  1. Not bad, I almost brought it myself as you know. But I've ended up in a 63' beetle, lowered as well. Which is pretty much dream car spec for me. These two should probably be seen together, next aux os meet or something? About time I went to one.
  2. Pointless update. Went to buy something from the super market this low as sadly she's being raised tomorrow (by like 20mm) so it's better to drive untill I can afford shorter shocks/cert.
  3. Would be down for scummy as pannier bag if there's one not being used. My ratty healing cruiser is in need. haha.
  4. Maybe I should look into this. It's just quite "floaty", easily manageable, but a bit of a wake up if your not used to it.
  5. I'll take em' off your hands man. Want shipping $$?
  6. I'm gonna stick with it as is for a while, I'm okay with buying tires. All kinds of driving sucks haha its floaty as hell all over the place, but I fucken' love every second of it. The original all mighty 1200cc lump. With a 1500cc gearbox for a longer ratio 4th.
  7. ^ Shit, good point. How's the motor in that? Haha.
  8. That corrects the toe-in rather than the camber ammirite?
  9. Yeah man's shes a tidy wee car. Patina'd paint though, but solid as. I'll focus on getting her a cert before I spend any other money on wheels etc. It'll cost me enough to keep buying rear tires haha. Getting her raised a little (20mm) on Thursday just to save these shocks till I get shorter ones. As I've got about 30mm clearance in the rear, been told it's too low by a few people. But we'll see what the cert man says haha. As Snoozin said she was on TM, but I got her through NZVWNUTZ.
  10. Discussion thread > http://www.oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewto ... 18&t=31407 I'm a build thread slacker, I still haven't made one for the MK1 Golf (I've had it a year and done heaps haha) But this I picked up yesterday, and am in love with. Fresh WOF/REG. Needs cert for lowering. 2 inch narrowed beam, drop spindles etc. New shocks. Whole new brake setup, lines/mastercylinder etc. Recond' gearbox from the states. So I'm just waiting till' I've got the spare coin again to; get cert, replace window seals, and roll. The drive home was awesome scary. These things steering is a bit of a guessing game. Went passed a bunch of cops as well, somehow no hassles. Can't figure out the youtube coding. ^ my old man asked for a quick vid. Will get some better photos up with progress.
  11. I'm running bottlecaps on mine, fit quite nicely really. Just looks a lil' sharper than standard 13" steels. If you do go lower and ditch your suspension for coils or something I'd like to call shotgun haha.
  12. I thought that when using EF shocks the rear spring perches were way higher and made it sit arse high on lowering springs. It seams yours hasn't? Did you put the springs on shuttle shocks?
  13. Keen to see also as I'm still daily one of these and wouldn't mind some low. Love the white though, mines a rude like burgundy.
  14. Haha, how much? Why were you getting them rebuilt if they're in pretty good nick? Seams my throttle pumps are shagged. EDIT: How much he charge you for the recon'd ones?
  15. Hey guys. I got a set of DHLA 40's on my MK1 Golf & have been told it's going to cost anywhere from $600 to $1000 to get them rebuilt. Of course depending on how bad they are inside. Any bro's on here do that kind of stuff for a living? Either way it's gotta be done. Hitting up webber specs in Silverdale as I've heard he's the best
  16. Took it to a guy, all the mounts are sweet, he adjusted the linkage a bit so it works better. But he thinks the reverse bit inside the box is a bit worn or the linkage is made for a four speed but being used in a 5. So when I get some monies together, it'll be time to dissect. Probably just park in places that don't need reversing (y)
  17. The stick itself doesn't move anywhere I don't think, but I'll have a good look around on my day off. Was just looking for somewhere to start, cheers. I noticed the whole thing is mounted on a bit of a funny angle so it could be something silly like that, or just a downside to a "not-so-pro" conversion. Ha.
  18. Well, I've recently acquired this MK1 Golf and the reverse gear keeps popping out, like you push down the stick then pop it into reverse and when it gets too much load on it it kind of just makes a whirring noise and goes no-where. What should I be looking at? It's got an Audi 3a engine and box. It has a bit of an oil leak from the gearbox, could this be a symptom of low oil? Cheers
  19. I may actually make this one, if the carbs get fixed in the new car ;D
  20. Haha fuck that video made my day. So mental, 200k and radiator hose clamps. So gross. What has been seen cannot be unseen.
  21. Fuck this thread is hilarious. And yes, put it on.
  22. Oh man, looked so sick. Gutted I didn't see it at the Nats. Got a bunch of pictures, here's some of the water cooled stuff; Got lots of the whole event if anyones keen.
  23. ^ Yeah, suspension was fucked. Is now probably a toaster somewhere, engine is in a mini though. (Down in Welly I think)
  24. Yeah, it'd be much better low with decent rims than spending your money on buying component speakers and cutting holes in things. Of course no offense meant, and the main thing is that you enjoy it really. Here Simon; viewtopic.php?f=17&t=24241
