  1. Its going to look good on those wheels! Are you repainting the whole car or just the repaired parts?
  2. Intercooler pipes mostly done. Need to sort a bov and tidy/paint them Also sorted a water pump pulley and crank pulley combo- these I had bought ages ago as a box of parts off a marine engine which never fitted anything so had to modify a few things, now I can mount the alternator on the front of the lh head which is opposite to how they usually are
  3. Yeah the rules around tyre tread coverage are a bit confusing as the lvv rules are different to the wof ones But a big mud flap should be enough to make it comply
  4. Someone with '2C' on here https://lvvta.org.nz/documents/suplementary_information/CertifierList-Website.pdf
  5. Not that I'm aware of. You could ask a vinz/vtnz guy to check for you
  6. Vin no will still be ok. Once it has a 17 digit vin assigned to the vehicle, that's it for life. Next step will be fix it, get repair cert, then take it back to a vinz/vtnz for re registration inspection
  7. Last update for 2019 I got annoyed at my brain going around in circles about intercooling, between water to air, air to air, or doing water meth injection. Spent waaay too much time reading stuff on the internet I'd actually bought most of the stuff to do W2A but it adds a lot of weight and more stuff to do A2A means I lose the bonnet catch so I'll have to put up with 1x dick punch from @RUNAMUCK due to bonnet pins Water/meth is the easiest route but so much conflicting information on whether it works well or not plus the unit I was looking at was $800 So to stop going around in circles any more I stopped thinking about it and attacked the front with a cut off wheel and a hole saw Got some piping mocked up and the warm side, which was the side that looked like it was going to be difficult, is pretty easy using piping I cut up that was on the vg
  8. I'm glad I'm not your towbar or where it mounts to your Hyundai haha. Has it been registered in nz before?
  9. Nah it wasn't certed. It had heavy duty leaf springs fitted I find it hard to figure out why the company that did the work would have that attitude, surely they would have insurance, and the bad publicity would cost more than fixing the vehicle.
  10. I think if the plate was welded to the inside of the side parts, that would be fine You would need to confirm with the certifier who is going to sign off on it that he (or she, lol) is happy with it, as it's not a recipe in the book
  11. Put the other distributor in, now has vac advance again. Runs a bit better, I'll see if its more ecom on pertol over the holidays I managed to pull the ends off 2x leads swapping them over which is a pain in the bum, a couple looked a bit manky in the ends so ive ordered a new set off my favorite supplier of parts. Who, it appears, sort out the GST issue at purchase so no problems there.
  12. Definitely dont get any blasting on the shaft and try and keep it away from the seal also Have seen a few get ruined by underbody sandblasters
  13. The way I read it, if Chevron is the manufacturer and that is the style of belts it had fitted originally, it meets note 18 (a) on the page @AllTorque linked So if you can get something from them proving thats what they had for belts originally, it should be sweet I assume it has no cert plate?
  14. I drove a van with a 1uz in it once that had had toothed pulleys/extreme gilliez put on all of the accessories Goodness me it was noisy. RRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE It must have cost a fortune to make it all work.
  15. Hi David . I like that red. However I have noticed a technical issue that I'm not sure you have noticed Your supercharger pulley ribs go the wrong way! Also I cant see where your carburettors are going to go or where your mr garlits 3 hole fake scoop is. Regards, Clinton
  16. So good to see it out getting used. Do those transmissions have a kick down cable or is it all electronic?
  17. I've been tempted by a couple of cars recentlyish, but would mean selling my VG, and the main thing that puts me off is dealing with idiots and I just cant be fucked with them Good luck, hopefully the sort of car it is minimises the amount of chumps you have to deal with I'll keep an ear out for anyone after one
  18. Would need to go through design approval process http://www.lvvta.org.nz/shop/chapter-4-build-approval-process/
  19. Have you tried advertising anywhere other than here? It seems to me that would be a steal at that price, 2 door, and a good year
  20. 2x sets of wheels cert requires road testing on both sets so you would need 2 full sets Thread sticky outness looks ok to me. The 2 threads rule is meant for nuts, not necessarily threaded holes in things
  21. Ha Left it till the last minute before drag day, finally got around to getting some 50 thou shorter pushrods 5 years later. Put them in tonight but a bit late for road testing and waking up all the neighbors, but it did start, and didn't rattle Also rock auto to the rescue again, got a distributor with a vac advance so in another 5 years I might get around to putting it in
  22. cletus

    Diffs

I always leave the auto adjust thing out of valiant brakes too Also I'd be wary of changing shoe linings away from what size you have, you might find someone has gone to a narrower shoe to prevent the rear brakes locking up
