  2. hey I have sucker type roof rack which is too big to fit on the viva but would fit on the trumpy fine. you keen?
  3. nah bo we still waitn for you. hurry up cunt
  4. Guy who had that AA63 Celica? Interesting it blew a head gasket.. you rebuilt that motor just months prior to selling it eh? Maybe he overboosted it too much. My engine hasn't been touched, 28yo head gasket etc and I ran 15psi through it a few times, made it detonate alot, overheated it when I removed the fan etc and it's still going strong so I'm quite surprised.
  5. Jap spec widebody are 2.6 same with US spec, but Euro spec wideys are 2.0L and 2.6L. Remember that white widebody which was on trademe for months on end at $16k? Was a UK import and was restored from the ground up and it was a 2L intercooled. I would say the clutch for the DASH engine is the same for the non DASH engine.
  6. And A163A = Sapporo/Eterna/Coupe thing like yours? Fairly certain that's what I recall reading on the firewall of the one at the local wreckers. A163A is 2L carb with live axle, mine is A164A = 2L turbo with IRS
  7. my understanding is A184A is widebody 2L, and A187A is widebody 2.6L, while A183A is flatbody 2L turbo and A182A is flatbody non turbo with live axle rear.
  8. that's GA60 series boe
  9. shush you
  10. you could bypass hamilton go through gordonton and meet at the south/east side of hamilton?
  11. Why on earth would we be going through Te Awamutu to get to Taupo? We'll be going through Cambridge Tirau Putaruru Tokoroa etc
  12. Simon's upped his price.. I've bought two whole sets of Toyo tyres off him in the past, and he wanted to charge me $72 to take the tyres off which he sold me, and put them onto another set of rims.. Not too happy with that.
  13. It's the intake valves DASH controls, and yeah it is a primitive form of variable valve control. It still had the really primitive throttle-body injection too. FST4RD says his only ran 8psi standard, while my GSR-X ran 13psi standard, maybe that's the difference between the 149kW and 170kW models?

    Central locking

hrmm that barrel sounds like it's aftermarket as that's what they usually look like. I know mitsi OEM ones are rectangular and look like RC servo motors. Most jap imports don't have the front passenger side as a master, the only cars I've seen which do that are NZ-new Mitsis. What car is it? Did it have central locking factory?
  15. Those Australians don't even know the difference between Sirius and Cyclone - they think they are two entirely different engine makers.. Sirius is the series of engine (4G6x) while Cyclone is a label which was liberally applied to many Mitsi motors, and the true Cyclone manifold was only on the E39A VR-4 which had 8 runners which butterflies - a copy of Toyotas TVIS really. All DASH engines were intercooled, not sure what turbo the RWD ones had but the FWD ones had TD05-12 turbos.
  16. No Aus spec Starion got the DASH motors at all.. they were jap spec only. Jap spec widebody got the 4G54 astron 2.6 but not the DASH engine.

    Central locking

yeah you need some sort of control box to control them. It's pretty much just a few relays. One will act as the master (drivers door, sometimes front passenger as well), and then all the rest are slaves. Master actuators have a motor (two wires), along with a two way switch to determine the position of the actuator (three wires, one being common). Most of them work by negative switching, so when you unlock the master door it grounds the common wire and the unlock wire and that will trigger the relay in the control box to unlock the slave actuators. You can buy a central locking kit from supercheap, jaycar etc for around $40 - I installed one in my Eterna and it was pretty easy to install. I don't know if anywhere has just the relay box seperately. Even if you buy the whole kit you'll have some spare for like boot locks, fuel catch lock if you wanna be flash haha.
  18. yeah get them to give a quote before they go ahead with work, or just straight up 'will you do this and this for this amount'? sometimes works for me
  19. dude DASH is SOHC also. I don't know 100% but the GSR-V from 1985 onwards is DASH powered, am pretty sure widebody never got DASH engine. There's a guy in ChCh who has a DASH GSR-V, is on forums as FST4RD. I had a DASH 3x2 in my '87 Sigma GSR-X, ran 13ish psi factory but that's pretty much all I knew of it, by the time it was long gone I found out what it was..
  20. yeah I'ld like to know too, I need to change my tyres from one set to another. Most places charge $15 a tyre these days which I think is on the high side. $10 a wheel balanced may well be worth it.
  21. At the very least you'll need a starion oil pump as it has an outlet for the turbo feed (at pressure). You'll then need to make a return line to come back to the sump.
  22. that's a steering idler arm.. not to be confused with a lower ball joint. Uhmm yeah they are meant to be quite stiff, but usually you can move them a little bit with your fingers if you put enough force on it. If you say they wont move at all when you put it in a vice and swing on it then it's seized...
  23. shit boe that thing is off teh scale! can't wait to see your magic being worked on it.
  24. Dude most third party insurance has other party accident cover for times like these. You need to name the driver though, for your insurance co to chase up. Do you know the name of the business? If so go pay them a visit.

    Pulling dents

if you're going to be bogging over them then drill a hole in the middle of the dent (or dents) and use a slide hammer to pull the dents out. You have pretty limited access with sills so unless you can get in behind the dent you wont be able to get the dent out 100%.
