  1. Hi 7ven I just went and measured some loose headset bearings I have, yep 1/8th. I always use automotive ep grease. And I couldn't say about the bar tape. You've had some nice stuff thrn up lately.
  2. Sweet Lepper. I'm glad to see it going, It's been off the road for who knows how long. Don't take that stand and bailing twine off. Ever.
  3. Thanks mate. I haven't touched it for ages though tbh. One day.
  4. Cool cool. Why the change of direction with the motor?
  5. Looking forward to seeing you. XOX.
  6. Sad to see this has been discontinued.
  7. Just the thing to mash the nice new axle into the bearings and cups. Thanks for the top tip Kirk.
  8. Hey KK. This is coming along well. I'll just add my 2 cents about the diff. I think you'll grow to dislike the 3.45 pretty fast, personaly I feel a 3.23/1 is the best bet. You can use the gear sets out of Fords and Valiants. XD/E/F utes are a good source of 3.23s and LSDs. Although I have a 3.45 crown wheel and pinion I can pass on to you if you want it. The 2 spider LSDs probably aren't the strongest but the seem to handle some abuse, I haven't broken mine yet, Clint uses one in his turbo Valiant too? Like I said my two cents. *I assume this has a Borgwarner diff*
  9. Nice idea, I don't think Trans Metro will be able to shower you with soot/ash/embers etc quite the way you might like though. I'm sure some spokes will turn up. I want to build a Pantha style BMX next. I have a small pile of bits for it already. Yes something like a Penny Fathing would be awesome. It's quite a step though. You might enjoy this,http://geared-facile.blogspot.co.nz/ It really is an amazing piece of work.
  10. Haha yeah when you see one it's a pretty good sign it's a very old bike. Or one with the bottom bracket chopped out of a 90s Avavti mountain bike.... How's your build going? The picture of the track bike with the huge chain ring made me think of this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Minthorn_Murphy
  11. Thanks Chris. Yeah here's hoping it confuses. Don't worry about it, I might drop it off over the weekend.
  12. Hi thanks. I have been thinking about a Sturmey Archer S2C hub to go with it, to help me get started. May be. Yes that's right the smaller hole is for an oiler, I haven't tapped it yet. Some early bottom brackets had right hand threads on both sides and 2 small cotter pins to hold them in place. That's what I'm mimicing. Like this I'm not totaly sure when left and right hand threaded bottom brackets took over, by 1920? ish?
  13. This is still moving ahead, all be it slowly. It has taken a lot of braizing, filing, and sanding, It's finally ready for sand blasting and powder coating. Home made "lugs" have come up nicely. When I first started the lugs I thought that a bit of detail in them might be good. I carried it on to the dropouts. Here's a 53 tooth chain wheel for it. Double cotter pin bottom bracket?
  14. Oops No. Chris/cul8r.
  15. I think Escort do the prep and send it to Shiny Bits. You coming to Hanmer? By that I mean you ARE coming to Hanmer.
  16. I couldn't say for a pulley. I did get a set of 16"bmx forks done a couple of months ago, $100. Best bet is to go and see them. Probably.
  17. Escort Metal Polishers will prep and get it chromed. The finished product is very good. Or pm Dat610? word on the street is he may be able to help with the plating.
  18. That looks very good. That rockercover is awesome. I think you'll grow to dislike your 3 speed quite fast once your new motor is going.
  19. The little rubber boot off the HT lead hasn't come off and stayed on the plug?
  20. I don't think you need to worry. I ran my Escort booster with sidedraughts and one vaccum line off one runner for years. I had to make a restrictor for the PCV valve to stop jumping about at idle. If you do have problems make up a vacuum canister for the booster.
  21. Awesome. (the motor build) What's the plan for the new motor, hot slant six?
  22. Hell yeah! I'm so glad to see an AP5. It looks tidy too. The Strombergs and manifold, please use it!
