  1. The friction of the tubing will cause appreciable pressure loss. Just use something with a fairly large diameter to decrease friction.
  2. Then why does noone else seem to manage making it to the dairy and back without blowing something?
  3. How many thousands of engines would it have gone through in 220,000 miles?
  4. Jesus that looks complicated. Imagine the sadness that would be induced if an axle snaps and you are left carless for a while. Are there no 'off the shelf' axles of the right lengths?
  5. You should get a big bottle of CRC rust converter, give it a coat of rough black. Or are you going to sand blast it all the way down and paint it properly?
  6. Just make up a rectangular piece of wire for that clip?
  7. That turbo must be putting a lot of stress on the bolts holding the manifold to the engine. Does it have any other support?
  8. Just been wondering, what diff do the sprint models have and is there any way to tell them apart from the looks of the diff? There is no information on the chassis tag in the engine bay.
  9. Could be something with ignition advancing issues?
  10. Could cut one from a corolla ae92 or something
  11. I never put any info up about rebuilding the gearbox. It had noisy bearings, input and output. I pulled the gearbox and then removed 5th gear so that I could get the counter shaft out and the bearings, there is no need to remove anything else from a K50 to get to the bearings. I probably should have done the synchros at the same time but I was on an extremely tight schedule as I pulled the gearbox out only two days before driving from Auckland to Christchurch. The bearings are nice and quiet now. I also got a fresh VTNZ WoF today. First try. I will be needing some new rear tyres at some point in the next 6 months though. Anyone know where I can get some good firestone tyres for cheap?
  12. Where do you live? There is a decent paint shop in Pukekohe. Pretty expensive though.
  13. This has probably been asked over 9000x but I just want a quick and simple answer. What is the easiest and cheapest way to get black plates on my car legally?
  14. The number and brightness of the lights is proportional to speed. It gives a good indication of how fast you are driving. "I pulled you over because you were two and a half warning lights over the speed limit!"
  15. Car is all back together now. Runs nice and quiet
  16. Ended up just stripping the box, putting new bearings in on monday.
  17. I pulled the box today, that front bearing is definitely a bit noisy and sloppy. I might try and get my brother's old K50 from his KE70 and swap the tailhousing over. Just need to wait on the person that has it laying around.
  18. Also, for removing the input bearing on a K50 do I need to pull the whole box apart or does it just unbolt from the front of the box? The diagram in the manual makes it look like it can just be unbolted and pulled (somehow).
  19. Can't hear it while I am driving, probably just because more engine noise and whatnot. Do you reckon it will be safe to keep driving it as is for another year until I get back up North? It isn't leaking any oil. Otherwise I could possibly make a mission of it and rip it out this weekend and fix it before I leave down south on the 12th.
  20. Seeing as you guys are a bunch of experts [hopefully] on the topic, maybe you can help me out with my gearbox noises. When it is in neutral and my foot is OFF the clutch it makes a fairly loud whirring sound, kind of like a skateboard rolling along. The sound goes away as soon as the clutch is pushed in, this indicates that it is NOT the release bearing causing the sound. What component is likely causing this sound and is this sound safe? The gearbox has always been making the sound during my ownership and I have changed the gear fluid. Thanks
  21. I guess I could go measure it up tomorrow, just a warning that it is all on the piss as the chassis is bent. So one mount is at least 20 mm back from its original position.
  22. Plus, not everyone needs a 700 HP 3S in their car.
