It looks so nice open to my eyes. Would a removable cabin be an option? Kind of a ute boat.

how's your jetting? 140/140 main and 55/50 idle jets are a good starting point for ea81

I'd probably go for the honda, with a dream to gut a seagull and convert it to electric.

I got a txt from him when I was on the ferry, but no further reply when I asked how much life he thought was left in the CVT. I'm out your way from tomorrow @yoeddynz. I'm looking forward to a punishing bike ride up the hill (I'm really really unfit rn), a hoon in the imp (we can pop middy in the front to improve handling), and a look at the cube. I'd quite like a cube³ because they're 17cm longer and I want to be able to crash in it after heading to gigs in Wellington. If you take the headrests off the back seat folds forward and the front seat folds back to make a pretty unconvincing bed.

I came across this buying guide from the UK nissan cube owners club. It doesn't seem like there are any specific cube problems. https://nissancubeownersclub.com/2017/06/02/so-that-elusive-buyers-guide/

I missed the K11 craze but I'm feeling tempted to get in on a cube before everyone else catches on and prices go orbital. Is there anything I need to look out for when I'm test piloting one?

If the ea71 was wobbly, something was wrong with it, or it was the driveline problem. hopefully the new motor will be super smooth.

I'm a fan of penetrol for preserving patina. If you dilute it with terps it seeps into all the rustworms under the paint and seals them. So easy too, and easy to touch up. I don't like the look of clear over patina.

Tech Spam thread - because 1/4" BSP gets 5 hand spans to the jiggawatt

I think the DC-DC converter to charge the 12V battery is about 1500W so should be OK for freezers but not so much for hot water. -

Bit late to leaf battery chat but this is my tactic. I got lucky and picked up a gen1 60% battery for about $400. Add $150 BMS and some tther bits and pieces and it's a very cheap 14kWh battery. -
I picked it up in great condition for a great price. It was dusty as fuck so I guess the 88 year old original owner hadn't used it for a while. A bit of a clean and she's looking quite nice. This is the facelift version of the 201. The original version was cast iron but post war they made this lighter version out of melted down spitfires. It went from about 15 to 12kg without base or motor, whereas the modern singer Heavy Duty 4452 model weighs 6.4kg all up. It's known for being a battleship but I've only owned industrial sewing machines before so it still feels pretty dinky to me. The machine itself is the smoothest and quietest I've ever owned, but the motor was noisy, hence the strip down. The commutator cleaned up nice and the bushings got a little oil bath. everythjng seemed to be a nice fit so I was starting to wonder why it was noisy when I saw the wire to one of the brushes had a dry solder joint. I soldered that up and slapped it back together and now it's running nice and quiet. The only trouble I had was that someone had been in before me and damaged one of the threads on a screw. They fixed it by loctiting it in, so when I tried to unscrew it the head popped off. This made disassembly a bit tricky but I got there. I gained a couple of Barry points by having a screw with the correct thread and length, but lost three points because its the wrong colour and the head is different. Still, plan B was going to be a retap for a metric cap head screw.
