  1. The choke on these goes from the cable to a crank, which then turns the butterfly’s via a coil spring. My butterflies often stick (usually open in my case) so you move the lever and the butterflies don’t move until I reach in and tap the spring to overcome the static friction.
  2. I disagree there. I really like the proportions of this bike.
  3. FYI. I'm reasonably sure thats a 79/80 model. 81 onwards had diaphragm carbs. Mine is rego'd as an 83 (annoying) but is actually a 79/80 model. Don't do what I did when I got mine, and buy a carb kit for an 81-83 model... it won't fit
  4. Nice. My one is coming up for sale soon too. Mine must be a 79 model as it doesn't have the rearsets that yours has. The pegs on mine are a lot further forward, and your toes smack on the massive stator cover. I think the chinese pod filters are restricive enough that you won't need to jet up. They're actually worse than stock those things. I have them on mine, and I am planning to replace them with UNI filters once I can swallow the prospect of cashing in for 4 of them.
  5. Bloody hell. Have no trouble towing the boat with that kind of torque.
  6. A year after ordering my SR-241's I finally have two of them in the shed now, so I can put some less chunky off-road rubber on. It also came apparent during Te-Uruwera, that this thing has quite the twist in the frame. It turns one way much better than the other, and is really obvious to those following it. So I've been on the look-out for a donor frame to re-build it. And also been wanting to find a spare set of wheels so I can swap between the skinny road racer tires and the SR-241's without too much issue. I scored this on trademe a couple of weeks ago, its an RGV50 I think, I reckon the wheels should fit. And then this came up for sale too: The new GT50 is actually waaay too good to trash for rebuilding my 100cc machine, so I might fix it up as a legit GT50, and then build something else eventually out of the silver bullet, maybe even using the RGV frame. So many options now!
  7. I realised the other day that I never did a "post Te-Uruwera post" The bike went awesome, it was truck loads of fun to ride. A little over-loaded luggage wise, but I was reasonably happy with what I'd packed. With the rain, I used everything I had packed, but I'll try and get a bit lighter this year. The bike tried to kill itself on every day of the ride. Day 1 - Heading along the big straight bits into gizzy, ringing its neck, max vibrations etc. Went to change down the gears coming to an intersection and the gear lever wouldn't move... So I managed to coax it into gizzy in top gear. Then stopped at the bottle store, got it into second gear with some wriggling, and then had to crawl to the motel in 2nd gear (slooooow on a TS...) Whipped the clutch cover off and found a screw that had wound its way out into the shifter mechanism. Easy fix. Day 2, heading along some of the big fast hill sections into Waikeremoana, ringing its neck again, absolutely flying. Did a big downhill section to a stop and it did a massive lean-out. The carb had slid out of its boot and was sucking through just enough fuel to keep it firing. Shit it got hot. I let it cool down for ages and then it was sweet after that. Also heading into Waikeremoana the rear brake kept over centering and jamming on any time I touched it. So whipped the wheel off and shimmed it out with a baked bean tin.
  8. Does this help? (The video explains how to use it) https://comac.nz/pvc sealing strip for piano hinge black 2m-2836.html
  9. Yay! updates! I hang out for updates on this thread aye. Love your work.
  10. Bucket Barry has almost finished his new bike. Introducing…
  11. All booked at all venues for myself, Itchybear, Duke blackwood and Bucket Barry Just flicked an email to Bill at Te Araroa, he was easy to deal with.
  12. It was so hard to get it on the pipe and keep it there up those big hills. This video makes me think I should get a new clutch for this year...
  13. That's the section where I nearly melted the TS100 last year having it absolutely singing not realizing the carburetor had fallen off
  14. Dylan will the 4130 need pre-heating for tig welding?
  15. Pretty sure I had a dream about this last night. I was trying to decide what socks I was going to wear.
  16. Did I have a moustache in 2019?? Fuck I probably did haha
  17. I would recommend against that one (althought it was my first thought too). I doubled the RPM of my TF125 and it started vibrating the exhaust bolts out. I lock-wired them, but then they still loosened just a fraction, and everything chatters without being able to come all the way off which totally fucks all the threads and mounting faces. Cletus patented locking device looks like a very good solution though.
  18. That was a great bike, I have been regularly keeping an eye out for another one. My dad still doesn't believe me that such a thing exists (he has 2 RMX250's). I remember mildly boozed land speed record attempts on it, where top speed was limited by bravery through the kink in the driveway.
  19. So the lights on this have not really been working well, and the battery not charging. The charging voltage reads at 2.2V. Which is a poor percentage of 6V battery voltage for charging. The 6V coil on the stator seems to be toast, although not hot, so just bread... Its dead. "No worries" I thought. "I've got plenty of mud bug parts, surely I've got a spare stator". Wrong... The TS100 has a points ignition, and all the mud-bug stuff I have are CDI. So definitely not a plug and play change. Last night I decided that my farm bike was never going to run again (Needed filling up with gas) so I stripped out the loom of everything I need to make some upgrades to the GT50. Next update should be installation of a CDI ignition. Flash as bro. Anyone need some mud-bug parts?
  20. I picked this up yesterday: Its mostly completely fucked... But it does still have the rear apron section which has completely rotted off mine. Unfortunately I think its too dinged up to cut off and use, but it will at least give me a pattern to make a new one.
