  1. old lpg cylinder looks familiar... have another one to take out soon, still has a bit of gas in it though.
  2. This is the seam at the top of the firewall on my XB. My thinking, to get it done is to flick off the shit, grind it back to bare metal, reseal it and paint it. But I have doubts that is proper. It has a lip on the front etc. etc. But, you know, yeahnah?
  3. My XE crossflow did have LPG, and now it doesn't, which is good, and bad. I now have a jumble of vacuum tubes running all over the show and no idea what goes where. Much of it was just drifting without purpose before, and now the idle is shit and things are blowing and sucking like a Pride Parade party. I have consulted the manual I have, but these are oz-specific, and oz spec cars had all sorts of anti-emissions shite, where as NZ cars dgaf about Mother Earth in 1984. Does anyone here have a crossflow six that they can snap some pics of under the hood, with the air cleaner off showing what is plumbed onto what so I can get the old dog up and running please? Or a basic diagram. I have googled and trawled aussie forums, but like any aussie, they start talking about the problem, then drift off "nah mate, just put a holley on it" or other off-topic shit. 4.1 6 banger with a 34adm carb.
  4. And given how much englander cars leak, that's a lot of grass-killing
  5. Heater hoses reinstated. Fuel lines all as per OE. Most of the lpg shit off at the engine end from what I can figure. Wiring to remove and tidy up. Emissions plumbing to sort out then a petrol fire up will be in order.
  6. If you're gonna spend time/money on a head have a read of this: http://www.fordmods.com/ford-4l-and-6-cylinder-f1/which-head-is-best-for-250-xflow-4-1-t32204.html
  7. fairmont. Wider headlights that are getting hard to find, narrower grill you could fudge, bonnet has matching narrow width bit too. I had an XE fairmont; the centre console was awesome for fitting a crystal decanter and two whiskey glasses. sophisticated as.
  8. Have got a Fairmont front for it somewhere. Logic would dictate putting that on in one swoop but...
  9. Black plates is OS its in the fine print. No pics of recent. It's buried in dust and other stuff at the back of the shed with the front off until the guards are painted.
  10. Ears perked up. 6 banger crossflow bits? Do tell... Or even pre xflow.
  11. did it with rope, slow, but piece of cake. would trade again. stripping off the lpg gear next. then I'm driving it onto a truck and off to a guy to do the rust. Wouldn't mind someone to do some paint on my guards and bumper.
  12. I still have cash from the e36 and a few more dollars I saved; may chuck some bids on the XF from Dunedin that's on trademe and see how it goes. Got the fan off, so now i can rotate the crank easier so I've decided I'm doing the rope in the cylinder technique. (I also have an e36 radiator if you need it - saw something in one of your posts about wanting one. I pulled it out when I overhauled the cooling system, unsure of age or condition, worked ok when it was in, just changed it as routine. m52 auto rad.)
  13. Option 1 - Try the head-on valve stem replacement trick where you stuff rope in the cylinder. Option 2 - Pull the head off and do the valve stems. Option 3 - Sell the thing and buy one of the other Falcon utes on the Tard at the moment. Discuss
  14. pink, white and bright yellow wheels. maybe some bright blue.
  15. It's like Bathurst in the eighties. If you bring a japper they direct you into a paddock with the others and then you're locked in and they're all torched. Local volunteer firefighters aren't big fans of the concept but marshmallow sales go thru the roof.
  16. Mine was clean oil and not overheated, but had leak into the cylinder. was shit to start and shabby running for a while in the mornings until the water in the cylinder burnt off. What sorta mileage are you getting? Unrelated, just outta interest. I put a cam in mine that sposedly was gonna help but still only looking at around 350 - 400km a tank if I'm really lucky. Might check my plug gap based on your experience.
  17. I shall make this trip. I won't be camping, or drinking.
  18. That last post is last, last year. Doesn't seem right. Spent all weekend fucking around remounting the alternator and making brackets to fix the bodge job done on it way back in Reno. It now has a full swing of adjustment and doesn't squeak like a really inappropriate simile. Enjoyed three trips to repco getting the right length belt for the new mounting postion, only to realised i'd completely forgotten to include the water pump pulley into my mocking up, so put that on and the oe belt was the perfect length. Many hours wasted. Lowering is next on agenda as 15' Supremes look too big, so need to hide them in the wheel wells. Also rusty spots.
  19. Drove this today, adjusting the idle and carb until it ran out of gas. Wasn't mad. Love this car. That is so much dust on the bonnet.
  20. My eb cpi was doing something that sounds similar. Changed the map sensor and o2 sensor at the same time seemed better. Changed the head gasket a month later and it was was miles better. Small leak into 4th cylinder.
  21. I have stuff you can use for 'demonstrations' if you want. Will need it back after though. /cunningplan
  22. I have an alternative west aucks shed with assorted tools and shit that GC's are semi-welcome to use - ONly prob is the bay with cars that intermittently run parked in it, depending on whether i've started something and not got the right part to finish it, or too broke to finish, or too many beers, you know the drill, but yeah, if I have notice can usually move a car and create a west auck option with a light duty welder, compressor and fluff like that. No hondas. Well, maybe.
  23. For the time and effort and cost is it worth looking into just replacing? http://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_mercury_passenger/catalogsearch/result/index/?cat=2355 (Sometimes repop fitments can be shite)
