  1. strait 6 i take it? 6 or 3 coils? lem will only run up to 3 coils
  2. theres no room in a lotus 7 for a wide or tall radiator. thats why its thick
  3. dunno yet, between 7 and 900 i think, bt then i need sum alloy tube bent and a alloy header tank made too. hope it doesent get too expansive. but the standard esky rad cudnt cool the zetec to save its life
  4. im getting one made now. its a custom made core from austraila becos the size i needed wasnt a standard size. its a 2 core but each core is 25mm tube. same height and width as escort but can cool up to 300hp
  5. those cossie pistons will fit standard cortina/sierra block. iv got some in my one. pick up a old 205 engine and use the whole thing. the rods are way stronger than cortina ones. new bearings all round. its hard to find aux shaft bearings in nz.
  6. is it for a pinto? if so there some rs500 cosworth forged pistons on trademe for $450. they will also lower the cr.
  7. changing rod length alone wont change displacement, just compression ratio. altho rods are usually changed when different throw cranks are used to restore cr. ie shorter throw longer rod and vv.
  8. nothing you do to the head will increase cubic capacity. if anything decrease compression. xr6t wud be cool tho, awsum engine.
  9. wow 7g! i just had my turbo pinto on the dyno last week had 160hp/4000rpm at wheels, a lil dissapointing but i got a few things up my sleeve lol. u will most likely need forged pistons if u want any power, some good cosworth ones on trademe at the mo, these will also reduce your cr to a turbo friendly rate. fuel injection is the way to go, carbs can work well tho jst its eaiser to tune a computer than a carb. good luck.
  10. holly shit, i just ripped a 4g63 out ov a zr4 today to put in a ex lancer!! i was goin to use a L200 gearbox tho. it shud fit gud, multi coil so shudnt need to cut firewall at all i hope. gud luck man.
  11. i kept them 260 mm, redrilled the holes 45 degrees around the right size and pcd. turnd out the center hold to rite size. ap caliper went straight on with about 10mm ofset spacer. ohh and i spaced the caliper to accept the vented disc. also had to grind a lil bit off the inside of the outside pad so it cleared the step in the disc if that makes sense. discs only cost me $45 each from repco
  12. ap calipers, 260mm vented discs frm bmw. works better than most new cars. plus no fade when racing
  13. replace the alloy front cover which the pointer is on. hw did it snap off? its in a hard place to see, its at like 10 o-clock
  14. deffently get that book 'How to modify your ford ohc' by david vizard. a whole book on every aspect of pinto performance including port shapes. Has cross-section views of standard verses different stages of porting with flow comparasions. its a good guide and he knows his stuff. 1st rule - old cunts know there stuff. and rt, what kind of clutch set up r u running in capri? i got the cortina running good as but the clutch cant take it once outa 1st gear.
  15. can you not just mill out a slot in the manifold where it will hit, not all the way through jst deep enough to clear under full throttle?

    HPC coating

i had a big heat problem wif my turbo cortina, i made a heat sheild out ov that ally coated crinckle shit that xr6 turbos have. bolts to the top 4 exhaust studs and protects the leads. used to melt leads in half b4 i did that. acl makes it in sheets. any auto place cud get it frm them. hpc does look trick tho
  17. exactly, steel wheels are stronger therefore thinner at the stud hole then alloys, these studs are designd for steel wheels
  18. studs are easy to change and they defently should be changed when wheels are changed to alloys becos the wall is thicker so less thread to hold wheel on. john bates which is around da corner from fortec wil have sum or can get sum over nite. i think you need 6 full turns of thread.
  19. my turbo pinto when it had a shitty exhaust on it only reved to 4000rpm unda boost, off boost it would rev to the limiter. now i made a 2.25inch exhaust all mandrel bends and it revs to the limiter under boost easy.
  20. i take it that u have checked the oil pressure with a gauge? yea clean the top oil feed line.
  21. dont slot them unless the wheel is sitting tight on the centre spigot. studs are for holding the wheel against the hub, any extra sideways stress will cause premature failure. especially if they arent slotted evenly. was it origionally a blank wheel? ie can it be compleatly redrilled 45degrees around?
  22. hey nah iv only done one conversion of that type. It is in my scratch built lotus 7 replica. Effortless performance im only new to this site. Done a bit of turboing, no expert on it tho, couple of cortinas and a ride on lawnmower. currently doing an efi cortina turbo.
  23. afew tips. type 9 boxs bolt straight up to zetec, even my mondeo clutch had the same spline as the type 9 input shaft. just need to put a spigot bearing in the end of the crank. Be sure to get a manual engine not a auto then convert! other wise the crank angle senser doesent line up with the teath on the flywheel. Put a 1600 zetec water pump on it off a escort, it spins clock wise. this way you can ditch the power steer tnd ac pumps but still use the factory tensioner and use the factory alt bracket. cut the top off the alt bracket where the old fwd engine mount was. Run a bit of stainless pipe from the thermostat at the back of the engine up to the radiator. make up some headers and a new inlet manifold to accept 4age quad throttle boddies, run a link computer and you have a reliable 170hp. any questions or want zetec work done email me leadedeke@hotmail.com cheers Jason[/img]
