  1. Yeh it's certainly not cheap. The 13" longchamps I'm gonna get widened (welded 3 piece) is gonna be around $1800-2000. That's prices from Pine and 41 degrees. That's me doing nothing but sending the wheels to either company, they provide the new lips (3 and 3.5"), re-welded, polishing / machining, new bolts and possible centre caps etc etc.
  2. Arrow wheels in auckland might be worth a try?
  3. Yeh? I'd definitely be into borrowing that if you don't mind ... box of beers etc if you'd be keen.
  4. - no gang colours / patches to be worn or displayed
  5. time to add a few words then ... surely there's some extra rules or directions to add to that post!
  6. True true, keep an eye out. Funnily enough there were some Mk2's for sale on trademe. But I think I'd rather get one set done right, rather than keep accumulating wheels that all need a little bit of work. I've got the wheels it came with, I've got some Tridens, plus the XR4's. I think going 7" wide on the front and 8" on the back should look pretty decent
  7. Wow that looks awesome! Wheels/colour/lowness to perfection!
  8. Thanks! Was stoked to find them. The widening may take some time as that equals fairly serious $$$, from what I was quoted from Pine Engineering, but will see how much I can weasel away over the next few months.
  9. So had a little shopping spree while I was off work for two weeks. Got a LSD, thanks to Gnarlydude to bringing it up from Palmerston North to Hamilton! It's a 26 spline, but will look into getting some 24 spline side gears from Australia and getting them installed, then it'll be a bolt in upgrade. Saw the wheels on trademe and couldn't resist, not often you see these in 4x110! The wheels will eventually get widened to 7" and 8" i'm thinking, rear guards have a fair bit of space; hopefully being only 13" they wont look too funny or small on such a large car. Couldn't help to see what they look like
  10. Old quote, I did a search for seat belt stuff and this seems to be the most relevant to my question . So if my car is a 1977, if the back seat had seat belts (pretty sure I can see the mounting anchorages). Do I need them in for a WOF?
  11. Sweet, I'm gonna need some axles cut / re-splined soonish I think too. WIll be watching to see your results
  12. Good luck man! Who are you using for the diff / axel work?
  13. Nice escort man, tidy ones are hard to find!
  14. Spent a few hours sanding - polishing - painting this wheel. I've got a full set, and started sanding the rest of them now too, wanted to do one start to finish to see how the end result would be. Only could get sand paper up to 1000grit, so the polish isn't as good as what it could be, so for the other 3 wheels I'm gonna try get a few more finer grades. Not nearly as bad as what you began with Roman I did wonder why the heck i'm spending time on these wheels (only 5.5 wide) and I have no idea if I'll ever use them!
  15. Ok, so finally sorted all the front suspension / steering out. Had a mate help me out with changing the last two tie rod ends yesterday. If anyone is interested ; or doing the same in a 626 here's some part numbers that'l be handy; Ball Joint (lower arm to strut bottom) - BJ 149 Tie rod end (outer) - TE514L Tie rod end (inner) - TE568R Front suspension Bushes (complete kit) Lost the receipt that I got with the shocks though - but they were easy enough to source, Autostop prooved to be the cheapest for me. SPF0433K SPF2005K SPF1256K SPF2092BK SPF0628-24K Had to use 'onautos' on trademe who ships out of Australia in order to get the Inner tie rod ends and the complete front bush kit (other places would only do bits n pieces). Fresh WOF as of yesterday and now after all the hard work ... ready to sell . Don't have long term garage space for both the old cars so gotta sell this one.
  16. haha maybe! Mrs didnt like the kids being in the back with no seatbelts, & they had another 'weekend' car , too many toys etc. worked out fine for me!
  17. Cant drive the damn thing for another week or two, so won't be at the burger boes this month. Next month for sure though
  18. I would have got it off the person who bought it off that guy. The couple who I bought it off had owned it about 18 months. Each time it has been advertised it sits on trademe a while. Been down south I think stopped a lot of potential buyers, plus being a 929 wagon too haha.

  20. Will start a thread for this, although its not gonna be much of a build as such, more of a make a tweak here n there sort of thing; Aquired this about 2 months ago now, flew to Dunedin on a saturday morning to check it out and got back to Auckland on Sunday afternoon. 1600 odd km's in just over 24 hours. Not bad for an old girl. Shat the alternator on the way home - I blame the gilmer belt thingy being done up too buggery. With the help of Nick Ritchie outside his house in Palmy at 7am Sunday morning he donated a spare battery so I could at least get home. Sorted the alternator shortly after arrival in Auckland too, Got an internal regulated one now, had a auto sparky mate sort the three-to-two pin wiring change as fiddling with wiring scares me. Since these pics I've taken off the different colour plasti coat off the rear wheels, Taken off the work shop stickers front n rear fitted my P/Plate (hasn't been on a car since 2008 lol). sorted a front valance (off being tidied up currently) Plans are: looking at wheel options, find / purchase the sill chrome pieces for the front guards, a few suspension mods just to get the front a bit lower. Although the front crossmember already sits just under 100mm so it wont be going too much lower than this sadly. Rx4/929's must have big guards or something but oh well. Long term plans are; long term trouble free motoring Diff upgrade IDA or some sort of interesting looking side draft set up. Engine Rebuild at some stage surely haha.
