Any tips on what kind of motor felt to use Greg? I've been tempted to use house underlay, (because cheap/free) but it's not really anything like the right stuff to use.

I got the 80mil. (Its only a single cab ute) it looks quite thick too. Easily as thick as the non foil backed stuff originally used by datsun/if not more so.

Before I pulled the trigger on any parts from 'murica, I'd be asking for feedback at www.forabodiesonly.com. The knowledge and expertise there is on point. It's like the oldschool hive mind, except relating to mopars. Someone there will know which panels are the best fit, and who to buy them off.

And a pic of my four port manifold, just for the thread. Note the injectors are centralized. So you wouldnt get that scummy build up on the valve for the port with the butterfly which doesn't see any fuel in an eight port motor

All the non nzdm/euroDM CA18's had like the Tvis shizz going on. But there was also the very earliest DOHC CA18, which had the different intake. (Is that what you're talking about?) I've got one of those motors in the shed actually. (Sans the unique manifold sadly) I've got a 4 port head too. Also fairly sure I've got a spare (standard later style) 8 port manifold for measuring purposes too.

I'll have a measure when I get home.
