  1. Not as impressive as a Mustang but I'll have my V50 by then so can make my first meet!
  2. This is what you need to do http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/fiat/auction-877931262.htm
  3. Dad's been working on this for me. Chopped the front guard where it was broken so it doesn't look so ugly but still protects engine. 11130066_1082831141733345_90071985_n by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Made an air filter 11130321_1083527374997055_627586845_n by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Ordered some parts from Indonesia and the UK. 2 week delivery time (y) 11173663_1090315794318213_2125810130_n by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr and put it all together and made it go! (this was actually before the above^ parts) It's booked with the man who took his Fiat 500 from backload4u to come up here mid May in the back of a truck. Excite.
  4. Mirror floor? Like this but inside
  5. Have you got a build thread for your Mini? Always good to see what others are doing to their BMC lumps. At least it's easy to work on, an hour or so to take the engine out on my own, quicker with help, 5 mins to split from the gearbox and not much more to put it all back haha.
  6. Thanks Igor, will find out eventually what it'll be. Ha, it's a lolspec 90s rental I'm in at the moment. Wallpapered garage with the same blinds on the windows as the rest of the house.
  7. Well, shit. IMG_1627 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Bearing. IMG_1626 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Crank. One tiny bearing carrier that collapsed has travelled through the bearings and eaten them all. It must have gotten very hot down there because the bearings are deformed from the heat. Plan now is will get my spare crank in CHCH checked/ground if need be and sent up, get new bearings sourced and slap it all together - but just annoying that it was so close to being done, now a few more weeks of it off the road while this is sorted. Discuss
  8. Took the engine out of this tonight, thanks Neal for the loan of the engine crane. IMG_1607 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr No more wooden engine mounts IMG_1611 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr IMG_1617 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Tomorrow will split the engine and gearbox and swap the new bits over then hopefully get it going again! And give it a long overdue wash. Most people would have given up on just an Austin 1300 after all these engine/gearbox problems but I quite like this wee car. /it's not worth anything to sell.
  9. That'd be an epic trip! Just did a quick calculate, would take about 18 hours.. Yeah nah.
  10. Heck yes! Welcome to smelling like two-stroke all the time. I've just had my Yamaha V50 put back together and am trying to get it up here from Chch. Will have to go for a ride sometime!
  11. Yeah life got in the way of these plans.. But eventually it will happen... But yes as mo999 says it will be ideal to commute around on. Can't wait to have my clothes smell like two-stroke everyday Also anyone going from Chch to Auckland and got room for a moped?
  12. http://www.carthrottle.com/post/an-old-vauxhall-viva-is-a-whole-lot-more-appealing-with-a-mazda-v6-under-the-bonnet/ Popping up all over the internet! Fantastic film.
  13. Bad luck about the flares! Does sound like BS considering so many cars like Mins run them as you said.. Anything else it fail on? More than welcome to come use my pump again to put both sides up to sky scraper height. Also seeing as my car isn't going anywhere soon you can put my steelies for a wof if you want, nearly new tires on them.
  14. +1 to that, see it everywhere! Looks wicked. Loved this one haha
  15. I've always thought the same! And I noticed that this: Looks very similar to this: ...
  16. Looks good! There's no way to change front and rear heights separately. But if you do let some out, the back will come down the most. Kind of. I would just chuck something heavy in the boot if you need it. Be careful about the wheels eating the guards when this happens..
  17. I screwed them to some wood and put Velcro strips underneath. But if the screws are long enough they'll poke through and grip the carpet. Never had an issue with them moving
  18. Head unit is ace under the front seat, with an amp under the other. Then just AUX cable in the middle.
  19. That could be a good thing for highway driving. But we think this was a later model Mini with 12 inch wheels anyway. If it is a problem I'll just swap the diffs.
  20. Split the end casing off today. (Borrowed a puller and bought some gaskets etc from Mini Bitz in Henderson - A++ GC) We're genuinely surprised it would move looking at the damage. It was what we thought, the bearing destroyed itself and then allowed the gear to move side to side and eat it's teeth into the casings. We were hoping it was only going to have damaged the outer casing and we could just swap that but alas it got the actual gearbox casing too. IMG_8858 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr IMG_8857 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Side casing ^ IMG_8855 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Gearbox casing ^ Went to Zebra and met Ben (A++ GC). Grabbed a gearbox out of a Clubman 1100 to put in my car. The only visible difference is the primary gear shaft is bigger on the 1300 so need to get another one from Mini Bitz. 2015-02-13 13.36.21 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Hoping with the help of some neighbors I can take the motor out and swap it over myself. OS help appreciated - beers provided! So now know what the issue it, just got to spend some time/effort to swap it over and hope this gearbox is good and will last a while. 21. Unfortunately I need it for tomorrow. Thanks for the offer though!
  22. Has anyone in Auckland got a flat puller that would be suitable to get the flywheel off this? Need it asap! Can pick up tonight and compensate. Cheers, Andrew Edit: Like this
