  1. Yeah man, over a year in the making. Clutch + retune then it'll be sweet to drive around till I need to start on the body work.
  2. Working on the clutch, found a nice Tilton triple plate that I'm pretty keen on, just need to sort out what to do with this thing:
  3. Passed cert today, no more problems. Just need my cert plate and then a warrant!
  4. Welded a bracket onto the vacuum canister this afternoon and put it back on the car tonight, it's finally ready for the cert recheck so hopefully the Hoff can fit it in this week, then it's about 5 days to make the cert plate up then I can try for a warrant hopefully not this weekend but next weekend.
  5. Yeah, bit tricky with cars like mine, made in 1978 but it still had a cat fitted from the factory and with the way the old rules read my new motor was after the year cut off for not having to have a cat fitted, I think it was like 1988 for Jap motors? So I would have had to fit one. But the old rules were silly anyway as you don't need a cat for a WOF so you could just take it straight off anyway, the place that was doing my exhaust was going to lend me one before I found out about the change!
  6. Yeap, I'm lucky this happened or I'd have to fit one to my car which is just going through cert. It's even better as from what I understand it's any car registered in NZ before 1st May 2010 (or 2012 in some places in that document).
  7. So what's the plan for this one? F20C swap?
  8. Get him to help you finish yours before you start on this one.
  9. Jesus that was painful to read. What are you going to do for a computer?
  10. Should be easy to get to if you look under the car, I think you'll prob need this one though: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/nissan/gearboxes/auction-459911459.htm
  11. My old boss uses one in his Targa car, he recommended my mate buy one which ended up dying after maybe a year, probably from not being very well maintained, you really need the correct charger for them (which are around $100ish from the same place). He replaced it with another Vertex battery and it's still going sweet - this is cranking over a 3L V6 with the battery mounted in the boot. They have very small bolts for the terminals though, only 5mm from memory.
  12. Newest car I've ever owned! After selling the R30 I thought it was time to buy a run around/daily. Bought this reasonably cheap, it's done heaps of k's, it's got what I believe is called a series 2 VVT RB25DE which I didn't even know existed, I thought all the N/A VVT ones were the same but this one doesn't have an ignitor like the series 2 RB25DETs. It's an automatic 4 wheel drive model. Plans are at the moment just to tidy it up a bit, it's had a minor smack in the right hand front, somebody has replaced the guard previous to me buying it but the grill is broken and the headlight/park light are out of whack. I'm trying to track down an RS/Turbo mesh grill for it. Might buy some of the fake BBS LM's for it, I think 18s would suit the car pretty well as it's absolutely massive. If I keep it for long enough and if the Z starts failing warrants due to rust (which it probably will) I'll pull the RB out of the Z, bolt the 4WD sump onto the RB26, buy a GTR/GTS-4 gearbox and drop it in this. Then it'll be time for an R34 front conversion etc etc
  13. Don't know much about this but I've heard of brake hoses collapsing on the inside allowing fluid to go one way but not the other. Or the master cylinder isn't set up properly.
  14. If you want to go with COP what about VQ30DE coils? There's always heaps of them at P&P, they seem to be okay at 20+PSI & 500rwhp. I'm using Mitsi coil packs in wasted spark on my car though, they seem to be fine apart from the terminals being fragile if you are a gorilla.
  15. Well it would actually fit an L20B, but wouldn't be any use hah! As long as you aren't trying to fit an optical dizzy the only thing you will need to play with is as mentioned above, make sure you get the bottom plate that bolts between the dizzy and timing cover as they are different, I'm 90% sure of that.
  16. L28 electronic dizzy would be the easiest swap, there are heaps of write ups on how to do it for 240Z's etc so the info should be pretty easy to find.
  17. Looks good, has it been repainted or that the original paint? Hope you've done something with the cooling system, those rusty marks around the radiator cap aren't a good sign.

    flywheel dowel pins

I'm pretty sure either Blacks Fasteners or Saeco keep hardened dowel pins, that's what I've put in flywheels before.

    Show me your 9's

And the first link that comes up is "Why Hellaflush Sucks", excellent.
  20. What struts & front hubs are you using? Did you need to space the caliper at all? Definitely looks awesome on the Watanabes, did you buy them brand new?
  21. Just re-read your original thread, just out of interest I had HBI make new ball joints for my car that were approx 10 - 15mm longer to help with the roll centre on my car. They said that they do this all the time and make the ball joints for the V8 Supercars like this. Cast steel and cast iron are two different things as well.
  22. Got the mufflers straightened up. Wrapped the downpipe and got my turbo beanie fitted. Car is not ready to get rechecked, just need to get a letter from the dudes that welded my stuff which I'll try and get tomorrow with the help of some beers.
  23. Give Nzefi a ring and see what they can do with the factory computer but as above, a Link would be better.
