  1. Also discovered it has about 4mm of crank end float. Thought maybe the crank trigger disc on Harmonic balancer was pushing forward and not getting picked up by sensor. Did some testing with laptop and data logging to see if that was the issue.... nope
  2. Fuck me this thing has electrical gremlins that right screwed my weekend. After fitting a brand new ignition module the same issues started coming back so started checking earths all were loose or screwed to paint so no fucking good...... more or less had the wiring loom out looking for broken wires. Put it all back in all back it alternator died fitted a new one hurray it starts and runs mint! Then died. Out of options and parts and no fault codes i jammed the second hand coil pack in i had bought and it ran mint all day, this morning its spitting and shitty till warm then runs perfect. Time to get some bloke in......
  3. Been having a right bastard of a time lately tracking down an electrical gremlin. Pulled into drive and it just turned off last friday after driving from Auckland back to Huntly and wouldn't restart, after 6 attempts it finally threw a check engine code for the crank angle sensor which after a mad panic i got my hands on and fitted (which is behind the harmonic balancer) and nothing wouldn't start. Called a mate whose a decent mechanic directed me to the ignition module which i removed plug blew out with air and refitted finally it ran! But like utter shit till warm, these aren't as commonly available in nz nor particularly cheap. Limped to and from work for a week letting it warm up first new module has arrived been fitted and seems good thank fuck for that!
  4. I machined the guts of mine so it only just lets go of belt at idle just a bees dick of clearance on front drum, prior it would of had 2-3mm so it took at least 3000rpm to get anything happening. Only issue i have is it sometimes get a bit grabby when you come to a stop think it just needs some grease on spline so everything returns to its resting spot.
  5. Fitted the supertrapp with what bends and pipe i had left sounds nice and thumpy and not too loud, it pops a bit and spits massive blue flames on deceleration (like a 40cm ring of flame!) I'll redo the headers in 1 1/2" eventually and move the muffler lower and out of way but for now its usable again. Low stall mod worked engages drive earlier doesn't seem to have affected the cvt operation changes ratios as it did before.
  6. Im looking forward to seeing how you manage to fit both a supercharger and a turbo.
  7. Machined these two spacers up for the cvt shorter is to set up as per instructions the other is a trial "low stall" setup to hopefully get it moving with less revs. This engine loves been loaded up and the cvt is intended for things bit more gutless down low so just experimenting. I managed to blow the outer cover off the driver pulley somehow as well cant figure out how but i was fair hauling when it lost drive and rolled to a stop....... long push back to trailer.
  8. Hey try South pacific avionics at the Ardmore airport for getting your speedo sorted. Have had John fix a few Irreparable analog dynamometers recently surprisingly they just arrive back fixed.... no dramas. He does aircraft instruments etc so will probably be a right up his alley. http://shop.avionics.co.nz/calibration-services#container
  9. You need to tie the brake lines stop them breeding
  10. Muffler arrived bloody quickly! My shitty (but new) pit bike Muffler already burned all the packing out and is starting to deform from heat. Going to need to add some extra length to pipes to space the supertrapp away from the engine or it'll be short lived.
  11. Ffs had a milk tanker decide he had right of way turning onto the highway which lead to 100kph down to zero emergency stop. Front rotors now warped might be time for some new curve slotted brembos.
  12. Treated myself to some more wheels gone for 19's this time. Slowly turning into a donk no intention to lower it its awesome never snags on anything. I was also energetic enough to run the buff over it which has made quite presentable again.
  13. I have a Tikka spy camera from the early 1900s it appears to be functional inhereted it from a stash my pop had...... he liked cameras and guns and would frequently fix things by shooting them.
  14. Looks good after a wash, thought it was satin black for a while. Like the wheels they certainly pop!
  15. I'll admit that muffler is around as structural as bean tin and is birdshitted in place. Cringed at price but bought one of china's finest supertrapp knockoffs which absolutely has to be the end of this project or the mrs reckons she will castrate me (shes a nurse too so shes capable)
  16. Hell yes i do i look like a right twat all geared up. More tuning today had to chuck a tiny sprocket on the back as it was well off from being right, added a tiny pit bike muffler that i bashed bigger holes in and stuffed with stainless pot scouring pads actually sounds ok but is a bit choked is pretty quiet though. Decent blatt today at area 51 Cvt is the shit bloody love it! Full launch hits 4000rpm and just pulls and pulls till Cvt maxes out then revs take over. So much grip too with proper motorcycle tyres wonder if Hampton downs track cruises are an option.
  17. Shims in chains adjusted up and off for first ride needs a few revs to get going but fuck shes off as soon as the clutch engages not snatchy either which is nice. Annoyingly the starter solinoid has shat itself and its running a bit shit. And that exhaust is awful sounds like a fart through a trombone. If weather isnt shit i might try an extend ride out back of nowhere as the carb usually sorts itself out after a few minutes, keen to run the Cvt through its range to see how it behaves at like 80-90 k
  18. Thought they might be "presenting" to the elder gingas. Back on the topic Micras i remember back in the early 2000's Performance Car featuring a few that made 150 odd horsepower. Wonder if a head from a bike could be stuck on the 1300 with a prepped bottom end for big revs.
  19. Change of plans this is going to be in the drift quad now it is far easier to fit and will get running way quicker than the turbo engine which was going to be an ass to find a suitable drive setup (which incidentally has been sold for a criminal amount). Back down to a manageable hoard.
  20. It runs but things need shimming the chain isnt quite right either. Quickly fashioned pipes look cool but are deafening so will add some muffling.... later maybe a bozusoku sytle supertrapp. Will get a sack of 8mm washers and make some clearance happen over weekend.
  21. Cool its going to work. Bees dick clearances but a gap is a gap chain appears to fall in right spot. Exhaust will not sadly.
