  1. Makes my splitty look like an absolute heap.. Love the colour scheme, would love a panel in similar colours one day. Did you get the front seat covers in a kit or were they one off's? If so where? My front seat base has a cushion stapled to it
  2. Agreed, blame our current government's stance on diesel tax and see why.. I think going modern Ford or FIAT multi valve engine is the go. Duratec or Sierra Saphire twin cam would be my choice. Plenty of Sierra Cosworth Viva's built up in the UK, seems not a hard swap, the non turbo motor is still tough as. I see on Retro Rides the quad rotor is been suggested so that get's my final vote
  3. The mention of any Holden motor that isn't a 179 in an old Holden at any stage should result in ban. I think the V6 idea is a horrible one in my opinion, my opinion been just that. Anyone suggested Suzuki Cappuccino motor yet? if fuel economy, power are the desired result. Why not do some lightening? reduce unsprung weight, Rolling mass, subtle streamlining and go for efficiency with the current motor.
  4. Go with Heshbon, or ring around the hoist installation companies and ask if they have ripped out any decent old italian ones they want to get rid of. Just went down this road myself, seems it's cheaper in the long run to get something with a long warranty and service backup. Still got myself a cheap old two post shitter, already thinking I made the wrong decision and it's not even installed yet.

  6. Umm, I think the economy part of the argument has been forgotten. I would consider duratec of the smaller capacities, or a 1.4 K series Rover. Heaps of power from both, legendary economy, plenty of RWD adaptor bits available ex UK. Also the K series must be the lightest 4 cylinder not from a motorbike.

  8. I would suggest selling this sweet whip in it's current incarnation and putting all your efforts into a certain Multipla with maybe a bike motor conversion..

  12. Ditch the Zenith, this is a common fault for them. Get weber on asap, otherwise have a play with the idle mixture screw at the basescrew it in till it starts to falter, then out a half turn usually sorts them.

  14. ^That, try using a long screwdriver as a stethoscope on and around the engine- whilst an assistant keeps the engine at the revs where the noise occurs. Watch out for moving parts etc..
  15. Nail in the tyre or a worn timing chain makes that noise..
  16. First of all, it's you're.. Secondly don't associate me with boat anchors, only good thing about the p76 is they rusted quickly to death. also, rotaries, hunnies- chicks are easily impressed. We are taking about a 5K here, surprised it's got enough grunt to break an engine mount.
  17. ^ makes sense to me, kinda. solid mount = transfer of vibration somewhere not wanted in my experience. I would personally try other options..
  18. It's possible it has a bent selector fork, but with that it still shouldn't make a noise with the clutch depressed. Factoring in either a new gearbox or cluth, is the car worth it? If so do it, doubtful in my mind it's an easy fix ya know..
  19. but you can get it into first and drive it right? Hard to diagnose things when they aren't in front of ya. Have you tried putting it in gear with the motor off, then starting with the clutch in and trying to take off? If it moves forward on it's own, clutch. if it moves forward as normal, synchro issue. If it fails to move and makes the noise, gear is stripped. therefore box most likely ruined. Sounds unlikely to me tho, all the other gears would have suffered from debris damage.
  20. if it's going rrrrrr, i'd imagine it's a stripped gear, should be an obvious noise tho, if all other gears are working properly, 100% certain it's a clutch issue. replace <3
  21. Mount a stabiliser mount further up and bolt to head or similar? that would be my suggestion. That or get a mount with a cage on top with rubber mounting top and bottom, look at heavy front drive V6 mounts at pick a part.
