  1. Converting to rack not an option. I really dont like messing around with steering stuff. I also didnt want to take on another enless project as i have enough on my plate already. At this stage ill just keep trying to sort a solution to the starter issue. What other good gearboxes are there with removable bellhousings that are cheap and reasonable plentifull besides W and G series.
  2. Nothing is ever easy! I have come accross a problem with the starter position. As you can see from the picture the start motor bolts up under the block just the the left hand side. This is excatly where the steering arms go. If the Lancer had a steering rack it would be much easier but it doesnt. Another option is have is finding a gearbox that has the starter going parellel to the gearbox, such as an RX7. So now im on the hunt for a series 1 style RX7 box. Was hoping to keep it all Mitsubishi.
  3. Just had the exhaust done on my Gemini. 2 1/2 inch mandrel bent system. Has a 14" bullet style muffler at the front (the biggest i could comfortable fit in the cutout under the drivers seat) and a large flat oval triple pass muffler on the rear. Only problem is the rear cutout isn't very tall and i can see most of the muffler from the rear. Doesn't look right. Im most likely going to cut the floor and raise it up to get the muffler sitting right. Im hoping it wont sound too loud. Thinking back i probably should of done it in 2" instead of 2 1/2.
  4. Currently looking for another EX lancer. Prefer rolling body or even just a shell. Want to use it for engine moch up. Seeing as my Lancer is a driver i dont want to pull yet another car off the road to try fit an engine that may not fit. If anyone has a donor car let me know. Auckland/ Waikato area please
  5. My problem is exactly what you said. Im too busy doing shit for other people. Means i have to pay people to do work on my cars and i do what i can when i can. The gemini will get finished. Very little to do now to get it running. Fuel system. Bit more electrical. Relocate brake lines. Radiator pipes, radiator and elect fan. Connect accerator cable. Do skids
  6. My 1970 Mazda 1500 has the same stud pattern.
  7. Take a mould off them and ill give you $400, a bag of twisties and superman pencil sharpener for them. I have a pair of NOS doors but any other new parts i can find the better.
  8. Way to many of these things have been dumped/ crushed/ split for parts or left to rust. Getting so hard to find parts now. Im on the hunt for a mint pair of headlight surrunds. If anyone has some spare. Your 121 looks awsum. Good too see other peopke appreciate them.
  9. New headers fabricated. 6 into 1.
  10. I understand you do not want an RB but does anyone know what the problem is with RB's ? I dont know alot about them except theres heaps of them around. Would of thought they were a good reliable engine.
  11. An RB25DE with auto trans would be lush. Cheap and plentifull. easy 180hp or even a RB30 SOHC as i think some early ones where carburettored.
  12. Discuss > viewtopic.php?f=18&t=35225&p=887518#p887518 Been wanting to do a RWD Mitsi V6 conversion for a few years now so here it is. 1983 Lancer sedan. Genuine 2 owner car with 111000 ks on the clock. 1200cc 4 speed manual 4G11 At this stage i plan on fitting a 6A10 Engine and L200 5 speed. Will run factory 6A10 loom and ECU Engine will be adapted to gearbox via a steel plate. Engine to gearbox adaption is well underway, however there are a couple of small issues i am having with starter location, will post pictures as i progress. If it all gets to hard i may fit a 6G73 engine i already have. Really want to 6A10 in there tho. Pics from tardme
  13. Yes i believe it is. Decided this weekend i wont be using any part of the navara chassis as theres a bit too much surface rust on it. If im doing this project i want good parts. Whats your thoughts clint ? Was going to ring you but thought it would be better to ducument ideas etc on here.
  14. From what ive read and been told theres a bit more involved than just changine the body mounts. But yeah i will remove the terrano body and cmpare chassis befor i make and decisions. I have also read the td27 runs factory 6lbs boost. I really need to get my own boost guage on there to check. The old chassis will most likely go to scrap. Will hit you up when im ready to get rid of it.
  15. Im trying to pick a nice wheel for it. Want to fit at least a 20" rim. Looking at these at the moment. There called a DEMODA DF2 Need some wheels soon as this will help determin the height.
  16. I have already removed the Navara cab and tray and destroyed it. On the back of my truck destined for the scrap man. I will sell the Y44 if i do not end up using it on this project. Its the later model injected version.
  17. After seeing Clints dropped Terrano i decided i wanted one. Clints one here > http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/5564/6711043.jpg Last month i purchased a 1990 terrano and a 1989 Navara. The Terrano is in very tidy condition with the last owner having it for 14 years. Its currently 4WD auto powered by a TD27 turbo engine that starts and runs sweet. Plans are to drop the Terrano body onto the Navara chassis or cut and splice the 2 chassis together, Have gathered a bit of information off Clint (cletus) but not entirly sure how i will go about it all just yet. The end result at this stage is i want a lowered Terrano rolling on 20-22 inch rims. I want to use the TD27 T engine and keep it auto. Have just picked up a Nissan Caravan RWD auto trans that ill be installing. Will wind up the boost to 10lbs and fit an intercooler. Im after a cool looking sensible wagon for my family to cruze around in that will replace our 2008 SSV Commodore. Another option is i fit the Y44 Nissan V8 i have with after market injection. Not looking for big power, just a nice cruzer. My terrano at present (no springs as im playing around with hights) and donour Navara.

    cracked pistons

Today i removed the cylinder head off my Toyota Dyna as i am replacing it due to broken exhaust studs. After i got it off i noticed that 3 of the 4 pistons have cracks in the tops. Being a diesel the pistons have large dishes in them similar to the photo ive attached. 2 of the pistons have cracks about 1 cm long and 1mm wide. The other crack is approx 15mm long and 2mm wide. Prior to the head removal the engine ran sweet, it smoked a bit under load going up a hill but other than that it ran pretty well for a truck with 530ks on the clock. My concern is should i be worried about the cracked pistons ? Is this normal for a diesel ? Engine is a 14B non turbo 4 cyl diesel.
  19. Looking good. Lots of inspiration for me looking at this build as i have a 39' Royal Enfield frame with a pre unit box and Diahatsu Max engine sitting it in. Off to google Lloyd now..... Interesting motor.
  20. I used one of these to build my old bobber. Worked great. Just got to make sure you use the correct dies for your tube size. No crushing at all on any of the bends.
  21. Hard tail that bitch and not by replacing the sprongs with steel rods.
  22. Will leave the rest of the car completely standard. Factory rostyles and all. Just building it to cruze. I like the sound of the blower. They sound so lovely.
  23. Im running a 500 CFM 4 barrel Edelbrock. Its been jetted to run on the 4.3 liter in NA form. Should run fine ontop of the blower.
  24. Been working on getting the engine ready. Had to cut the sump down and modify the pick up to suit. Blower back from polishers now, just needs new bearings/seals/clearancing and reassemble. Running a 40 tooth bottom pulley 3.5" wide and 41 tooth top pulley. Using the newer 8mm pitch belt/pulleys. Not far away from dropping it in the engine bay.
