  1. I did my time with Holden I am bias. But I really do think these coils are good.

x1 coil per plug is pritty sweet.

LS1 coils are shit hot and  to be honest not that much more work than running 1 coil.

    and inbuilt ignitor.

There's an offset in the ECU, and you set it up with a timing light.

You dont need to have the angle exactly right.

right. Thanks for that. It just sounds so logical to do it with a timing light.

I was running a pretty safe 40 advance on V6.

If it were me I'd remove your dizzy and run a coil pack. You're so close, but not quite there, to having a really efficient setup. I Dont think anyone will cry if they lift your bonnet and cant see an ugly dizzy sitting there. You can always put it all back to factory if you needed.

I'm guessing you need something in the hole to drive the oil pump though? Or does the dizzy drive off the oil pump? I know nothing about these engines.

Hey Alex. Hope your well mate. Could you help me with a question? Iv always wondered with crank triggers how do you dial the crank reluctor and sensor in spot on? To run a coil pack set up or injectors for that matter.

I understand the concept but lets assume that nothing in the world is perfect and you engineer a bracket that makes the sensor sit 1/2 a degree out from TDC.

To get things dead on is there a calabration or a offset in the software to correct this ?

    Hope that makes sense.

    cheers Scott.

You done any work on your stuff? Good score ob the wheels by the way.

Lol...  iv still got the 2 dubs. These street fins might just be enough to start me off proper again.

the 1302 just had a new set of heads put on. I'v been "monitoring" the cracks but turns out the cracks were so bad

it would be just outright embarrassing to post pics to OS.

the other is is just ticking over daily driver.

I might roll one down to hanmer this winter.

@scooters im pretty sure it was you that even posted a pic of a beetle that from memory was black, boned and badass.

And I commented that it was on street fins.

    Lol.

I have no idea what thread tho.

Hey my good man. How are ya? I'v been MIA for month or 2. Have you still got the bay window?

Iv been digging deep all I can find is this.

When I bought my Streets from Hayashi they offered a custom pcd for 2000 yen per rim, I would assume they've always offered this

$25 kiwi to have a PCD of your choice is a dream.... the other odd thing is it's like a 83mm central hole... which is ideal for dubs with the big nut and split pin holding the preload on the bearing.

They are so cool you need to buy a car that fits them now

they did blanks are they flat on the backside of the mounting face ?

please find me a set in 4x100

oh man 4x100 is a dream easy to find.

I'v just saved myself a hub swap and paid a little bit more to have these odd ball's

i'll go take a photo of the back..soon for ya.

  8. kia ora whanau.

I just wanted to ask if anyone has any idea if these rims are overly rare at all ?

they are 4x130 stud ( porsche 914, late model VW) fit.

I scooped them as iv never seen them before and I have vw's sitting in the shed doing nothing.

I'v been to Hyashi's site but found nothing that sticks out of being useful.

Any guess's as to how old ? 70's 80's? No idea.

Why did Japan make wheels for German Cars...

Any info you can give id be all ears.

    cheers

    Scott.

Are you adding air with the idle air bleed screw or by using the idle control valve?  I'm asking because I only use my idle control valve, a PWM unit, to control the warm up circuit. After its warmed up I have set my idle using just the fuel table and spark settings. I'm idling around 13 13.5 and pretty smooth at that, but I get that not so nice rich smell about the car.  If I go much leaner, say to 13.5 - 14,  then it starts hunting and going a little rough.

And how much timing are you pulling?  My engine is somewhere around 15 degrees at idle so there is room to pull some and still be close to what I think would be a 'factory' type idle tune?

Edit; I must add that I'll never achieve a factory perfect idle, at low rpm, with an inherently unbalanced V6 running a super light flywheel. But its fun to try...

hows injector dead time ? was that set up with air fuels ? I can dig you up some how too stuff if your into it..

@fletch that would be great thanks, I'll see if I can fix my one and let you know.

@scooters that's what worries me, all this fandangled EFI is new ground for me.

You'l go ok mate. just go careful. There is nothing that is not online with calisturbo. PM me if you get stuck... VL was a lovely period of Fuel injection.

  11. be careful when your rooting around with regs. I'v been caught out before with boost referenced regs that are not your standard 1:1 rising rate.

It stuffs everything up so bad and it takes a age to work out how things got so messed up. Fuel table with impossible non linear lines.
