  1. With my XF we didnt go to heavy on the ports, just matched them to the new inlet manifold, and opend/cleaned up the chambers behind the valves. Didnt see any point doing big ports when the manifold cant be opened up much more without getting to thin. Will be doing a big valve head when i freshen up the motor again.
  2. Ex speedway engine, had receits ect for it, was a 205 block, major over bore and resleved, and slightly stroked with custom rods. Need a good pic of the ports etc, those valves look pretty big, wonder if he's had it opened up behind the valves and not just the ports?
  3. Agree new exhaust FTW, yeah mean read aye, got 1 for the mighty XF? Had so many problems back when i had pintos, my 2.3 used to do headgaskets every couple of eweeks, and after a bit of a thrash the exhaust manifold would be glowing bright red, went hard though
  4. Yeah but you dont see many offroaders with ford stud, id say speedway more than likely, B grade saloon
  5. Na they have a cross over pipe any way (well the 2 i had did), so just need to cut that off and it will be on the right side. OOPs, 1600XF cortinas DONT have the crossover pipe, its the 2L pinto cortinas that do. Sorry, i havnt taken much notice of the underside of pinto'd fords in the last few years.
  6. Keep to a good brand and you'l be sweet. Someone like Quaife will defintly be alot more likely than a real cheepo brand to be accurite.
  7. Escort 4spd, but with a longer tail so its the same length as a cortina/seirra box
  8. No there a home made/custom deep dish RWD, front wheel drives have neerly no dish, thats why you see rangi ford lasers etc with modgies they stick miles out.
  9. Na they wernt too bad, you dont normaly need to change the drive shaft with cortinas (mk3,4,5) as the type 9 is the same lenght and has the same spline as the pinto engined tinas. Also the mk3 2l shaft is the best 2L 1 to use as its not a 2/3 peice like the later models. I snaped 3 of those rubber doughnut things on my old mk4
  10. I should be able to get bearings easy enough etc.
  11. Yeah, Quaife ones are the shit! Am getting a twinrow chain 1 for my XF.
  12. I got my 1600 XF out of a mk3 tina, some did have them. If yours does have the XF you will need the 2L cortina drive shaft, as the 1600 one is the right length but has the small escort spline.
  13. Depends if there the girling, ata or volvo brand ones, will measure the 1s we've got next time i got down the yard, cant be stuffed googling it.
  14. The volvo ones arnt much bigger (oil volume wise), have a bigger pad face and if the slotting so dodgey they wouldent have been used on race/rally escorts/cortinas in Aus for the past 20 years. But either way there both good calipers.
  15. Want to sell the rest of it? I think bh would fit my bg5
  16. What model legacy/got any more bits?
  17. You can use 2.8 capri disks, but the best 1s to use are e30 bmw 323i disks. They just need a lil machining. Thats 2mil from the hub and 2.5 from the face. And from memory 2mil off overall diamiter.
  18. The slotings easy enough to do, basicly just redrill Whats a pair of APs worth? I havnt seen many pairs of them for $50 or under, also how about the fact the volvos have larger pistons?
  19. Mount needs to be slotted, think you can get away with capri disks, il post some pics + info soon

    Pinto Upgrades

Iv got the filler neck (no cap) and should have a spare tail light around. Also have mk1 capri gt struts here too
  21. Very similar at least, only owned it a week then found another ford.
  22. I had a green 1 with that front for a while.
  23. Try http://www.palmside.co.nz they do a lot of rally parts for escorts and toyotas etc
  24. Rover 3.5s are lighter than pintos, about the same as a crossflow from memory (but that could be the p76)
