  1. a mate is looking at getting a 92 surf, 2l and 5 speed... he took it for a drive and said it kind of vibrated slightly in 4th and 5th.. what do you guys reckon it could be?? driveshaft UJ??? i know its hard to say without actually seeing it..
  2. my old 1600 had MA on it..was very confuzzling...definately was a 1600 too..
  3. yum...^ wow,8 years? i remember you were building this when i was building a mk2 2dr pinturbs esky... atleast you finished yours...turned out great...
  4. well done on wof....such a cool looking suby
  5. looks like a good buy seeing as the pulley is allready set up for ya... be a cheaper option to blow a couple of hundy on getting that to work... you might even be pleasantly surprised with it... go for it man
  6. i didnt know we had these over here.. the US stadium trucks are insane to watch... are there many expensive tricks bits on these or are they all fairly simple? looks like a blast except maybe the bone shattering nose landings
  7. we had a capella wagon as a company car with a gold top fe3.imho i thought it was a gutless piece of pooh. but that kia option looks good, if you dont mind spending coin on auto sparkys to get the wiring/ecu sorted, and efi pump/surge tank..
  8. yes, but the pinto is alot narrower up top to any dohc motor..so easier to install without fouling on clutch/brake parts just weigh up what you want. cheap motor rwd box usable power reliability easy to fit budget thatll chop a fair few options out.. make a list of possible engines that will work, and decide which one best suits you. id go for something that will fit without too much cutting and prefer to be same manufacturer... thats why i suggested the mx5 1600 or 1800 motor
  9. theres a guy down here with one of these as a rally car.. best 4wd turbo celica model that they made
  10. nope..the motor in you ute if its a 2l is the same as an old rwd 626.. pinto(nicknamed) as in the mighty cortina/sierra/escort beasty
  11. cant believe no one has mentioned the all mighty PINTO would be a piss easy install too
  12. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 157065.htm WOW!!!
  13. your first conversion? id probably suggest to stick to something small so no firewall/tunnel mods are needed.. so mx5/fe3/4age/sr/e15t lol... what about a zetec?? plus nice turbo....
  14. because theyr a waste of time.... ive been there, done that, brought the t shirt, got the photo...just like 1000s of others.. 4cyl screamer would be cool in an old ute...
  15. mercs have a damper type shock for the fanbelt tensioner(i think it is anyway..) i have one here that has merc stamped on it...pretty sure it was a belt tensioner...
  16. early b1600/2000s like this one can use a s1 rx7 type bellhousing,so do the vans (and 626s from memory) the next model b series uses the s4 style bellhousing so do the mx5's and i think the luce/929s aswell..
  17. also note thats a US spec left hook beast, so you will have throttle bodies in the way of any brake booster..
  18. seriously go the mx5 route.. its still a mazda, rwd spec, efi, and dohc...not overly powerful in stock form but can be boosted. easy as to mount in there..the box is the same size pretty much.. may even get away with using the stock driveshaft if the yoke is the same spline. and you can get them cheap enough...
  19. isnt trcation where the brace your head from your spine etc and sort of pull them away from each other to let the vertabrae heal?? hope he gets better soon....stink news man... and chin up with the car...
  20. diesel rad, theyr a 3 core...most are anyway, just had the top outlet swapped over from left to right...
  21. my van had one in the thermostat housing. wires run down the face of the front cover and linked up with the main loom..didnt notice any wiring. fans kicked in and cut out fine...not sure what the thermostatic switch was from though... im not a fan of constant running fans..in winter it is a bad idea cos the water in the radiator doesnt get hot enough to open the thermostat,so once the engine water is hot it opens then it gets a hit of cold water and closes again, and continually does it.. also you have a higher chance of the coolant freezing, i know this from experience..my rotor van had a constant fan,and the radiator froze over while idling for a bit, then driving into ashburton in winter... cracked housings anyone?????
  22. check out this nissan diesel site...you may find some info on it... http://nissandiesel.dyndns.org/index.ph ... 379bde5b11
  23. atleast by getting a quote you know what your in for... and it can always help getting a second opinion from someone who knows what theyr looking at.. you cant guarantee that its not gonna happen to a used trans that you put it in..
