Oh boy. Sturmey Archer chat. There's heaps online about how different generations of them have different characteristics. Some of the earlier ones would find 'neutral' and disengage while pedaling leading to ball damage (rider not hub)... -

Got a bit of waste ground by the back door that's only good for weeds, so just banged up a woodshed that'll save a trip to the big one. All scrap timber from an old fence so only cost me some screws and a bag of cement... Got the piles perfectly level then discovered the 100 x 100s were warped AF...

Just found them, were in my toolbox. Think I grabbed a yard or so of them from the engine room at a previous workplace. No idea if you can still get them but they're super comfy under a helmet...

Reason I got it out is I won a record on the radio, so keen to get my beer crate of albums out. I've ordered a new stylus for $30 and looking fwd to traumatising the kids with arcane music and the rituals in playing it... I've even got the smoked glass doors somewhere I think. Be good to refit them and experience the satisfying magnetic closing 'clunk' again...
