check fan belt tension too... i had a car that would make this light come on when the belt was loose..

coolant level... fill ya overflow bottle or header tank one below it i think is the oil temp......or exhaust temp which means the engine is hot not the water.. but thats just my understanding of them...i pay no attention to them anyway...

if it were me id hit it with a hammer first then check it out... worked on heaps of alts that buggered out, and starters... but thats just me sounds like an earthing issue to me though...
