Just make sure everything is clean, they're possibly the easiest car motor to rebuild in the entire world.
  2. VL gearboxes have gay ratios though, and 32 boxes break behind 25T's with a bit of abuse. Better to fork out for the decent box to begin with than to get coated in gearbox oil all the time.
  3. The gearbox to hold it will be $2k easy.

9:1 stock, the twin squish ones are a little higher. 11:1 seems to be the limit on 98, probably wouldnt want to go over 10 on 95.
  5. For christ's sake, don't jump start it...with your luck it'll probably fry the ECU and run a big end simultaneously
  6. Apparently the Altezza PowerFC works fine with the dual VVTi
  7. Worth money to the right person, but otherwise not really. Its a T series rear end, similar size to AE86's, but drum rear.
  8. Fuck, tax the diff for me!! Well, if you were in the north island anyway. It will be T4/50
  9. I hate you, purely for the fact you can still buy new panels and awesome bits from Toyota for your car. Otherwise, loving it. Good shit.
  10. Helicoil is the best bet by far...give an engine reconditioners a call, they might come out to your car. I had a couple in the MR2 that one guy came out after hours and did it as a perk. Cost like $30 for a couple of helicoils.
  11. Are they new or used ones?
  12. Is that the one I picked up? If thats only got a BHG, thats a good score.
  13. Yep, the R33 turbo is a far superior unit.
  14. With a decent ECU and turbo, you've got enough fuel there to make a cubic assload of power. Even with a cheap T3/T4 thingy off TM you'd probably crack 400hp without too much stress.
  15. If its still the stock RB20 turbo, then its gonna be the big restriction....at 14psi it'll be about maxed out, and you'll be close to 170kw(227hp) @ the rears.
  16. If you have access to the compressor map of the turbo, you can get a reasonable idea of what sort of power it can make for a given boost pressure.
  17. Fark what model is that Holset???
  18. Yus, much improved! Looks aws. Gutting bout the chrome trims though.

    Track rubber

Eagle F1's don't seem to like track action though, they all seem to shred themselves to bits.
  20. Where'd you score the new grille from Wish I could get one for my car!
  21. How old is the clutch? They start to judder when the plate gets worn out.
  22. Yeh, wreckers just south of Oamaru. Anyone familiar with them? Was there the other day (I work weekends, etc, nearby) and there's several R30s and 31s. Plus a 230 & 330 (with SD22 conversion WTF), KHGC110, SSS 910 hardtop, C31 & C32, high spec Chaser / Cressida, 80s Crowns, KE with SL badging and other stuff that rules. Hoping they won't be too expensive, etc. Also on the Advan note these are mine But again not for sale sorr. I have a set of those too...and these I'm loving the hideousness of the ones on the Skyrine, they're fantastic!
  23. Just has more clamping pressure, so bites harder. It may do, it may not do...Auto Clutch can make you up a heavier pressure plate if that one doesnt do what you want. You could also go really extreme and get a 3 puck clutch plate made up...that'll make it bite hard
