  1. Dailyed for a week. Used heaps of petorl Motor has a knock at cruise 50-70ish mph at part throttle. Rod knock maybe? Will see if Sylvesters have bearings when they reopen. Otherwise rockauto
  2. Does the rest of the car look dodgy ? If you've take it off and painted the area and reattached with rivets in a tidy fashion. Why would it look dodgy. If it was a hectic r32 skyline going to vtnz you might have issues. But for most normal people with older cars going to a regular inspection place it's never going to be an issue
  3. Oh yip. Maybe the 1mm wire is a bit thin. I find 1.2 is a good size to feed in nicely. 1mm might be having to feed to much in so can be difficult to get smooth. Approximately what amps are you running? You might be low. But looking at the inside you've got more than enough penetration so could afford to go lower yet. I've got a boss weld 200x tig for at home stuff and the pedal is like you say not that smooth and can make getting nice welds harder than it should be.
  4. I'm not an expert welder. But looking at the color of them your a wee bit hot. Try slowing down a little and thinner wire also helps. If your using 1.6 wire on 1.2 tube it will make it more difficult. When doing panel steel I'll use 1.2 wire as is melts in quicker than 1.6 wire.
  5. Little photos Got the head lining all back in and interoir trim and upholstery back in. Got all the lights and wipers etc working. Then submitted my work for scrutiny Wof obtained First one since 1995 or something
  6. Just buy a small roll for bunnings. A big roll will last years for home use
  7. @Jusepy82 I reccomend 0.6 wire for panel steel. It requires less heat to melt in Also the your escort will be 0.8 or less panel steel where your using 1.0mm to practice . That little difference makes a big difference on how much heat you need.

    PAINT THREAD

Buy an iwata w400 I bought one and used it almost every day for work for about a year. It's no 2k SATA. But for the money they are brilliant. Also get a pressure gauge for the inlet. Makes the bottom of the gun a little more bulky but then it takes the guess work out of setting pressures just right .
  9. The shielding gas means nothing It's just an excuse for something to blame shitty welds on We run argosheild at work and I run co2 at home cos its cheaper. No different. Bling is on the money. Practice and play with the settings till you find what works. And when you find settings that work write them down with what sort of weld you did for future reference
  10. Painted the wheels. Went to refit the hood lining. Loop that holds the hood bows started to rip. So took it back out. Andrew the upholsterer fixed that bit. Started firing again. Then more stitching at the front started to rip when we pulled it tight. So took it back out then andrew undid all the stitching and replaced all the loops that hold the hood bows. Sewed it all back together. And then we fitted for the 3rd time. Went in smooth as. Stapled front and back Just need to glue the sides on during the week
  11. Stuck some felt to the roof. Hood lining in saturday with any luck

    diesel spam

@Unclejake Reading your post I had a very similar sounding noise from a 4d65 mitzy diesel in a mk2 mirage had a loud rattle /clack consistantly like it near drowned out the rest of the motor when idling All I could put it down to when the motor was stripped was excessive bore wear and it's just loud af pision slap You may have broken a piston skirt and that could be why it's only one noise and started suddenly :discdisclaimer: this is the internet and this is my story Results may vary
  17. Big day today. Spent a few hrs at work and smashed out a heap of work. Pulled the rear screen and did the bits in the bottom corners. And cleaned back and rust killed the edge. Will probbaly clean it back when dry and hammerite the edge the glass is glued into and then will color upto the glass when the time comes
  18. Rh c pillar dialed in sunk a bit. But no access to dress and it's pretty thick so a wipe of composit will sort that
  19. Took it into work and left it there. Made a start on the rust this morning Have both c pillars to do in the same area. RR door shut. Both dog legs and rear gaurd are a bit scabby where the gaurd extensions bolt on. And holes in the floor from the cage First bit
