I tried kneedit but that didnt work at all was hard to get it to stick to the hole. Currently I have the bit of kneedit jammed in there and silicone all over the top, still dribbles out quite fast but isnt being streamed into my fan anymore which made a mess. Hey guys just wondering if anyone is in the St Lukes/Mt Albert area and can weld up a couple of things quick? Doesnt have to look flash as i'll tidy it all up later. I have strip of rust going down the drivers side pillar, about 15cm long 3mm wide hole and part of the engine my thermostat housing bolts to is pissing out water out of a couple of holes. Im hoping its possible to weld that up too. I have a whole fucked bonnet here to use for materials. My main concern is the water leak as if I can fix that I can drive it a bit further than stuff all and up to Kumeu where I can get access to a welder. I will take photos if needed. Car is 65 Super Minx. Just wondering if someone could do a decent cashie or booze/buds/whatever

Its for a hillman super minx so not exactly a performance motor. original air clean was fed air through a old 50c piece size opening so should be good. What do you mean by the idle noise? I am currently running no filter and it almost sounds like its turbo charged when im leaving the lights. Edit: Also where did you get yours? I just rang repco with the K&N part number to get a price but they couldn't find it.

Hey any idea where I can find a air filter this is about 50mm max height? Less would be ideal as thats all I have till it hits the bonnet. I found out ramflows are 60mm so I dont think that would work and not keen on putting a dent in my bonnet. Although if anyone is near st lukes with a ramflow kicking around I would be keen to double check clearance. I tested by taping a ruler to the side of the carb and slowly lowering it till closing the bonnet didnt shift it.

Its about $50 bucks for 500mls at the paint shop on wairau road. Cant remember the name of it though but a quick check of the yellow pages should bring it up.

Quick google of his name lead me to HiTech Motorsport so am going to send them an email asking after I measure the bolt spacing. I have no means of creating one myself. Definitely dont want it too high, would like to fit a stock looking air cleaner on top instead of a ramflow.

Hey where can I find something similar to this? Its to go from the super minx 1600cc engine to a 28/36 weber? Heres a picture for an example of what im looking for. Have not measured stock bolt spacing yet tho. just after where to start hunting. not really keen on getting one custom made as there must be something out there similar. want one like the one of the left

Vacuum advance is sweet can move it by sucking through the hose and it doesnt slowly spring back with the end blocked so I assume that means its all gravy? Oiled what needs to be oiled. The rotor was mega dirty on the contact part so gave that a clean up but that didnt do anything except let me idle a little lower without the car shaking to pieces.

Sundays my only day off so am heading out to check vacuum advance right now. Its the 1600cc version using some a solex 33sei or something along those lines, have a weber on the way which should fix that up. Will have to dig out the receipts but im pretty sure the only valve work I found was them giving them a clean up, cant remember when tho will have a look. Tuning wise theres not much to do, set the timing, adjust valves and play with a screw to get it to idle nicer. All these I have done. Have never had engine apart and would rather not at this point. Time to keep my eyes open for a set of new valve springs, not in a major rush. Car is still very driveable

I would have thought so. Engine in car appears to be the original one as I have about 30+ years of receipts and none stat any engine works except a valve clean up that i can find.. I always suspected it was happening at low rpm so i put a old tacho on it to check. Will try a second tacho to double check accuracy.
