  1. what kind of adapter you need? is it the square one into a round one with keyway type deal? re. gbox
  2. you guys certainly dont muck around do ya! havent seen a car rebuilt to this extent before maybe the odd patch here and there, but wow you guys have it looking good. Well done to you and your team
  3. Got the wiring started, coil pack in place... made the intercooler bracket progress is progress
  4. So, bit of an update to the viva... Got some VR4 440cc injectors in, link is being wired in and sorting where to position the coil packs and associated components. Have bought a innovate MTX wideband for getting the tuning sorted, the way i see it you can always use this on a wide variety of things and it is going to be a handy tool, so it will pay itself off straight away. With a bit of luck this weekend i'l have the new bracket for the intercooler and the rest of the water plumbing/radiator in... the radiator and intercooler are it the same area so need to get them setup right. Have not sorted out any form of choke system yet, May need to bring that back in the mix. Anyways I'll keep plodding on... may be firing her up soon i hope....
  5. who has a lathe? We should try to make a standard stub axles (1800) fit onto bigger beefier hubs with some kind of adapter pressed in to accommodate the smaller bearing... ? anyway thats my idea not sure if its able to be done legally, but will keep the geometry of the car in a similar line... maybe it will be wider -==-... but yeh whadda you fullas reckon?
  6. nice one on the build, sounds quiet when your off the gas which will surprise a few when you get spirited... i guess asking for a skid vid is just getting old now? if not please post one
  7. Whats the going rate for a re-gass these days? i was under the impression its about 6 hundy odd...
  8. Almost but...... i did get some 450cc evo injectors so we are ready to assemble... will need to aquire some new grommets for the head cos mine are goneburgers
  9. wow just wow... all legal begal? nice wun bruv. Once you've been camping in a camper and enjoy those extra comforts that you dont get with tenting you never go back... got the usage of my aunts transit van over the summer and it was awesome, kinda feel stink for the people surrounding us in tents while the rain is coming in sideways but that soon passes, cold beers in the fridge laptop playing movies all lazy mode... sweet as. Well done on this refurb and your display of various brown lemonades...
  10. Yes this sounds good... the hub idea. Nothing ive tried so far seems to be simple so i just stick with the ones i got. teh easiest step is to make the front end 4x100 welding up and redrilling them to this. I wanted to run 5 stud hiace pattern/l200 /holden/ford whatever offset. all the stub axels for those models are too tall for retrofitting, so the next step is either make a hub fit onto the smaller diameter axle shaft with some sort of spacers or use wheel adapter which is way down the list of things to consider. At the same time running wide wheels and paying out for tyres may just be equal to what it costs for all this other fucking around. As a daily express your not going to need an lsd in the rear but if you track the car and you want a sweet skid machine tahi spinners just wont cut the mustard. To redo the whole assembly frnt and rear id say easy 2grand (shortened hilux diff + lsd plus custom front end) to get a setup thats working for you. compared to the expensive falken or yoko 13's for the 8" wheels that will be legal its still a slight tad cheaper to stay with what its got. Ah and do all this before cert and stuff just wont happen... So in short weld up diff and run stretched tyres...
  11. got into the ports with a bastard file and cleaned them up all smooth-like blended as best i could without taking to much meat off the flange side of things... additional sanding to make smoother after inlet was way too close but now its way betterer, i think i got a bit crazy with the wire wheel and cleaned it up... may have opened a can of worms to do the rest...
  12. Long time no update... Have had to shorten the inlet manifold by 25mm, was almost fouling on the brake master cylinder and i wasnt happy about the lack of space. Looking into hubs and if i can put a similar sized hub on these stub axles. I have been told about 4 different ways to change the setup but now im just going to leave it as is and run the wide steels. Have also still had troubles with my pc not liking the link sw, but i have to start again with this as i have the correct software now. I will need to upgrade to bigger injectors now too as these ones wont cut the mustard. Slowly adding the bits and pieces back on the engine and once this manifold is cleaned up and in a state to be bolted on i will start the wiring side of things again. Have been in touch with the Link gurus on here and all seems well with the Link so just find some bigger injectors and we should be making progress. If i want to run water lines to my turbo where should they be getting feeds from ? Was just going to put some t-pieces in off the heater lines. I guess in the big scheme of things its not going to matter too much... if anyone can shed some light on this i would be grateful... discussion: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?showtopic=29591
  13. cool yeah ive got one them manuals, cheers.
  14. West auckland, i thought they'd be like 200 or so
  15. Apologies if this has been covered somewhere else... So the bearings in my alternator are a bit squeaky, how much of a job is it to get new bearings and stick them in? Where does one purchase the bearings? would i just go to SKF or somewhere and get the same ones? This is for a 89 corolla. It would be nice to be able to do this myself, and certainly a lot cheaper than getting it done by a shop. Any info is appreciated Cheers
  16. This is a nice car, and your right about those windows, i have not yet had to put mine back together but tried once what a right c*nt it is... Is the stud pattern 4x4inch? looks really nice with the new paint scheme.
  17. Also check they are the original injectors, some are high impedance and others low, just means they wont be talking to the ecu properly.
  18. nice project, that cosworth engine would be mean for this shell haha... not too shabby at all chap
  19. yep ive got 4agze cas and mitsi coil pack. thanks kpr
  20. OK so i might get one of those innovate things off the tard unless someone has one they would like rid of. Link details - does that v5 bit actually mean its got the V5 stuff in it? i was told it was v4 D42V5F 4AGZE 140109
  21. Will the factory sensors run on my v4 link? Im mainly concerned about getting AFR values back form the 02 sensor? will i need to get a Wide Band 02 sensor? for my 4age
  22. the tube should be slightly inflated but not too much to save the tube from getting pinched, valve@12 oclock, bit of soap. the opossite side of tyre needs to collapse into the well of the rim in order for it to fit over without much leverage/levers/screwdrivers... ruber mallet, the rest on, hitting the rim and bead area lightly. practice makes perfect
  23. maybe look at projectzero in google they will know what up
  24. Not making excuses but Ive got a lot to do to get the car into cert shape, alas it would be a good time if i could bring this car. I will just keep plodding on. But everyday i seem to knock one job off the list, and then 3 more flare up. Replaced the caster arm bushes with nolothane ones, used some ford ones and drilled out the sleeve to 19mm to fit the rods thru. Super fat and solid, so im stoked on those even tho they are 70 bucks they are worth it compared to the decreeing 36 year old ones.. Seeing as ive got the front end out, im cleaning the steering unit up, looks like it needs a birthday. So i gutted it out and found it has some old school bearings in there like the old bmx's, so i'l clean and regrease and (try to find where all the f-ing bearings rolled to) paint it, also will paint the rest of the x-member so that everything looks mint and clean, then i can get the donker back in its hole.
