door frame back to shape. Passengers floor is fixed, along with the jacking point and inner sill too Rust in the sill and quarter panel all gone too. I have cut a notch in the sill for a side exhaust too. Added this to the manifold and started making an exhaust, 2 & 1/4 to the side of the car, I'll T off it and put a pipe out the back too. Thanks CUL8R for the pipe and bends etc. Home made cap Also picked these up off Trade Me before xmas but only got them here recently And started to work out where they need to be mounted. Finally Thanks to Big Louie for these little gems! I might have to get some Capri rotors and a set of spacers for them. Thanks. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25081
  13. I can see where you have ground it and a small shoulder. That looks like the outside of an old spigot to me. It probably had a motor swap some where between 1978 and now and no body took the outsife of the old one out.
  14. A picture speaks 1000 words. Take a photo, upload it to photo bucket, put the arrow over your photo you want and 4 image codes will drop down below it, click on the lowest one, come to oldschool quick reply section click on it and press CNTRL C and you're done. It really sounds loke the remains of the old spigot bearing ramed down inside.
  15. rwd_mayhem's car? There is a good spread of cars there Glen. Looks like a good morning.
  16. Sounds like some kind of insert or an old spigot bearing that has been forced in there by the convertor snout. I've put auto Cortina motors in manual cars and had no problems.
  17. The bearing runs in the crank. It should have been machined, got a photo?
  18. I'm so keen to see this going. Hurry up diff etc.
