  1. Here's a few photos. Will put a few more of the work I'm doing when image shack stops being shit.
  2. I have decided since I'm not having much luck in selling the beast to finally give her a birthday. Don't really see much point running a build and discussion thread separately as it's not a big build or anything. List of things to do. -Replace carpet and under mat. Will probably dynamat her as well to try and quieten her down a bit. -Get a new speedo cable made. -Fix heater fan. -Fix the wiring issues and rattles in the dash. -Figure out why the stereo keeps cutting out every now and then. -Replace sweet factory single dash speaker, as it's getting a bit sad. -Fix Odometer and Tripmeter. -Reset the rear leaves. -Find new gearbox cross member to chassis mounts. -Fit an electric fan to the radiator. -Tidy up paint and small rust spots coming through. Things that I've completed. -Replaced all 4 shocks. Shit did that make a difference, she rides like a dream now. -Modified the gearbox cross member and mount so it actually fits properly. Things I Need (If you can help please let me know) -A tidy rear bumper. -A 6R Engine Complete or in Parts. -Mint replacement fender mirrors. Will chuck some photos up soon.
  3. Yeah there actually really common in european cars... Fiat Punto's have them about '99, 00's era... Shit loads of those cars in NZ.
  4. 99% sure the answer to that is no, they don't need to be fitted as long as the tailgate still opens and works on it's hinges etc, because it'd be the same as if the gas struts were buggered. And I know that doesn't affect your wof.
  5. I was thinking about reseting the rear leafs in my corona but they are sitting pretty much flat as they are, i'm assuming they will invert. Anyone know anything about the leafs in the rt84's, whether this is normal or not.
  6. Pretty keen for this weekend. Taking up the corona, should be running mint by then. Will drag Yowzer and 10 5 along in there jap rides.
  7. Does anybody know whether the 18r ignition system had a ballast resistor in the circuit? There doesn't look to be one and i'm wondering whether that's the cause of the warm starting problem. It has spark but looks really weak when testing it. Stinks of unburnt fuel when you've cranked it for awhile, so i'm pretty sure it's not a fueling issue.
  8. Just got back from wellington last night with this beast last night. Pretty stoked about the overall condition, and she made it all the way back with only a few small glitches. Pretty damn tidy with only a few things that need looking at. -Clear coat on the roof is peeling in two places. -Doesn't want to start warm -Carpet needs replacing, but isn't too bad. -Get my boss to give it a cert. -Straighten rear bumper and rechrome. -NOT A WAGON. I'm just wanting to keep it original, would i've been nice if it still had the original engine but the 18r does make it quite nice to drive, got plenty of power when you need it. Hopefully it'll keep me motivated to keep me on track with the 26. Will add more up to date pics asap.
  9. BUMP... Keen for an epic game for cricket... Anyone else keen?
  10. Those aren't classed as solid engine mounts. Ten Five did his RB25 mounts the same way using nolathane, they don't have much give though with engine vibration and twist etc.
  11. Unplugging the TPS would stop the engine from surging because the ecu would switch to limp home / open loop mode. That usually increases the idle etc. Sounds like you've got an air leak or something, and the increased idle would compensate for that.
  12. Crank Seal Oil Leaks can also cause clutch shudders. But it's probably not worth worrying about until you loser the clutch all together or it slips real bad.
  13. Most 80's 6 cylinder fuel injected toyota motors had vane type air flow meters (the flappy ones), repco have got adapters for them for sweet fuck all. Just smack one of them on the air flow meter and the pod filter on the other side and your set. Probably a waste of time though, not gonna sound that exciting.
  14. I apologize some of hamilton actually do like decent cars...
  15. Friday 5th June sounds like a good date... Anyone else in?
  16. Is it actually possible to pick up meat on Te Rapa?
  17. Keen as for a meet up... Nominate Yowzers place / Garage for the piss up...

    Alcohol

    Wax and Grease... Epic stuff...
  19. Could be hitting auckland soon for a parts run... maybe next weekend... Not sure...
  20. Nah they usually don't make much of a noise unless the a valve has broken off in the cylinder... But yeah when it happened to my car... Just ran on 3 cylinders and ran like shit...
  21. Pretty sure the RB30 will be an interference engine... Most jap motors are... Edit: Yeah sorry looks like the rb30 sohc engines are interference. So if yours is a sohc, then when the belt skipped a tooth highly likely that the valves and pistons decided to meet for coffee and didn't make it home alive...
  22. Hey does anyone no how much a repair cert cost? For rust repaired on a firewall... Does it need to be unpainted etc?
  23. The hole sounds like it's big to solder... Soldering usually works quite well. But welding or braising would work... As long as u clean that thing out and don't blow yourself up.
