  1. s2000 motor, would be epic. Or maybe one of those sr20ve of whatever they are?
  2. glad you chose the nana one to do up! Also dont be fooled into thinking NA is cheap
  3. Im just annoyed cos my grinder got soo fuckin hot that the seal failed and it spewed oil onto my bare metal surfaces etc so now I have to buy marine prep POR15 shit to remove the grease. I spent maybe 3 hours today and got 1/4 of a square meter maybe done, just figured I was doing something wrong. I am extremely impressed with the quality of toyotas green paint. Maybe purple 3m disc will be a good idea. I have used one before - didnt last long but was good while it lasted. When you say paint stripper - which brand etc? Did some research tonight that suggested POR15 can be painted over normal paint, so I might just tear back the shitty parts and POR15 whatever is left. Will be amazing (CDL wat the fuck do yoooouuu know about toyotas? You bluffer, secret nissan/mitsi fan)
  4. So I want to POR15 the starlet floor inside. Problem I have is that the paint wont stick to anything other than bare metal as far as I know. I have been trying to clean off all the paint but 2 hours into it and a broken grinder... I did about 1/2 of the boot area. Anyone got any tricks? I have been using a wire brush wheel on the grinder but I dont think it is ideal.
  5. Powdercoaters better not be too bad, I hope not anyway. Last time he was pretty reasonable. Im thinking a few hundred... And yea paint will change everything
  6. New page? Surely *edit ... nope So my flatmate gave me heaps of stick about not getting much done lately. When a stoner mocks you about motivation, you know its time to go to work. so... Certifier came around the other day. He said its all good to carry on, everything is up to spec etc. Except the surge tank which needs a catch tray around it which drains out to the road. For safety... Now I have fully stripped car ready for painting engine bay and interior floor. Quite excited about the transformation which will no doubt come from a lick of paint. Also getting engine sorted, got manifold on properly and all the right nuts and bolts. Sorting brakes and brake lines too. All calipers are away getting a refurb and all the rusty bolt on parts like x members and diff housing are at the powder coaters. I hope gloss black doesnt look shit. Its the first car I have ever taken apart like this. Have learnt so much, its been wicked. I swear that with the amount of work that went into this if somebody ever steals it there will be a bounty on their fucking head! Its funny that my quick lil project ended up a full nut and bolt rebuild.. There must only be a handful of nuts and bolts which havent actually come off the car. Also mad props to Toyota, this car is 30 years old and wasnt exactly babied, but still not a single seized bolt and only 1 tiny spot of rust under the battery tray. What a minter. Anyway sorry, yawn. Photos from this to this Some people wanted to see my master cyl backing plate Interior proper raped Door cards etc Shows how tight a fit the throttle for the quads is to the fuel rail All my stuff off to powder coaters Shows how mint insides of guards and stuff are (excuse dirt) Hopefully progress will be swift. I think buying the ECU is going to be the killer really, everything else is working out xoxo Spammers discussion fred: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=24152
  7. I would appreciate it if you could make some mistakes before me though please? Thanks was the rusty car the purple/maroonish one with the huge firewall mods? That sucks if it was, what an unfortunate waste of your time huh.
  8. I get the feeling that this cars ca18de curse will be lifted once it pops a boosted skid. Glad to see that you came to your senses and put the turbo motor in, it should be a fun car with massive potential.

    Turbo upgrades

Out of curiosity... I dont think the TD05 is a BB turb - is there a reason that people avoid ball bearings other then cost? My BB turbo was basically amazing but motor was too ballistic to be able to tell when boost came on. Couldnt watch gauges etc for fear of death. I just always assumed BB turbos were the new black. Maybe not
  10. Hmm. Fuck. Brake booster might suck then!
  11. So I am using BT 20v quads on a beams motor. I dont really wanna run a map sensor but am going to, hopefully it makes tuning easier. What I wanted to know is whether i should us a standard 20v one or if an aftermarket one is going to be any better. If the toyota one is ok, does anybody have one for sales? I intend to run both the map and the vac line to the brake booster off the two small dia outlets on the TBs for cyls 1 and 4. Is this going to be sufficient or am I going to have to drill into all of then and run like a 5mm ID line across the whole lot? I dont want to drill into TBs or into manifold if its not needed. Thanks
  12. How do you get the exhausts to a roughly equal length to feed the single turb? Also car is the business
  13. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 601296.htm
  14. You need to poke your dick into a panelbeater. That is all
  15. Not much to update. Been putting interior back together so that cert man can get the idea. It all fits and I havent lost anything so mint. Made me up some ally door cards too but man its so dirty in these pics. Looks much tougher in real life. Note there are rear door(?) cards too to cover up the big triangle gap. Also have finally sorted handbrake cables, sourced from bluebird that rear calipers are off Nothing else getting done for a few weeks
  16. Made me lol for real, couldnt have said it better!
  17. surely it depends what part of the speedo drive he is talking about? The cable into the speedo drive or the speedo drive into the gbox Also Roman smashes multiple boxes according to his nzdating prfile
  18. What are the rims on it in the last pic?
  19. Engine bay looks so tidy! You mentioned a 10a e shaft in your first post - whats that about? Is the motor in the viva a 12a or a 10a?
  20. Yeah I think it would take a long time to get used to that car in corners. Windscreen was only hard cos I spent 2 hours trying to do it the wrong way! Starter motor is close but doesnt foul, so all good. And the sunnies are fakes
  21. Some progress over the break... This is the ke20 heater I am going to use. Simota baby yeah. It works well, the starlet controls fit it well enough to work. Dash test fit, surprisingly it still fits fine... New windscreen rubber, was suuuch a cunt to fit Standard headers look good Honda civic radiator and new filtaaaah socks
  22. where was it? was it running good and hauling ass etc?
