  1. i trawled the swapmeet Saturday morning. Fought the urge to buy an Edelbrock manifold for a reasonable, but not great, price. Grabbed the guys card anyway. Didn't text the guy with the 49ish Pontiac in the for sale section because I knew I couldn't afford it. Got enough sunburn and saw enough of the same old cars so decided to go home. Saw SOHC's Volvo in the front row of the carpark on the way out. Hallertau having beers and oysters at 12.
  2. problems. problems. problems. they'll never end. just flick it. I'll give you five hundy for it.
  3. If you're swap-meeting and see 15" wide whites (not crossply) or supremes in a 5x4.5 pattern, hook a nigger up.
  4. If I can drain, remove, clean and reinstall my fuel tank on thursday night I'll try for a saturday visit.
  5. Isn't fate the central plot device for most Gwyneth Paltrow movies? Not a fan.
  6. I always feel like a useless cunt when you post. But then, I also learn shit tonnes because you solve the problems I have and I can follow your path, and that makes my life easier, so cheers for that, it's awesome.
  7. I might have a spare haynes or gregory manual floating around. I'm in the process of unpacking so if more than one shows up I'll let you know. If you need tips on finding parts or whatnot flick me a message, I've been working on my XB for more years than I've been driving it, so know the best place to get a few things. Other things not so much. Gotta be honest, not so sure about the name. I keep hearing jizzer.
  8. So the ones in Trademe are AWC. Job done. Bullet centres and bullets lugs are mandatory.
  9. yeah, looking at those. Trying to get answer from the Tardme guy on who makes those wheels, because the pic is the same as the AWC one, if so, sweeeeet.
  10. Somewhat helpful. http://www.losboulevardosmessageboard.com/archive/index.php/t-127.html
  11. Yeah Supremes are second choice after Radirs, but did a goggle fuckfest and found some Cragars that look reasonable similar with my old friends Summit... http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/crr-500p571242/overview/ They did have one that was a tri-rib knockoff but no longer available. Those are a good price. /pre-post edit. Google image search shows them on a few things and they aren't so fly. /post-post edit: and then this. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CbR6G4yELDI/TrnjV7hDgfI/AAAAAAAABf0/3yZ41wwPsNM/s1600/A2.JPG
  12. I'd love Radirs but $ now the dollar is stink.
  13. Was looking at these on the Tard and doing a little home work, which lead me to this - LVVTA doco on Supremes and quality, which varies apparently. So, if I go inspect them before paying to confirm quality/construction I should be able to tell the difference and avoid the shite ones? Is the seller under any obligation to ensure/prove they meet roadworthy standards? Or just don't do it?
  14. ^ this is also relevant to my interests. I have a b28 in my e36 and it feels like it has two different power curves, 1 below 2500 and then a funzone after, but quite a marked step, thinking it might be Vanos related.
  15. Angus & Julia Stone? Does that mean they do AKLD too? Because that'd be dope.
  16. retracters? If not maybe just replace with new - http://www.seatbeltsplus.com/
  17. I have a centre diff in my shed for one of these I think - same as evo3? Been sitting a while. If it turns out thats what it is and you need one its there, cheap. West auckland.
  18. This is what happens when you let your car sit in a damp garage too long. Luckily all surface. This is post POR15. Next mission. Install these. So yeah, yesterday was spent taking out the RHF suspension set up, both control arms, spring and shock, pretty grubby. Then it was cleaned back and given a solid coat of POR15 - it's never going to be a show car, so I just want it covered and clean. All came apart with a bit of persuasion. The brake callipers were rebuilt about 3 years ago, since then it's done about 15km. So I will redo them. New hoses are a definite. Rotors are seeming like a good idea. Fucking money pit. I have tie rod ends but was thinking I might do those a bit later when I bin the Armstrong and put in power steering. Just a matter of locating the right PS mount and getting all those bits rebuilt. But first. This job. /edit: No the jack is not on the sump, the car is on stands.
  19. I find it hard to give up my toys. And one of the cool things about Oldschool is seeing everyone elses' build threads makes me feel like an inadequate white collar wanker. I bought a welder. I got started with the grinder on one of the bits of rust and made my first template the other day. Felt good. Now I need to find a cheapo folder and some panel steel.
  20. Actually, now I think about it the XE was on Shortland Street once, used by skinheads to chase some geeze who they threatened and intimidated him out the window. Much like I was doing in daily driving anyway.
  21. The XB is more than three weeks I'd say unless I did a rush job on the last couple of things. I've looked into the filming stuff in the past but couldn't be arsed with the faffing around vs pay for small stuff. That said my mate's XA wagon was the main vehicle in that 'Greek Gods living as Kiwis' TV show that I can't recall the name of show, he got a really good package. I also heard a great yarn over a beer one night about Universal Drive (http://www.nzonscreen.com/title/about-face-universal-drive-1985) and how they'd pay to use the Fairlane and return it full of gas every night, which the owner would syphon off and return to them in the morning for the next days filming.
