  1. Sounds like another Welshman on here I know... Enjoying the story so far mate..
  2. Very nice paint job.. is that acrylic? Did they clear over the colour to get that finish or just buff it back? Cheers man
  3. Go thru the right channels and you'll get to keep them. Always great to keep cars in the family.. we'll done:-)
  4. So would Nancy Reagan... once she pulls herself off Mr T's lap...
  5. My guess is that in the pursuit of trying to stop the annoying vibrations of doof doof subs, the previous owner thought it'd be a good idea to spray flammable foam in that void..
  6. Be prepared for an influx of old cars on Trademe at 4 times the price they sold for at auction...
  7. Small update, but anything is progress in my life.. The car had a few area where surface rust was working it's way under some of the previous primered areas like this.. so spent yesterday sanding them all back & deoxedine them, the roof was the worst of it on this side.. Next weekend (I hope) to wash all the dust & crap off the car & probably re-deoxidine the sanded areas again, then etch prime & hifill.
  8. I used to get mine from the Toolshed in Penrose, but I see there's a branch in Hamilton so that's where I'll be going now.. http://www.thetoolshed.co.nz/Stores If I remember I'll take a pic of the stuff I get - can't remember the grade off hand
  9. Seeing that ^^ and a pic in the aussie car pic's thread reminded me of how much I missed the Nissan Mobil 500 down in Wellington. Those were the days.. (Peanut Slab Rover in this clip to stay relative to this thread)..
  10. As long as space works I can't see any issues with it, but I have no practical feedback to give though sorry. I'll be going down this road for my Torana at least because they never came out with factory power steering & the kits available in Australia or here are well over $2.5k. Might also look into it for the HQ if hauling the ole 202 around gets tiring. Trademe peeps be wanting moonbeams for factory power steering setups. It'll all depend on how much it'll be to source the steering column setup locally or overseas.. If there is enough interest I could look at importing a few of those corsa wiring kits with the fuse, as I'll be needing 2 of them - might look at that early next year. Is that 500 NZD include the power steering unit? not bad if it does
  11. This has a fuse/fuse holder with it which is convenient.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Corsa-B-C-Kit-Electric-power-steering-controller-box-With-ECU-plug-EPAS/180985073152?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D33840%26meid%3Daf64535bddf44865a73d6a5e66d14ddd%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D4%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D170917297179
  12. The Opel corsa is the Barina over here AFAIK. Don't know of any kits in NZ but as you've seen by looking into it there are a number of options around. That link above sounds like a good option too. Here's the ebay link for the wiring harness.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Saturn-Vue-Ion-Chevrolet-Equinox-Electric-power-steering-controller-box-EPAS/171733694488?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140602152332%26meid%3D9e0f7cfc6f254125a333e8ccf28708f9%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D3%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D171027023129 This one is cheaper from the UK for the Corsa, & looks the same.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Corsa-B-C-Kit-Electric-power-steering-controller-box-With-ECU-plug-EPAS/181681672736?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D33840%26meid%3Daf64535bddf44865a73d6a5e66d14ddd%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D170917297179
  13. Look at electric power steering as an option too?.. Like this.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=32&v=5SjOvL42LIo
  14. And a bit of video evidence that the mighty six runs. It had been sitting for the last 10 years since the tear down started so I thought I'd try & get it started. Armed with my 2nd hand Zebra battery & trusty can of magic spray it only took 2 or 3 initial attempts before it fired into life - so happy! Only ran it for about 30-40 seconds cos I didn't have a radiator hooked up, & I ran the hose thru it afterward for extra paranoia points.
  15. Yea I'm pretty stoked with its condition.. just gotta sand down the small surface rust spots on the body from sitting round for the last few years
  16. Spent a few hours on Saturday an Sunday cleaning out the car. Happy to report no rust to worry about. Boot looks to have been tidied up in the past. Need to remove the PVC pipe & I'll make up a plate to go over it (used to run on CNG a long time ago) Mate had already done the work around the windscreen's & with a quick wipe of a rag it came up all shiny..
  17. Here is what the car used to look like about 10 years ago before it got stripped down & what I hope to bring it back to looking like..including all its (probably dealer/first owner fitted) badges..
  18. Cheers man.. yep a SS hatch I've had for a little while now.. seems to follow me where ever I go.. that's next on the agenda once this is done & I decide what direction I'm heading with it.
  19. Tell me why I'm dreamin mate.. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/50309-jeds-hq-kingswood-deluxe-discussion-group/
