or alternately you could run a sr20de and bolt a t28 to it you can run up to 14lb boot on them there are a few guys i know with 200kw atw safely on a sr20de and t28. You can get all the standard turbo parts for next to nothing.
  2. You could try and run 2.8/2.9 colonge pistons and diesl/fiesta rods but it requires machineing and i dont know the avalability of those parts over here. takes it out to 2.1 though
  3. Wouldnt a digital spedo be an option. Or you could be rangi as and try and use a speedo from a bicycle
  4. I have a 2l cortina motor it sits just under half on the standard gauge, but there fairly inacurate. I havnt really seen mine go over half though i dont think it would be a big problem.
  5. i had a similar problem with a 32/36, but only when it was hot so i don't know if it helps much. But it was a gasket and a hairline crack when heated up it expanded the crack(also happend on a 63 tiger my dad had but with a head) wasn't quite full throttle though. But check all the vacuum likes and the butterfly's as well. It must be an air leak or such because if it was fuel it would just flood. manifold maybe? probly a long shot though.
  6. mm i think i get what your talking about and it seems that you would need to mill were you need the recesses?
  7. yea i was thinkling that but that would restict what you could do with it. do they run a hego or such? smarter to go megasquirt but then again its all about the money time and effort. In theory that's what you would think but a turbo engine still makes boost at low throttle possitions so the primary needs to be able to keep up. A blow through carbi turbo will be a bit rich off boost I found with mine that it liked to foul the plugs on long open road trips with a lot of cruising. That could be stopped by boosting for a bit every few kms though. mm i see you could just rev the shit out of it like a boyracer rofl. i geuss thats the price you have to pay though, if its not for a daily a few niggles shouldnt be to much drama so i reckon go read a few books on carbs then a few on turbos. but the norm seems to be a 32/36 or an SU if you look hard enough you might be able to find a turbo metro/montegro carb etc
  8. Im intreged by the whole tbi adapter etc? any more info would it work with say sr18di or a falcon tb? but anyways back to the topic at hand read a whold bunch more if your gona attempt this yourself, handy with a welder? search the internets lol turbosport has quite a few carb turbo setups, im assuming if you run a webber 32/36 you could adjust it like primary for idle etc and use bigger jets on the secondary?

    CA18-SC14

yea ca20 is weak you will bend rods etc all day, better just to go for a ca18. did you ever wonder why you don't see ca20 ca18 big power hybrids around, and i would imagine it would be allot easier to shop around for ca18 parts?

I had the same thing happen to me, it turns out that the cv boot had split and had heaps of crap in it a regrease an reboot seemed to fix it.

  15. Granada engine? 24v? displacement etc, could it be a 2.8 2.9?
  16. yup was getting fuel battery was fine it was turning over but the spark was out, so i pulled the dizzy cap off and had a look/clean up still wouldnt start so i looked closer and the condenser was missing a wire dunno how i missed it for so long haha. So got a new one 40 buck from ripco. Cheers for the help
  17. hmm yea mite be a fuel problem doesnt seem to want to start its getting fuel into the carb, mite be dizzy leads plugs etc aswell tho lol
  18. Ive got a 32/36dgav carbed pinto in my sierra(water choke) it has troubbles starting usualy takes 3 or 4 times ands runs off and dies when cold, im geussing this is a choke problem? Should the top buterflys be fully open when the cars off? And tonite pissing down with rain it wouldnt start at all its getting fuel, batterys fine. got to check spark in the morning. So basicly would a fucked coke effect it this badly to the point of the car not even being able to be crash started? And can anyone recomend a good place to take it to get it tuned, im fine with swaping and stuff just dont relly want to start messing around with the mixtures and idles etc, in welly by the way haha
  19. Yea the 34/34 is pretty rubish tho depends how you treat it i geuss. might just need a idle ajustment or mixture ill go read my haynes an maybe take it for a tune if i mess it up to bad Should probly get some one to diagnose the oil light issuse it makes me shit my pants in the morning haha.. when it decides to run that is
  20. Yea a Ghia aswell haha so even more useless electronics, anyone recomend any good pepole to see in welly? i talked to onw guy whos rebuilt a few he said maybe oil pump or has relly filth oil, ill probly give it a oil change. And apparntly the autochoke on the 34/34 dtfh is a bit bung so mite try another choke or 32/36/any other good carbs?/Hookups? haha Other than that its a great car was ownd buy an old guy in palmy who use to race pintos but it had been sitting for awhile so that could be the cause of some of theses thing.
  21. Oh hey! new to this place, an my car aint exactly old school either hah. Anyway.. i just brought a sierra saphire an im haveing a few troubles with it. Genraly cold starts. Firstly it hardly starts in the morning it will turn over a bit an run for a few seconds but as soon as you give it a bit of gas it dies off an you have to try again, the only way to get around this is to leave it sitting for 10min. auto coke? idle mixture? i thinks its a 34/34 dtfh?/i dont know. Thats the second problem when its on a cold idle the oil light comes on an goes away above 1500 but comes back on when the clutch is in/ revs drop. oil pump? any help would be great an yea it is a long winded post. Cheers
