When I did this to the e30 I also needed a printout from a digital chassis aligner/laser thingy showing it was all still square and straight. Was pretty easy in the end except there aren't many panel shops equipped with one.

Flitch plating?

All good. Thanks Cletus. Something something cut outs not that big something something ahem.

Still keen on an answer to this tbh.

Waits with bated breath for the answer as someone I may know has done exactly this to fit a larger radiator...

Really? I thought it was only crumple zone cars you couldn't modify the chassis rails? Pre 19somethingorother.

Not sure if I'm serious ha. As much as I have a hankering for 70s Jap coupes, am also equally keen to avoid sellers remorse. Been there done that if you know what I mean.... -

Thanks for the reply mate. So possible but not worth their time and/or effort? I can understand that. Presumably the same for the M62?

Something I hadn't thought of to be honest. They are definitely a slug tuned thing. I'll have to see if he remembers anything from what ever conversation he had with them. Testament, they're a SOHC so no worries there.

This thread still alive? Have a mate with a BMW 850i which is basically a couple of m20s welded together. Anyway, apparently he's been told (by Kelfords if I remember right) that the cams in it are unable to be reground. To me that sounded a bit odd seeing as they are more or less a pair of I6 cams. Any thoughts on whether this is correct chaps?

Master metal smasher. I just cut mine off and made new ha! -
Any thoughts on running a heater at all? Always been curious whether it was possible, what with all the V8s and the like being screwed into Eskys and Cortinas and the first thing to go is always that bulgy bit on the firewall.

Lance Walsh still about?

In other news, it left the garage for the first time in a while today. Seems so far to be fine. Still a bit to do before a proper drive but it made it to the letter box and back yay. Bit of a different look too.

So, there was a couple of loose ends with the wiring to tidy up, namely the tach and the coolant gauge. Didn't really know how I was going to tackle them but I thought I'd shove the CAN up it and whattayaknow? Tach now works and looks as though the coolant does too, although I wont really know for sure till I heat her up. Which I can now do with one of the those coolant tanks that fits in front of the left strut tower. So I'm wondering if I should try and pressurise it or let it overflow as an E30 would?? I also did this Been a busy weekend.

It was a 2.8 and they're pretty uninspiring engines. A 3 is much better. And 300hp/420Nm sure beats 190hp/280Nm.
