  1. china 125 so you have a clutch with left hand plz you'll get used to foot brake pretty quick/use it bugger all anyway prolly. i need another scoot. i'll be the beaner on a vespa again someday
  2. mate in reality they're pretty shit. vague steering, rough riding, noisy, leaky, slow, cold, uncomfortable, high maintenance (drum brakes all round, wat). you shoudn't buy one. tbh I don't like when people put landcruiser/patrol diffs and other whizz bang shit in them. I like them pretty stock. holden motor is a good conversion - much more grunt and way less gas used - but if i wanted to make one too flash I'd buy a deefer or something else entirely. 50mph fast cruise gets old pretty quick. i drove it all the way to work this afternoon at 60-65mph and holy shit. shitty brakes are shitty. I wouldn't give mine up though. they're bloody awesome. I cheese at taking people places in it (use it at work one day a week and ferry people around in it a bit) and effortlessly clicking through crash 1st and second. driving with the vent flaps open and the windows slid open on a cold day.loading a shit-tonne of people in the back and cruising somewhere. mine's a legal 9 seater. hilarious! but yeah. get a resonable bush crasher and have some fun. if your jag was too much for you, i doubt you'll love a landrover. They're simple as but they're a different kind of rewarding to most vehicles. yeah man i reckon I can get a queen matress in there eh. gotta make up a ply baord for the middle then will be doing some camping in it over summer!! yeah two. I doubt i'll ever drive the series one. it' just so rooted. they're neat though you should buy one. so cool! would love a 3door discovery one or an early defender with those! I love landys, esp series, with cookie cutters though. mine are 750r16. ~32" diameter. 7.5" wide ona 5.5" (widest factory series rims except for 101" FC's) rim. tall and skinny! most jokers running 32s or 33s in nz run a 12.5" wide tyre which is massive in comparison.
  3. oh jesus. What've I done? Blake hooked me up with the dealz on this. 1953 series one 80". 80s are apparently super SUPER rare now, and this one's an ex army one which is pretty cool. His mate Dazza's old man has had this in his backyard for about 20 years. last wof was 1995/96? anyways, sorted a deal and collected it tonight. left a trailer of rust from wanganui (literally, this thing is rainin' rust from teh chassis) everything's fucked. engine is a 186 holden that'd had a full rebuild and covered about 6000miles on CNG before parked. Run a few times since then but whatevz Pretty much that's all I want from it. Will do a few bits and pieces on it then slot it into the 109 when I get to the end of the clutch in that thing's life (slips a little now and then now so will prolly be toward winter next year) has widened steels and super lush (albeit perished a little) 750-16 crossply wranglers. must've been some super rowdy tyres back in the day. hilarious!
  4. heck yes. I could spend days just hooning around the various roads around there! just flicked an email through to wendy from the apiti pub. i was super impressed with those guys yesterday. I told them a group of about ten and they said even though they had that function going on that they'd look after us. i was skeptical, let alone when a whole lot more of you lads turned up than I expected but I reckon they did really well. A++ would trade again.
  5. heh, weirdly enough it was pretty much only a trot for the 205, with a few spots of minerals here and there too. It's not fast on a track by any means but give it a bit of road like that and it's amazingly casual to drive quickly. I've been thinking of flicking that thing but when you drive it on a road like that it reminds me why I have it in the shed. I think I used about $15 of gas for the whole day too. such economy. Love that loop road. There's an extension you can do (instead of turning left at the Tee to come into apiti, turn right) which links through to Rangiwahia. Can go through to Mangaweka or back down to Kimbolton. Another great set of roads. We did that loop with the french forum a few years ago mid winter. I didn't have a french mobile so took my old man's 1000cc mini and was working seriously hard to keep the pack at a fun pace (I was leading). We were driving amongst snow lined roads and all. So awesome! Glad all you jokers enjoyed. I'm not good at organising stuff, and I don't always catch up with everyone that comes along but I really love showing people around the backroads of my home region. There's some damn good roads, beautiful scenery and great 'left to rot' sights to be seen on plenty of backroads. I'll start planning the next one now
  6. as low to the ground as that thing is on an umfamiliar and rough in places road as that one is I'd be anything but rapid along it!
  7. New WOF on Friday our closest thing to a jim carrey lookalike to pilot her to a safe resting place for the rest of the day
  8. This was bloody grouse you jokers. Cheers for coming along! especially those from Welly. KK and Sherie, Niki and CDL, Paul and his mate whom I can't recall the name of. Awesome! Not pictured is waggy's chuvit that had a rock through the windscreen within a few km from the start, and peedubz whom was already at the pub when we got there (shot down through rangiwahia to meet us on his way down from Auckland this morning) next one I'll try have a bit more of a fun aspect. chur!
  9. dayum also, I contacted teh apiti pub and it looks like they have a function on sunday? whoops. edit: they're keen for us in apiti so bugger it, we'll go there for a beer and a sharn
  10. chur! heh, I forgot about letting apiti pub know until just now. should be good, don't expect too much see youse fullaz on sundee you thinking the commy, chris, or full french forum spec it with the xantipants?

Come mingle at the start. We're all shy. We're all not hugely outgoing I'm sure, but we all don't bite and we all love cars so there's something in common for everyone. https://www.google.co.nz/maps/place/44+Cambridge+Ave,+Ashhurst+4810/@-40.2946584,175.7515998,17z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x6d41b74255e5e4f1:0xdb1ecc05871d86d9 We'll stop for lunch at a country pub/cafe type place along the way. bring ya o/s car. bring ya daily. bring ya work ute. whatever. everyone welcome.
