  1. In the process of sorting the cooling and radiator stuff I was hoping to find tout why the gauges weren't reading. I replaced the temp sender with no luck, so ended up researching some more and it turns out the CV voltage regulator on XA/B Falcons shits itself frequently. But, you can buy a voltage regulator fix off some geeze inOz for cheapish and wire it in and live happily ever after, so I decided to do that. I pulled the gauges, and added his module, and one of the connectors promptly fell off, which pissed me off. Regardless, repaired it and have reinstalled it, but still no temp/fuel readings - I also noticed one of the push-in bulb holders is awol - I am hoping that when I replace that it will complete a circuit and shit might start working. While I have the gauges out I've also replaced the acrylic lens covers; I went to Mums and lasered out the shape and heated it to bend into position - not perfect, but 174% clearer and mega happy with the newcar look. If anyone else wants some of these cut out let me know. I've also decided to pull the fuel tank and get it pro-sealed. The job I did doesn't seem to be up to scratch and flakey shit is still pumping through to the fuel filter. These are the days of our lives...
  2. Do it. I hope you're putting those porno green glass panels back in. What paint scheme you got planned?
  3. Ended up going and making a new one. Lasers rule. http://instagram.com/p/yxwj6VC2Z-/
  4. cheers for the offer, not over that way often but will ask someone i know who does a bit of stuff with acrylic if they've got it.
  5. Rather than fronting $106 to rarespares, anyone know if those headlight lens polishes will work on the acrylic that gauge lens are made out of. Seems to make sense. These are what i'm talking about. https://www.rarespares.net.au/rsnz/ProductPage.aspx?product=DIL2003

I'm having issues with my ea idling high too and have spent the past few days googling the shit out of it. The EA for sure, and maybe the EL have a ton of issues around idle and apparently they can be a prick to diagnose. I've been trawling http://www.fordforums.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=29 a lot trying to figure out where to start and it seems if it can fuck out, it will. Topline of possible issues on EA, some may be similar for EL MAP Sensor Throttle Pos Sensor Idle Speed Motor Inlet manifold gasket coolant Temp sensor - seems most likely for you with this prob. If you do enough digging on that site you can often find how to test the parts and check they're doing what they need to. I have a big list. Did you get a new map sensor or 2nd hand? If new, who through, I may need to source one.
  7. So I'm thinking maybe OS needs a ZebraDude's projects subforum.
  8. If I can find the keys for my car I'll try and get along. It's the closest it's been to presentable in ages.
  9. So these little chunks just fell out of the radiator top tank. Hopefully this is good, not bad. New water pump on, plastic flexfan, reassemble then brrrrmmm. Ideally not followed by clunk.

Welcome to the cunty world of E Series idle problems... http://www.injectronics.com.au/technical-assistance/ford/
  11. I'm working til about 8.30, so unlikely to be there, but the upside is I'll be fanging one of/maybe the first new XR8 in the country on some backgrounds out Ardmore way. Shhhh, don't tell anyone.
  12. headlining in. seat rails greased. seat mount bolt broken in process. fucker. seat rails now move and bench seat is straight. new smaller supplementary plate arrived. 'supplementary' scrubbed off with thinners. drilling to fit and replace bent oversized standard plate. it's the little things.
  13. My new daily EA Falcon (3.9 Singlepoint) idles high intermittently. The idle speed motor seems to be slow in returning to normal, so I'll put my foot down and it will hold a high idle - i can cruise at 60/70 on idle at times with my foot off the gas for a fair distance. I have done a reboot according to google research which turned up this - http://www.fordaustraliaforums.com/forum/showthread.php?17177-EA-idle-speed-and-timing-adjustment to no avail. I have a haynes on it's way in the mail, but in the meanwhile I'm thinking next steps is replace the idle motor but open to other suggestions on diagnosing fault.
  14. I have my headlining loose at the moment, and am thinking about putting my tweeters behind it given the ample room and my desire for a discrete install. Headlining material is a thin vinyl sorta thing. Placement could point them pretty much straight at my head. Corresponding cones will eventually be in the bottom of the door. Or should i just stop trying to be a clever dick and just tuck them in a dash corner - it's a big car, and they're not too intrusive.
  15. Palings idea is great. Looks mint. Am also stealing that idea.
  16. It got postponed and i didnt get given a new date. I also asked him for a few more specifics he didn't give me any. I'll see whats happs when work resumes but wouldnt expect much. Advertising people are dicks.
  17. Looks sweet - Are you aiming for beach hop?
  18. Didn't the guy who made the OG Gone in 60 seconds run a scrap/wreckers yard too? Spent a few years amassing cars before making the film... I see where this is going. Fucking awesome. Can I help with the screen play?
  19. i have kids in tow, will be a brief visit. should go check the car is starting today. excuse the headliner, work in progress. always work in progress.
  20. Where did you do the nightschool course, sounds like it could be ok to make sure you're basics are ok? Yeahnah?
  21. Please finish this in grey primer with black tiger stripes. When i was a kid i thought that was a paintjob because thats what most Toranas and Coons were painted out west. I think this would look boss like that.
