  1. surely there must be some takers here? I'm actually tempted to take out my slow as fuck PB310. The Mrs has said NO! Which makes me want to do it even more. If we clog the track up with slow old school cars, I wont feel so shit about being the slowest car there. Anyone else up for it? leppa? CUL8er?
  2. Just run the factory ecu. Nistune enables you to remap them yourself.
  3. Also I reckon the 308 is one of the worst sounding v8's there is. I can pick the sound without even seeing it's a holden. They're all flap, flap flappy, and uneven sounding if you ask me.
  4. RBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRB! But seriously, for your ecu needs, just buy a nistune tool http://www.nistune.com/ and get yourself an inovate wideband with usb cable for data logging. Then download the software, and teach yourself how to tune. It'll cost you less than the price of a G4. And you'll be able to get your tune within kuwee before you hire a dyno for a day. The nistune tool allows you to reconfigure your factory ecu to take larger injectors, bigger afm, etc ect. The three-0-late isn't somehwere I'd go. you could build a decent 350 far cheaper. (As already said)
  5. omg! I was out getting some breakfast this morning, and I saw this cars doppleganger! After having not seen a trumpet 'goon in living memory, (About 6 mins on a good day) I saw one in equivelent condition, only with an uber meke os roof rack on it. I was soo busy staring at it in disbelief that I almost crashed into it. If only I'd had a camera handy.........
  6. Use your eyes, and look for rust stains. Check the frost plugs. Look for signs of weeping around the water pump, and all heater/raditor hoses. Stick a dishwasher tablet (Finish powerball ftw!) in the rad, and go for a good long drive. (Keep in third gear to hold the revs up so the waterpump really gets the water circulating) Then drain the cooling system, and flush the shit out it with fresh water. Replace thermostat, and refill with new coolant. (ie antifreeze) Then once in a while check the coolant level in the radiator. (With the motor cold!) Thats about all you can do. If you have crappy looking hoses, or weeping frost plugs, or water pump replace them. true story.
  7. Yeah, that sounds Fair enough to me KK. I really hope you can wrangle the same dealio (or better) this time. The ferry crossing is what rapes the wallet on a NI trip. If there was a bridge, or tunnel (although after having earthquakes, fuck an under sea tunel and the horse it rode in on) it'd be so very affordable to hop accross the straight whenver the mood takes.
  8. eastgate is worse. The mrs car was treid to be stolen from there. Dual immobiliser ftw!
  9. KK, can you please find out the exact costs for us? Then bubblejew can post his account number, and we can work out the cost per head. With the chch family doing a total cost devided by the number of heads, we'll still be accepting donations toward our ferry cost. (Andy will be giving hand shandys to people who contribute) This should be an epic event. And I'm not driving, I'll have no reason to be sober the whole trip! The ferry crossing was hell on earth last year. Trapped in the bar, but still having to drive.
  10. Hey josh, tell you mate to sign up at NZdatsun. We're having a cruise this Sat, so he should pitch up and come along.
  11. I just copied and pasted this thread at NZdatsun. People there can spot a datsun at 200m.
  12. Whats the dealio with the jet extensions? I've never come accross those before.
  13. Nice link Clint. All the same stuff is in a holley book I have. Holley's are nice and simple. But fuck me they love to leak. What size did you finish up drilling your power valve restriction orifaces to? Also what Vac power valve do you run?
  14. LMFAO! they do have a keen eye. hahahahahahahahaha
  15. Thats a pretty sexy BMX too!
  16. Can I ask what cruise? I dropped [i500GT] at the fox and feret last night, and there were "car entusiasts" running about everywhere.
  17. Notice the oil spot under the morry? lol Just wait til Karl posts the pics he took of beaver posing with his new ride, and the rest of us molesting the wagon.
  18. That misses out the best bit. Gebbies pass to summit road is the best drive. But whatever really. I was thinking on the way back from a Kaik's inland cruise that I've never been to Motunau Beach. Bit sad considering I've lived in here my whole life. Apparently theres fuck all there. I heard the morris monir club did a run there, and the local cop rolled them for driving too slow and holding up traffic. I'm up for whatever really.
  19. Bummer dude. Still much better to find out now rather that after a castrphic failure.
  20. Might pay to flick us a txt.
  21. How far do you wanna go? I still love going right at the wheatsheaf, then right again by the top of gebbies pass and up to the sign of the kiwi. That's one of my fav roads. (After the Kaikoura inland route, and the Akaroa summit road) Although my current ride wont be as exciting to drive.
  22. If any of your kearns wanna come have a beer with beaver and I tommorrow night, meet at the speights ale house tower junction at 6pm. Just ba few quiets, and a few yarns. And ya'll can pine over the new goon.
  23. Shit you're showing your age now mate! Thats how people used to talk back when I was a hairy arsed school boy!

    Locked Dizzy

Maybe it's done to help light the fire when starting? POrted motors would have fuck all cranking vaccuum. (IDK though, Rotors aren't my feild of expertise. Surely if shitloads of early advance is a good thing, you'd just get the dizzy recurved. Although perhaps rotang guys don't have the money for that. I run a locked dizzy on the datsun for the same reason. In a perfect world, you'd use a locked dizzy on a dyno with a dial back timing light. Then you'd test how much advance the engine could stand at 200rpm increments. Note down what those figures are, then have the dizzy regraphed to the same curve. Lots of coin though.
  25. Orton bradly is before Dimond harbour. Over the hill goes governers bay, allandale, Teddington, the charteris bay. (I could have missed a few suburbs, I'm usually going to fast to read the signs.
