  1. ill be monitoring the inlet charge temps at two points inside the manifold. not sure what you mean by the engine being hotter because its alloy? the engine wont run any hotter or colder than any other normal engine. perhaps you mean heat transfer will be greater between mating parts because its all alloy? anywho, ill be using standard manifold gaskets and thats about the best you can do. might have a play with water injection somewhere down the track but its not been a necessity in other installations Ive seen. sheepers.
  2. but this guy is the best, Aiden at drive inn driveline specialists. 827 2826. he knows so much about drive shafts and their components that is scary. he has plenty of experience with the cheap components that the big names (like Beattys and ADL) use because he's had to fix plenty of their work. go and see Aiden for the best price and the best result. sheepers.
  3. will post this here too, that is all.
  4. ok, here are some more detail shots on the last parts of the rear subframe build. if you have a question just fire away but i should say at this point that this was ALOT of work. ther were many, many times when i had to force myself out in the shed to sit in the cold hoping i would climb back under the car and weld some more bits on. it was not easy. dont say i didnt warn you........... sheepers.
  5. oh, and yep ive still got the crown, i just bought some wheels for it last week. i still need to do heaps to it but its had plenty of love.......... sheepers.
  6. ill post up some pics of the strut towers and whatnot i made tomorrow.
  7. thank you for your kind words. i shall endeavor to continue to improve the way i build cars and hopefully learn something along the way. and do skids. sheepers.
  8. some more random shit, only just got this, haven't even started the learning required to shove it in the V8, windscreen washer bottle and radiator overflow,
  9. i dont own the red one, just thought i should point that out......... i do have a red one but its not red at the moment, its more of a grey colour. with patchey bits. anywho, in conclusion, i have 3 celicas two of which are in the photos.

  13. me and the V8 will endeavor to make the next one of these. sheepers.
  14. thats a pretty cool car. i member when these were the shit! kids thought they were the boss if they had one of these. yea, also, my lumbago is playing up so its going to be an easterly wind for three days. i think it will be cool if you go fast in this car, mainly around a track. sheepers.
  15. i have a 97 LS400 with the VVTi UZ in it. it gets 9L/100 on open road and about 12/13 in the city. good motor, bit "steppy" as the runner length change thing happens and the cams move but plenty of go all the way to red line. for a 2 ton car its got pep. sheepers.
  16. ill have a look and see if we've got one. ill give you a text if i find one. sheepers.
  17. i deleted it. the reason i deleted it is because, as with everything you post on the internet, you presented you "opinion" as a "fact". your opinion is worth exactly the same as everyones else's, nothing more. you dont know, nor are you a tyre manufacturer. all you have is an opinion, yet somehow you seem to think that you have some god give right to tell anyone that doesn't agree with everything you say that they are wrong. they are no more or less right than you are. granted, some people have stupid ideas that genuinely are dangerous. and then there are the people who think that they need to keep talking until everyone agrees with them or they get sick of it and leave the forum. i would far rather have to deal with the idiots than the self proclaimed oracle's of the internet, of which you are one. you've been back on this forum for a very short time and you've already started causing shit fights trying to tell the world how you think it should be. im sick of trying to pick out the good bits from the mountains of shit you post so im just going to delete everything. and any threads, like this one, that start getting out of hand will be locked. then everyone looses out because of you. sheepers.
  18. cheers for starting this thread Clint. you might find that you get asked some pretty stupid questions but i suppose its all par for the corse. it will be very cool to have a definite answer about the sorts of things we talk about on this thread all the time, from someone who is doing this for a job. oh, and Mark finally rang me back, he's coming over on tuesday. cheers for that. sheepers.
  19. fuckin sold!!! in fact, if you roll them on your daily ill buy them for you.
  20. they are Calum's wheels. ive just been using them for setting up the clearance. im really stoked that the front brakes have come together, its kind of a fluke. and its not 100% finished either but i reckon it should come together quite simply.
  21. christ you guys, there is no way in hell id use those wheels^^^^^ im going to use a wheel thats not much better but they are cheap and the right size. they are called DTM drift's. in other news, ive not really done much with the front brakes at all. ive had the GTR rotors and calipers sitting on the shelf for ages but never really attempted to fit anything up. i had a play around tonight and found that the stock bracket will do the job with a really simple mod (its almost finished, pics when its done). im going to skim the OD of my crown hubs tomorrow at work so the GTR rotors fit over them and sit on the studs as per factory. with about another hours work the drivers side caliper mount will be finished. it will take me about 2 hours to do the passengers side and thats the front brakes finished. pretty happy about this because ive been keeping an eye on other conversions on toymods and they all seem very complex, different rotors seem to get used for some reason. why am i fucking around with brakes when ive got strut towers to make?????? well, i needed to clarify that the wheels will fit both front and back and now i know they will. so ill be buying the wheels for it real soon. oh, and the certifier is coming to have a look at the car and the rear end on tuesday. good good. sheepers.
  22. well, now i got the wheel/tyre thing sorted (im just going to run 255's for certing and see how they go, i have enough clearance just reduced travel) ive been able to buy the wheels i wanted to use. im sure lots of you will piss and moan but i wanted something a bit different and these are exactly the right size and offset for the front and the back. they are incredibly light too, and being Ray's wheels they wont fall to bits. it was really hard to get a good photo because they are so shiny and i have no idea what the dots are.. anyway, enjoy. keep your flaming to a minimum, im not listening anyway............
  23. my certifier is Mark Stokes and i rate him highly. however he is the most imposable person in the world to get hold of, you have to ring/text his protégé Clint and hope that Mark will call you some time. but he is good. he's piratical. he will look at something and decide if its safe and sensible first, before he decides if its to the letter of the law. Neil Fraser is a smart guy, but he's real hung up on the letter of the law. if the law says bracket must be 150mm from point x and yours is 151mm he'll make you change it. pain in the arse. still looking for a tyre that, A) i can get, i can afford, C) their web site says you can use a 245 on a 10" rim. still looking.
  24. got some more info on the tyre size Vs wheel width deal. if you can show that the manufacturer of the tyres you are using recommends them for the width of rim you are using then your good to go. you must be using the tyres stated in the manufacturers literature, but if you can find the info and the tyres and you can afford them then your good to go. if you can point me in the direction of tyre manufacturer's web sites for recommended fitments i would be most grateful. cheers, sheepers.
