  1. Well if it's only around a days work I'd deff be keen if it was me, your right the signage will look waaaay better where the windows are now.. Then all you need to do is a wee bit of slam and it'll be the perfect work vehicle!
  2. My work van has no rear side windows and it's not a massive issue as far as visibility goes, although it does have massive mirrors which make changing lanes and reversing etc much easier... The only thing that really sucks well to me anyway about no side windows is backing out of driveways is sketchy so I always back in first now.. In the end no different than if the back is stacked up to the roof with gear anyway.. I agree, these look way better with no side windows, but it's quite a big job welding them up right?
  3. Cheers I'll send you a pm or something soon, think I still have your number..
  4. I'm away nest weekend but I'll try get it into you before I go away maybe on the Friday and can come and pick it up on the monday?
  5. I like the look of the two vans above, so I second vinyl out the rear side windows!
  6. Hey Jase, Yeah I can see out of it fine. The finish is starting to pit on the top which sucks so the quality isn't amazing but it was a cheapie of trademe..
  7. Ah sweet cheers, your a legend! I'm in no rush at the moment, like I said the cars in Waipara but hopefully sometime before the end of sept, early October? What suits you?
  8. Escort van for work = hero status achieved... Some old style sign writing on the doors with your company logo would look sweet too
  9. Ha cheers Josh, although A. I don't know what I'm doing and B. the car is now in Waipara, wish it was still around the corner from you... I'll prob throw the drivers seat back in and drive it back into town.. Are you still keen on small cashies? There's maybe 3-4 holes the biggest is less than 50mm
  10. Update time.. I spent Saturday pulling out the drivers seat and the rest of the interior. The carpets were so old and rotten they basically fell apart.. I managed to get the majority of the old under seal off the floor but there's some areas where it's super well stuck down so I'll attack that with a chisel or something, I hear that's a good trick to getting it off with dry ice? Once that's done the plan is to wire brush the floor then prime it with a rust type primer and put in my new carpet which I picked up of trademe.. I've found a couple small rust holes so will try find someone who can weld them up before I go to much further.. Do any chch locals on here know anyone who may be keen for a cashie welding job / someone who's capable? A few pics.. I also picked a Autosport seat up off another member a few weeks back so while I had the seat out and got sick of cleaning surface rust I sat it in the car and made some broom broom noises! Looking forward to getting the interior back in and the car back on the road: Question time. What's the trick with dry ice for removing under seal and where can you get it from? Should I put underlay under the new carpet when it's ready to go back in? Cheers
  11. Hey I'm not super good with car electronics but have you checked the earth on your car? My escort was doing something very similar to that a while back (turn the key and nothing happens but could jump start it) I unscrewed the earth, cleaned all the contacts and also cleaned where they contact the body and boom! The car started first go.. Not to mention I was having issues with my lights and indicators working but they're all good now too.. Maybe just an idea.. PS your car rules..
  12. Wish I could come along, but the escorts in Waipara
  13. An Indian as a farm bike lol, so much win.. I know of another Indian similar to this for sale here in CHCH in a antique / junk store place.. They are very cool, I've been back to see it twice so very jealous of yours
  14. I love this truck and this thread! My partner has just inherited (i have) her old mans 82 flat deck hilux 4x4 and I've been reading this for inspiration! Looking forward to seeing this thing in colour!!
  15. I've met a couple guys here in chch that have almost identical 911s to yours and damn they're pretty badass sweet car
  16. That's one of the big shames about Suds and Sprints, they rust like crazy... I remember when this was on trademe, I wanted to buy it so badly.. Is such a mint Sud. Any idea where it is now?
  17. Nice car mate.. I'm running 1300 pistons with slight overbore on my 711 block and it goes good.. Very much fun in te small light car that escorts are.. Oh and your paint job looks badass
  18. Very much like! Super tidy looking example well done.. What's the plans?
  19. If you can find them I am running princess 4 pot calipers on the front end of my mk1 and capri vented discs and they work great, but surely the wilwoods would be a better way to go newer, lighter etc... Then I just have the standard drums out back which work fine also.. When my car was lowered it had compressed springs and standard dampers in the front and 3 inch blocks out back but handled like crap.. I've just picked up some half built coilovers that really only need dampers and top hats to complete so if I get onto that soon I'll post up what length I decide to use.. By the way your mk2 looks like a great solid base, do you have a thread?
  20. Haha I feel your pain, sidedrafts in a standard mk1 bay deff make things tight / super difficult... I'm not looking forward to that next time, I have the same problem you had, my gearbox leaks
  21. Shit yeah this is looking amazing! On another note, was reading about your troubles removing the gearbox in your mk1, did you try loosening the bolts on the crossmember? You can let them down a fair amount without unbolting them which gives you some extra room / depth to angle the motor backwards, worth remembering for next time as I had the same prob last time I dropped my gearbox...
  22. Not stalking you or nothing like that but saw you driving this beast home tonight and faaaark it is mean!!!! Looks totally evil on the road man well done
  23. Great score mate, this thing is amazing! Love the interior...
