  1. I still reckon you need to build a drawtrhough turbo set up for it!
  2. http://www.pegasusbaydrags.co.nz/ It's been updated now. My car needs shitloads of work too. I might just patch it up, and got it tech inspected. The trailer it to the track. I'm kinda over paying though the nose to keep a car I almost never drive road legal.
  3. DUDE! I need a pair of datsun 1600 doors taking up to nelson.
  4. Looking shap there Clint! I ache to do something similar myself. I have an engine and A pair of "J" heads, but its project for much later on down the track. What CR are you going to run, and what kind of fueling? If you want to spend lots of coin, The powerjection III set up ( http://www.professional-products.com/EFI_3.php ) would be the shit. But if your budget is anything like mine, a holley carb will get the job done.
  5. I may well be wrong Rob, it was just a random thought that sprang into my head. Another thing that also just sprang into my head is that you'd have smaller bearing area too.
  6. I'm no expert Rob. (Depsite what I might say when I've got a belly full of diesels ) But with lots of side clearance, might that not allow the oil to leave the big end bearing too quicky? Would not the side clearance with the standard A series set up slow down the oil's exit from the bearing? just a thought.
  7. And the shortblock was free, so it's double happy!
  8. there's nothing stopping anyonre from fitting a small fan to their oil cooler. @Zep, yeah, with out a T/static oil cooler set up, your oil could theoretically be stone cold while your giving your engine beans. Especially with our bitter winters. When I eventually roll an O/C, I'm gonna roll a t/stat one for sures. You don't wnat oil scoured bearings.
  9. just to add to this thread, I busted out the very-near calipers today, and had a measure up. Aaaaaaand, it was 86mm. So yay! I got what I paid for. Just gotta slap it on the RB30 I scored for free and do skids now. Oh, ftr, The casting numbers on it are; 08U 6
  10. Thanks mate! Thats what I needed to know.
  11. Does anyone know what the casting numbers are on an RB25 head from an R32? I bought one off tardeme for an RB30 I'm going to slap together at some stage, but I wanna make sure what I have been sold an rb25 head, and not a shitty old RB20 head.
  12. You wouldn't want to jump it off your lights. They run smaller wire than the likes of wall sockets. I'll PM you a sparky mate of mines number. I'm pretty sure he does chashies.
  13. Wow, a discussion thread! I thought it mustn't have been OS enough for the the boes on here. In a word, slow. The old boy has been pulling things like the power windows apart, and giving them a tickle up so they work all G. (After all, that shit is 42 years young) He's made up gaskets for the end caps for the rear quards, and has been going through the mountain of parts looking for bits and bobs. Even after being painted, there is still the odd bit of sand coming out of the body from when it was sand blasted. I think the biggest hurdle (as with any newly Painted car) is that many of the factory plated parts are now not as nice as the rest of the body. Not being one to do things half arsed, I'd say there's gonna be a fair bit of coin invested in having stuff replated.
  14. What are the legalities regarding deleting power steering? Can I just remove all the hoses and pump etc, and run a loop of hose betwen the two ports on the power rack?
  15. Here are a few happy snaps of one of the cars my old boy is building atm. He's been putting the mad hours into it lately, and yesterday morning he dragged me out of bed at 8am to help him load it onto the trailer to take it down to a spray booth/bake over to get the final coat applied. Loaded up on the trailer; And after the paint went on; It's being picked up today. It's a real shame that the sun isn't out. In bright sunlight, the pearl really jumps out at you. So very soon the reassembly will begin. He as already fully rebuilt the chrysler 383 for it. Overbored, balanced, and a wee bit of a cam. As well as a no longer availble edelbrock fourbarrel manifold. (it was a factory 4bbl car, but these manifolds are much better. Should get along quite nicely one would think.
  16. are you sure chris? I though trumpets were 4"X4?
  17. Yeah, it runs a wire to an ignition triggered relay that also supplies my fuel pump too. I could fit a switch, but The throttle response is a bit weaker when the blower isn't engaged. So I just boost all the time.
  18. LPG offers many advantages for both blowthrough and drawthrough. The disadvantage is the weight/cost though. I'd LOVE to build a blowthrough turbo LPG set up. And run a water to air intercooler using the LPG converter as a souce of cool to keep charge temps down. You'd be able to get intake temps around 5*C@boost. And acheive the mad charge density. You could fit it in in your anglia, just cut a dirty great hole in the bonnet. Thats what I did!
  19. A mate of oine knows a bloke who does cheap blasting. I'll get his number when I pick up my J heads from his house.
  20. He's 160JSSS at nzdatsun.com. (you guys are neighbours aren't you?) It's a pretty leasurely sort of cruise. Unless your clutch is completely gone, you should be alright. At least make plans to come along on the hanmer cruise. I don't see you on NZdatsun much lately. Or you just had nothing to say?
  21. well done Gaz! Are you and Glynn coming on the queens b/day mini cruise next sunday?
  22. we should try and do a similar thing another time. Only, not for charity, and during the summer! I don't envy you fullas! The weather is grim at best.
  23. I see. I could well imagine a bunch of homos doing it with bikes that have all their fearings on, and scooters that where built this century. Where's the fun in that?
