  1. Voltage drop is normally cause by age and added resistance in old wires from what i know, you could look at running a relay system from ignition switch to the coil rather than new feed. Most cars should have 12v at the coil while running unless they run a ballast resistor in that case, when cranking(key in start position) coil gets 12 v and then drops to 6v (normally) once the key is in the on position by running through the resistor.
  2. all the things already said are great points, i would also be checking every hose to see if the har hard and make a crunching noise when squeezed (if yes serious flush needed) or if the are far to soft (if yes relace them) other than that load up car and drive up biggest hill you can find if it does not over heat you will be fine.
  3. From what i know of the mitsi the 2.4 mitsi fuel injected also runs the wideblock engine.
  4. This is now with an old school member in Hams, is anyone heading down to welly?

  8. Disconnect the fuel pump, so no fuel comming from tank. Get some engine start ( lynx or flyspray will also work ) spray down the carb and try and start. if it runs it the carb if it doesnt, start looking at spark

  11. mine did the same and we put a treatment fluid into the trans and it went away, give it a go before you do anything else drastic.
  12. external regs can cause some fun problems, my one would travel about 50km then stop working untill it was cold and then work fine again.
  13. please keep me updated on how you go with this as i have one that could a recon too.
  14. there is a guy a BNT Paraparaumu called nick he does this as a side job you could try and contact, the story is that every dellorto in nz came here from his uncle and the family have been doing it for years.
  15. Paint is paint, POR and Hammer Rite are great but if you do not strip, sand and primer and so forth nothing will stick for very long.
  16. you could try Hydraulicing it off by filling 1 or two cylinders with oil and then turning the engine over, but only do this if you are positive you have all the head bolts off and cam removed
  17. The milkshake normally happens from lots of short trip running and condensation build up, of head gasket leak. Coke bottle trick is good try doing and oil flush and then change and driving it the long way wherever you go to stop the condensation build up.
  18. before you get a new battery, start car test volts = x turn on hazzards, heater, headlights hold revs around 2500rpm test volts = y If volts with everything running is higher that x and is holding that i.e 14.1,14.2 14.4 may flucuate a little) then it is the battery. If y is the same as x or lower it is not charging
  19. Sorry should of put this in the first post, I have tried all the usual places like Novus, Smith and Smith and rare spares they can not provide. I can get a roll from Basis but due to the shape of the corners on the gto screen it is not advised to make one.
  20. I am trying to find new front and rear windscreen rubbers for my GTO. I can not get them from mitisi as they no longer make/stok them for this car, does anyone know where to get after market ones or if any from another mitsi will fit? I am also tring to get the rubbers that run up the quater window to seal between the door glass and quater window.
  21. you can get a thermostat with a lower opening temp which allows the water to flow sooner which in tern will cool it by a couple of degrees. 200f should be fine water under pressuse has a higher boiling point. Fan thermo switch are cheap to buy, they come in all temps, the easiest to install in a neg earth one as it one needs two wires one side of fan straight to pos on batt the other fan wire to the switch, If you know how to wire then you can get technical with fuses and relays but you dont need them.
  22. I had the same problem and it was bad earth, as my earth from bat was attached to the same screw that holds voltage regulator on.
  23. i have one of these gearbox too. it has a very big spline on it it had to have an abnormal clutch plate is it poss an RS2000 box?
