I've got one with a bluetop that's probably a lot less fucked. It runs. Let me know if you want to buy it.

Adding weight to the front is a bullshit fix. Driving them properly is a better method. They are about 60/40 Front/Rear and you'll get used to it eventually. If you're using it on dirt a locker or LSD will make it much more controllable.

Clubsport events don't usually require a WOF but you'll probably need to get a motorsport NZ logbook (easy). Read schedule A on www.motorsport.org.nz for basic safety requirements. All you really need is a solid battery bracket, isolated positive terminal, good seat and belt (standard is fine), steering and brakes that work.

You sick bastard. I can help you with parts and motorsport info. Come at me with questions.

Classic Car Auction - Ohaupo - 7th November

That's a bargain! I think I saw you driving this on Friday afternoon? If so, I assumed this was already your car and that you were looking at getting parts from the others. PM me if you want a lead on some manual conversion parts (pedal box, master and slave, lines etc) as I have a friend in Napier who might be willing to part with those bits. -

I bought the red AW11 (auto + on hold). Picked it up today, threw a battery in it and it runs! Lots of smoke and sounds lazy, but it goes. Time to do a few autocrosses in it before pulling it to bits .- 118 replies

Classic Car Auction - Ohaupo - 7th November
Truenotch replied to Threeonthetree's topic in Upper North Island Region
What myk00l said, the SC AW has the motor half dropped / half installed. It looked like they had got half way to getting it out. Body was fairly tidy. Jlaing90 - that 124 is WELL worth buying. Good condition body and tidy engine bay. I'm now heading to Taupo tomorrow instead of the auction... Neal, if you read this, I'd like to put a small bid on the red AW if you're willing to help? I'm pretty sure it's lot #10 (red auto one). I'll PM you. -
Weird man.... I've not come across this before. A friend used to have 205/40/17's or similar on his BMW and they were great, so I doubt width is the issue. 215/45/15 doesn't seem like a large enough profile to have issues with sloppy sidewalls either, so that's also bamboozling. Just stick to R888's all the time?

That T1R business sounds pretty strange... How many K's have you done on them? It's common for tyre shops to warn you that the car will feel funny for the first 300km or so until the mould release wears off. That's all I can think of. The difference in profile can't have made that much difference.

Fuck yeah. No HP skids are still the best kind. Keep up the good work.

Nice work. I LOVE that colour on a bugeye. Always wanted the one that used to park around the corner from my parents' place. -

How about Rahn's VLYTNK? I've also got an FA50 and suitably old helmet that would slot in perfectly. -

Bandwagon spec Hamilton shed tours of Oldschool?
Truenotch replied to mjrstar's topic in Upper North Island Region
We talked about this again last night - it's time to get it locked down! So far we have these sheds confirmed: Truenotch Mrjstar Mark105 Matangi (shared garage) Miniman (need to double check) Midnight Upholstery Is anyone else keen to offer up their shed? J.e.d made mention of being keen, which could work if we start the tour at Te Kauwhata and work our way through to hamilton/Matangi/ohaupo and back to midnight for a BBQ at the end. -

Nope. This is Taupo Car Club dual sprints. -
Poly B and poly C work really well for me. I've been running C's lately because they're easier to get for my calipers in NZ.

Yip, that's very possible. When will you be back from your Yeti hunting crusade?

I think we've still got one car space that's free. What do you want to put in there? Yowzer used to have a crown in there, so most things will fit.

Truenotch's BEAMS AE86 racecar discussion
Truenotch replied to Truenotch's topic in Project Discussion
Class rules only let me have undertrays to the axle line, so no full underbody for me. It's fibreglass, so pretty much anything goes as long as it will work when we take a mould off it. -
Played with hot glue, core flute and fibreglass tonight: I was getting sick of the old rubber lip that's mounted to my other bumper and have been meaning to do this for ages. The lowest part is ~90mm from the ground (which is the same as the old bumper) but it's all one piece and will be much easier to add an undertray/splitter to. The idea is to get this tidy enough to take a mould off it and produce a couple of bumpers so I have spares. The only part that I'm unsure about is the brake ducts - normally they sit just above the lip rather than 50mm higher up. I could move them down, but that'll be a lot of work, so I'm going to stick with it as is for now. Any opinions? I'm quite keen for some feedback: Discussion

Shocks in, new wheel bearings and seals and a decent cleanup with a lick of red paint: The adjusters are accessible from the inside with either your fingers or a screwdriver: And back on its wheels for the first time in a while: I also added a fridge-house to my collection of benches:
