Filming high frame rates for more than a few minutes chews memory and is massively annoying to review, 1 hr of footage at 240fps will take 10hrs to review. Can you not split the analysis into smaller chunks?

Thats gopro territory, much easier to set up than full spec highspeed cam

This is really impressive, when I think back to all the discussion over gearbox direction, thrust bearings never really made it to the table in my mind, quite a good save and nice solution. Is there a machined surface on the back of the flywheel for the bearings to run on? I guess that contact patch technically should be lubed but in the impossible to keep?

Was super fun to do, really sucks how work life kept kicking it down the order. Very glad we had the mdf one to check process on, that really took the stress off after all the effort that went into making the blank. This is by several orders of magnitude the coolest thing thats come off that machine, looking forward to the end result, no matter how long it takes to get there.

yep, but i'm in the city, don't have an EV and really don't want to get into homebrew BMS systems, i'm plenty skilled enough at generating fire without badly cobbled together batteries in a dark corner. If it was possible to go Solar panel, inverter, heat pump, it could probably be a useful item to us.

My thoughts were the AC set to cool and then whenever power is coming off the roof it would do it's best, no fancy controls needed, in reality I guess you'd need something (battery) to prevent nasty hysteresis pissing the AC off

Sounds plausible, lame though, new workshop roof is perfect to throw solar up on, panels are cheap but we don't have much to dump the energy into, cooling the house in summer is about it and even then, barely justifiable. If there are shut down cycles in the heat pump then it would need smarts to communicate and be able to provide enough energy for that to happen, heading towards the level I have not many cares for.

Got her tucked up inside, with the dregs from an Argon tin I cut down the trolley from the Datsun Rotisserie and rebuilt it to pick up on the Niva jacking points, can now wheel it in and out of a corner of the workshop. Drained all the fluids and spent some time underneath figuring out the needed works, short is not much, but plenty enough. All set now to start stripping the suspension to replace all the rotten rubber bushings and whatever else arises. Worst realisation is that its in much the same condition as the Datsun was 3 years ago........

Is there a way to hook a heatpump up to some solar panels so it fires up while the juice is flowing? Do heatpumps even care if the power is always on/off?

I've now done a few cars on 50l compressors, here in Canterbury its pretty dry and you can get away with it, just. I have a large aluminium bodied line filter that does an amazing job at removing moisture, nothing like a refrigerated dryer, but good enough and religiously check it, once it gets warm, its time to go inside for a cuppa. It takes some planning of how you're going to do each coat, during base coats figure out how much time/cycles the compressor tank takes to heat up and cool down so that when it comes time to do the final coats, you know how much you can get done each session. Most 1ph compressors won't do full duty cycle so that also plays into the mix depending on your level of mechanical sympathy. Sucks balls, takes way longer, but its cheaper than rewiring for three phase!
