  1. the pulzar is faster. the civic is punishingly slow. less cc and auto
  2. What is the point of doing this. Wouldn't air flow still be limited by the original single carb manifold?
  3. Massyferguson 135 Get the 3 cylinder diesel. Goes hard. Parking engine will live forever and be reliable in all weather Also totp
  4. Did another couple hrs on this today. Got the back corner all wrapped up. Couldve been better with a few more tools. But hey it's fine for the mean time
  5. Have been dreading going the rust in the roof. I knew it was gonna be a masstive pest to do because of the channel for the rubber being to small for the might torch. The back side of the weld Being inside the car (fire hazard and can't linish welds back because huge mess). And mig welding on a roof which is most of flat so will move around really quick with heat....... Started by cutting Came up with this as a result .cant see the big wave in the photo. Will need to take to work and dress the area of repair properly. Blugh. now to get into this mess
  6. Productivity has been high on this due to deadline for hanmer..... So tonight I dug into the rust. Was worse than initially thought. No problem though. Was a bit tricky not having a guillotine/folder/nibble/compressor that keeps up with air tools/gasplant for welding the panel repair. But despite all this it got don no photos of during process due to such high productivity. But before and after. Will prob just rattle some green on for the mean time and epoxy, fill, and paint properly later on down the track / never
  7. Went to safe r brakes to get seals for wheel cylinders. Figured I'd ask about complete cylinder. As it luck would have it 2 new cylinders on the shelf for s measly sum of $20 each (trade account) Probably should've gotten new shoes, but meh only one photo just need to bleed the air back out if the fronts again. Stupid single circuit brakes Next step: tackle the rust
  8. Though you may like this. Drag racing in 79 wee yellow rx3 coupe in background just off the line a ruapuna racetrack
  9. @yoeddynz there isn't anything wrong with filler over bare steel. In the collision industry it is normal practice. And in the restoration we do it sometimes depending in the job. I fully agree it it much safer to expoxy prime first. It's fine if the filler is applied sanded and then painted/topcoated within short period of time , day or two and is kept dry. Problems arise when the car sits around in primer for months/ years and moisture wicks through the primer getting trapped in the filler. Modern fillers adhere perfectly to bare steel as good as any epoxy would. Prepping the surface is the most important part of any body work Soz about spam
  10. Haha @governorsam as much as I would love a full sheet folder. I don't really have the space for one that big. We have one at work that will do full 1.6 sheets. Takes 4 of us but can be done
  11. Mended a table tonight. Legs were pulling the scres out and had been stored as a result. Put some blocks down in different places so the holes had new wood/mush to go into also glued for extra stick. Fixed
  12. Yeah it's not bad for rust. Only the few bit photgraphed. Worst is behind the right rear wheel . The interior is pretty complete really. Carpets are pretty fucked though
  13. @- i5oogt - Cos you haven't done it yet.
  14. In last couple days I've dissasembled both front calipers only to find pistions like new and good seals. Quick clean and back together they went This arvo with @- i5oogt - bleed the brakes in the hope they would sort them selves out. Only to find one rear drum dragging real bad. Took apart to find the slave cylinder was siezed on one side. The wall of the cylinder is in pretty good condition being aluminium. May get new ones if available. Also went digging into the back right corner to see how far the rust went........ Wheel arch has had a prang and been filled up. Will pull this mess out Couple little bits of rust to fix
  15. Does anyone have a small(like 900mm) sheet metal folder not currently in use that could be rehomed. Need to start doing rust work on @- i5oogt - great pea and also my crown wagon. Have plenty of gear at work just not a wee folder.
  16. One problem with this car was the plastic sliders on the driver's window regulator we're broken. Karl had got the regulator out of a wagon eb civic that was out at the graveyard but the regulator was different . Still had the plastic sliders though. The only way to get them off is to cut the rivet off. With out having any new rivets I had to chisle the rivet out in a way I could re-rivet it to work again. Carefully it was done I also end up welding nuts to the back of where it bolts into the door frame as they had been stripped. Rivet ready for re-use one down One rivet re done Ready to go back in the door teeth are a little worn
  17. Get back on the main page. Did a little work on this this evening. Put atf in the toyo-dissapointment trans got it all up to temp and went for a Hoon round the feild transmission feels healthy enough with shifting . Surprisingly the heater alsoworks really well. Something not right here Started removing all this emissions garbage. All the vacuum hoses are brittle and hard af Super cool green dash backlighting
  18. None of my old pos cars are legal rip. Prob Just run the rfb
  19. @JR I did the same thing with a mig15 airframe I bought ages ago
  20. What grades of paper are you using.? And what pain supplier do you use? At work I'll sand dry with guid Coat from 180-240-(320)?-400- then 800 wet then colour. One of the other painters just does 400 dry and that's it. Theres really no need as such to wet sand. We do it because once it's sanded you can see the shape and any waves/scratches easily because when wet the primer is glossy. We go from filler sanded to like 180. Then spritz spray filler on most things. Helps a lot with defining hard edges and swage lines. Then a good heavy coat of 5320 spies hecker the sand as above. Hopefully no rub throughs
  21. During the earthquakes this car suffered pretty bad and had liquefaction all through the floors ruining the carpets which are now long gone. Today I gave them a good scrub to get the worst of it out. Still need to take the seats out to clean under the seats Was wondering how the emissions stuff was controlled. Thinking there must be an ecu somewhere......... Found it.......covered in water Don't think the systems going to be working from now on lost
