I'm pretty sure the offset from the bearing journal to the wheel flange is longer on the coon.

I presume hes putting a cut on the outside of the wheel flange while holding the axle by the bearing journal. Hes turning both the wheel flange, and the bearing journal down to Valiant size from AU coon size

I'm not actually sure how many passes. I'll have to ask. (Going round there for breakfast this sunday)

Pic for thread. Here's a shot of @furyimp cutter. The tips which came with it were up to fuck all/ too soft. (Chinesium) Replacement ones which were much better were sourced (also from China) at a tiny fraction of what they would have.cost locally.
  5. I have to attend three meets before I'll remember someone's name. Veteran spambots are a bit different. I've long known your username and real name, but not your face. Had a smile when you popped up in my Facebook feed. Blairdy internet friends.
  6. Nice to finally meet you irl too Tori. I swear on the ferry the motion of the boat while trying to sleep felt like I was riding a scooter on gravel again.
  7. On a sad note though, It appears my most prized possession and I parted company somewhere between the Motu and J-5's. Only noticed last night unloading Ronnie the Dio at Bluebridge. Need more Bort license plates to the gift shop please. Sadface.jpeg. :'-(
  8. Departing the ferry this morning, I was on the upper deck with all the trucks. A driver asked me how far I was going. Told him my car was in Blenheim so not far. Then told where we've been. Another truck driver (portly Maori gentleman) overheard. And proclaimed loudly WHAT! ON THAT THING?!!! Yeah mate.
  9. Nearly at picton. The final (and lamest) leg of my journey is about to begin.
  10. I made it to the ferry. Just about to go mighty night in my cabin. But before I do, i wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who was a part of this magnificent event. Extra special thanks must go to John and Amy for opening up their home to a bunch of weirdos off the internet. Mark @Thphantum for feeding me better than I eat at home, and feeding me generous lashings of bourbon at gizzy. And Ben for driving me 1100+kms in his van so I could be a part of it. A+ would trade again!
  11. My Helmet dilemma has been solved. Thanks to everyone who offered to help.
  12. FUCK FUCK FUCK I forgot my helmet!!! Anyone got a spare they can bring? Or any shops en route where I can buy a new FFM? (They're only like $100 back home)
  13. I leave in just over 24hrs. I still need to do a wheel bearing on my trailer yet.
  14. Assuming 2degrees has reception at the J-5 ranch, can someone put this on my phone the night before/before we leave please? I'm sure to get lost, and am a cabbage with technology
  15. Lucky I'm not rooming with Clint. Oh, wait....... Lolololol
  16. I was yarning to a fella I.met at the first pub stop yesterday. Hed spent time up where were going. And knew the area. He asked me to show him my bike. As we were walking to it he said, any bike that can tackle the Motu must be a beast. Ha! Behold my twist and go of destiny on road tyres!
  17. I think I can make that. Last year I did Te Araroa to Opotiki on one whole tank, plus my 2ltr fuel can. Might have saved a bit of gas drafting behind @Geophy though. Perhaps slam a 20ltr in a back up vehicle as extra insuarance? I know some guys bikes have fuel tanks like a pregnant woman's bladder........
  18. Is that the one at Matawai, or the other one at the beginning (heading back toward Opotiki) That lady at Matawai didnt have enough meat thawed for the toasties. Luckily @Thphantum (aka Gordan Ramsey) cranked up the BBQ while the trailer was repaired using a chainsaw and a couple.of tiedowns.
  19. Hey J-5, Is someone going to tell the tiniroto pub that 30+ thirsty, dusty misfits will be stopping by for an ale? Maybe thaw a few extra maggot packs/etc. Such folk are always pleased to get a bit of warning. One time the NZDatsun crowd cleaned out every last bourbon RTD at a pub stop. (The publican pleaded with me to tell her we were coming next time)
  20. You wont see any gravel heroics from me. Twist n go on road tyres a dirt bike is not.
