  1. I know this seems to come up a lot - but moving into a place with no garage soon and will need somewhere to put the half built Cosmo + spares. Perferably somewhere south of Ngauranga gorge! If anyone has any recommendations or knows of somewhere available I'd be forever in your debt! (maybe I could fix your website? ) Thanks a million guys! Aaron
  2. I realise I wasn't answering his question, I just thought it might help with googling
  3. It's the super common mazda oil pressure sender thread. Common to most mazda piston engines in the 80s/90s
  4. Hey mate, We have some vacuum diagrams and an engine loom diagram for a 12at HB Cosmo on my Cosmo forum. AFAIK they are very very similar (if not the same), so might be worth a look! Cheers, Aaron http://forums.hbcosmo.com
  5. Man I remember when the quickest cars in SS2000 were bridgeported escorts/rx2s...
  6. I *think* that is the feed or return for the oil cooler... I can check for you tonight?
  7. lol, I was just giving you shit mate Props for still rocking the jail bar front!
  8. Yeah but shitty ratios. Apparently you can get FE bellhousings that bolt to fc3s boxes from new school utes/vans.
  9. I can sell ya a FE rwd bellhousing that will bolt to your block? That's about all I have left - most of the FE3 stuff is going to my brother to put in his Cosmo. The bellhousing just means you can use early rx7 gearboxs like the 12at type. Not as strong as the later rx7 boxes tho. Yeah, I'm up in Brooklyn mate! Should catch up sometime!
  10. Yeah mate sure is He is on the Garage HB forum
  11. All gone! lol Much to Freds disgust hehe Combination of things led me to drop it, mainly the fact that it was an interim solution - the car was always going to be a rotary again.
  12. Been a while, but - updates!!
  13. And my latest purchase: As modelled by the seller: So, on track so far
  14. I have an old eeepc laptop with a 7" screen I am going to mount in the centre console. Will be handy for running the ecu tuning app, and can use for a stereo also. Have got it running with just the bare minimum attached, and found an australian outfit that sells a kit to convert the screen to touch screen for $80AU which I think I will go for. It will have a built in USB hub also, for using alternative input methods:
  15. Came up with a plan! New years resolution: Driving in May '10 Goals: Jan: Get motor cleaned/painted/manifolds on, engine bay primered Feb: Subframe painted and in, motor and gbox in, rad/water lines in, fuel system done March: Engine wired, turning over on starter, ecu logging engine sensors April: Rest of front end wired, engine ready to idle, front end reassembled May: Engine running, dash in, suspension in, tyres, skids! It's gonna be a busy 5 months!
  16. Started working out how to fit the filter in the air box: Prepping the engine to paint: Brought some more parts: NOS instrument clusters Rotary bellhousing S13 front brakes/suspension
  17. Soo... after much deliberation - backwards and forwards... death threats, etc... I am sticking with the 12a Turbo. I have collected a whole heap of bits now... - Genuine 12a Turbo block - 12aT exhaust manifold, and HT18S-BM (facelift) turbo (and some spares) - Turbo oil lines - 12aT intake manifold, t/b and top hat (plus spares) - Series-5 FC3S t/b and fuel rails (plus spares) - Bosch 070 pump (same spec as VL Turbo Commodore) - Pair of 12at 720cc injectors - JC Cosmo CAS - FC3s and JC Cosmo power steering pumps/brackets - Original 12at air box - HKS "mushroom" air filter - JC Cosmo leading and trailing coils - ECU The car will run a FreeEMS ECU (NZ made baby!) The current plan for the engine is: - 12at block, 12at front cover - JC Cosmo CAS and coils - Standard (ported) 12at lower intake manifold -> adaptor plate -> fc3s t/b -> adaptor plate -> 12at top hat - Series-5 turbo turbo core, cut down turbine inside original 12at turbine housing. Either standard Series-5 compressor or a cut down T04 compressor wheel (I have seen this set up in a few magazines and seems to be a good compromise between top end and low end power). - Standard 12at exhaust manifold (with maybe a spacer so larger compressor housing clears intake). - 12at air box with big air intake cut out and HKS mushroom filter inside. - Water injector pre (and maybe post) turbo, triggered at certain boost/intake air temp, with reservoir behind right head lights - Standard fuel pump replaced with Bosch item, in standard position. - 12at injectors in centre plate with new atomizers, and using the FC3S primary rail The idea is to have a standard looking engine bay, but remove the intake/exhaust restrictions from the standard gear (hence the fc throttle body - should flow just over 50% more than the 12at t/b). The other aim to modernize the engine bay as much as possible. Included are a couple of pics of some of the parts... FC3S fuel rails (primary bolts up to the 12at centre plate) 12at throttle body spacer sitting on a fc3s throttle body - only difference between them is the size of the butterflies 12at intake (with fc3s tb)

  19. I have been on the waiting list for a large lockup in Masterton for a while, and finally it is available - but I am now moving to Welly! Wondering if anyone in the Welly/Wairarapa region needs some cheap longer term storage? Lockup is big and secure (I'm paranoid as about my car), and would be suitable for someone with a car/parts they need kept dry and out of the way for a few months? Not looking for much in the way of $$, just want to get the rent down a little. Prob something like $20/car/week ? Is negotiable tho.
  20. '80s pride!! Lots of people talk about that conversion, props for actually doing it
  21. Got a bit further with the sanding... time has been a bit short lately tho Finally chucked a sticker on the car! Moving the car to its new garage: MA70 tow car!
  22. Could get them zinc dipped? Yellow Passivate so they look like the factory gold bolts? Or return them and swap them for stainless
