  1. so it looks like this. back to what others have said. is it spinning the right way?
  2. Yea its got a lazy spin to it and its not connecting to the teeth on the flexi plate but its acts normally when its bench tested but as soon as it goes into the car its back to the lazy spin I see there is no earth lead going to the engine or gearbox........... then theres ya problem. earth ya engine, thats why youll be getting 5volts.
  3. is it a pre engaged or centrifugal starter? if it wizzes but doesnt engage its your solenoid which stops it from engaging if its a pre engaged starter.
  4. so is the the starter motor whizzing but not engaging. if its not engaging the solenoids stuffed.
  5. you can do it with brass connections. we have an awesome place called e hayes & sons down here but chch will have something.
  6. whats hangin loosely? the starter? if it is you will have a high resistant fault giving piss all cranking amps/volts even with your mate holding on to it. all a bit confusing the way you describe it. could be the rum though.
  7. BNT have them as well, also enzed or other hose specialists.
  8. started with the basics like a vacuum leak?

    4age fault

is it a trigger wheel problem inside the distributor?
  10. check the height as well, theyre a tall engine.
  11. what about this. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/ford/gear-boxes/auction-384167357.htm
  12. probably more likely to have goosed the points since you can run this with out a ballast resistor. put one in as it says, change ya points and you should be away laughing with a bit of luck.
  13. maybe i should get another project. wouldnt mind doin the body a bit better, its pretty shithouse and tidy up a few other things on the interior, cage it and put some adjusties front and rear to get it a bit lower, will see though, wouldnt mind a mk2 2door other wise.
  14. very nice. love the alan mann cars. got a 1/18th escort sittin on the fire place. who made the front guards they look like a good fit. mite get some before i strip mine down again.
  15. the msd didnt overheat did it by not having a ballast resistor? hence why it went for a short time before it stopped? just a thought.
  16. as already stated. have you done this? or have you measured the resistance of the original ballast resistor?
  17. engine and gearbox need to be within 3 deg from memory in relation to the pinion angle of the diff to limit vibration, my cars not that low, i just raised the gearbox to fix the angle and this fixed the problem. google has all the answers. havent seen an s13 dash in one. would imagine it would be a big job for it to look descent.

    fecking brakes

are the slave/brake cylinders all good? havent got one that is sticking a bit?
  19. wirings not bad at all. dash wiring is pretty simple, go aftermarket or do what i did and used a s14 dash cut to fit the old escort one and recalibrated the speedo to suit which is also very easy to do. if you want yoir engine to sit relatively flat i cut the top of the gearbox tunnel and raised it slightly to match the pinion angle of the diff to get rid of slight driveline vibration. Where in australia you from?
  20. Checked battery/engine grounding back to the (-) terminal? has it got a bov leak under boost?
  21. yeah have a look on turbosport theres a couple of mk1s chucked on wrx running gear.
  22. looks like youve been busy.nice one. i remember seeing this on trade me not long ago and almost bought it myself.
  23. down by your ignition there should be a grey connector, one of them is an accessory wire think its an empty bullet connector.
  24. nice change in direction mate, should be a good hauler form the family . sorry to hear bout your penis .
